Been here once before and thought it was good. Food was a little cold, but the vibe was good. I called and made reservations a few days ago for today. They’re having a private event today, but they offered to make room for us downstairs. If you couldn’t accommodate me then don’t waste both of our time in promising something you couldn’t commit to. Don’t call me the day of and tell me you can’t do it. Don’t call me the day of and give me a bullshit excuse. The guy didn’t even sound remorseful. It makes me not want to give money to you guys ever again.

Swung by for happy hour after an afternoon in DTLA. I had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got the chance to try it. The décor and menu means to evoke a sort of Southern charm and while it nails the aesthetics, the food and experience fell a bit short of expectations. The happy hour menu here is solid and comes with plenty of delicious sounding options. Creole-inspired soul food? I’m sold! My party of two decided to split the Hand-Cut Fries w/Turkey Neck Gravy & Rib Rub and the Baked Macaroni w/Vella Dry Jack & Turbodog Black Ale. The fries arrived first and were pretty tasty upon first bite. They were cut very rustically with the skin left on and flavored with a sweet and savory spice. The gravy was delicious and came with plenty of shredded turkey meat. This was a pretty tasty dish but a bit too large to split among just two people. The baked macaroni came sizzling on a skillet and while quite yummy on first bite, turned out to be a little too hard and overcooked. A little too al dente for my taste. I’m not sure if I’d return for the food but I very much enjoyed their frozen daiquiri selection. For $ 5, it’s a pretty nice happy hour deal. Some people may not find the drinks boozy enough but for lightweights like me, one drink was enough to get a good buzz going. The bartenders allow you to sample the daiquiris with a cute, little baby-sized mason jar so you can pick your favorite.

Finally made it over to the gem. The wine was good, the food was a-ma-zing. I had the shrimp and grits done like never before. The grits were high quality and the sauce was unforgettable. I asked for my grits plain in case I didn’t like the rest but I combined them, cleaned my bowl and sent compliments to the chef. They give you grilled toast which was just as amazing. They do have two levels. Downstairs is more of a bar like atmosphere while upstairs has a more vintage New Orleans dining experience. It sits between two parking lots and there is street parking on 4 side of the street since it is nestled center of the road. Also, it’s right across from Verve coffee which my friend says, «OMG, there coffee is everything.» Enjoy my friends…

Brunch is back. This time it is even better. They did not just go with the standard issue brunch menu. Instead they created a menu with their own flare. This is critical since there are so many brunch options. Standing out is hard, and they have done it. I started with the Biscuit & Gravy Pizza with House Andouille. Also included in this amazing blend of flavors are smoked mozzarella, bourbon barrel aged hot sauce and soft egg. First off the portion is substantial. It does not look that big, but it will fill you up in a hurry. I suggest sharing it. The flavors come together nicely. I love a good biscuit and gravy, and this spin on it takes it to another level. The house andouille puts it over the top. The biscuit its self has great flavor and texture. I only ate half so I could try at least one other item too. For my second option I chose the Hand Cut Skin-On Fries with Rib Rub and Carolina Gold Sauce. This is another dish that hits some of my soft spots. I love fries and a good dry rub. Combining the two had me excited. It is a simple side, but quite enjoyable. I enjoyed the Carolina Gold, but they also send it out with their spicy ketchup for those that are not fans of mustard flavors. This is another great side to share. I will have to return soon to try several other things on the menu including the Chicken and Waffles and the Breakfast Burger just to name a couple. A quick recap on the place overall for those that have not read my original review. The place has a cool feel to it with the décor and layout. There are outdoor areas downstairs and upstairs. A bar is on each floor as well. The staff is great. They are friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of liquor and mixed drinks too.

PARKING: It’s at the edge of Main and Spring, so if you’re going down Spring, bust a V-turn onto Main and park there, behind Preux & Proper. Was at the Intrude Art Installation on Fig. &7th for the quiet disco and this place was open at 10 p.m. The girls and I were celebrating a pre-30th birthday and this restaurant was the perfect surprise because it had a laid-back vibe, good tunes and was fancy enough for us in the middle of downtown L.A. The food here is N’awlins inspired/style and is RICH with flavor! My favorite menu item of the night was their baked macaroni with crawfish e’touffee, vella dry Jack and roasted tomatoes. I didn’t taste any tomatoes, the pasta was orecchiette, the sauce tasted creamy but not thick, and it had a cheesy crust with crawfish baked on top of it that came in a skillet. First bite was intriguing with the seafood taste of the crawfish driving the dish and the cheese accompanying it and left me with a distinct pepper after taste. Every bite after that I was hooked and scooping out more and more from the skillet. I didn’t kill it because I’d sampled other dishes before this one(beef toast was excellent, crab hushpuppies weren’t my favorite, but the others loved it, crispy pork cheek was good, burger was awesome but the others weren’t feeling the seafood/beef mix) and it’s so rich with flavor it’s hard to finish even half a skillet by yourself. Dessert we had the pâté a choux beignets w/banana-rum dulce de leche which were the best beignets I’ve had in my life thus far. They were light, fluffy, doughy and had banana inside. The sauce at the bottom of the dish reminded me of flambé bananas foster and I couldn’t even eat the last beignet because it was so rich and I was full! At the end, our waitress gave us tiny mason jars and explained to us it’s a lagniappe(I heard her say lan-yapp) which is an old Louisiana tradition where they give you a little something extra. We were to take our jars downstairs to the bar and chose a frozen treat to fill our jars with. We saw the Priyoncé(Prince + Beyoncé) and got our jars in formation to be filled with their essence. We all took one sip and decided we can’t attain that greatness because it tasted too funky. I couldn’t even finish THAT in the name of Prince and Beyoncé! Let’s just say I tasted something out of a handmade soaps store. Overall, one of a kind experience in Downtown L. A, I would definitely go back and I’d recommend it for a group of friends looking to have an intimate, fun time where you can have a fine dining experience and drink, sing, dance and feel right at home. ONELASTNOTE, «SECURITY!»: It’s pretty open to the streets downstairs and we were approached by transients looking for money who TRIED to casually blend in and dance up to us ladies sitting on barstools. Just be aware that they WILL try it and if you’re sitting outside expect to be panhandled. It’s a little dicey even for me. I didn’t like the way the guy just came out of nowhere and stood right between my friend and I and asked her for cash and proceeded to ask our table for the same and we all uttered, «We use card. Sorry!» No personal bubble whatsoever and sketchy AF.

Super hit and miss. Not terrible but not nearly as good as it sounds either. Had the spicy carrots, house andouille and the fried chicken, and finished the meal with the cornbread dessert. The carrots were cold and the cherry tomatoes didn’t make sense with the dish and the andouille was bland. The fried chicken and the cornbread dessert were pretty good, though. Service was good but, given all the great restaurants in dtla, I probably won’t be back.

A little bit of Cajun, a little bit of Creole in downtown LA? Believe it. Preux and Propers interior and exterior was transported straight from the NO. Last year my wife and I had the opportunity to visit Née Orleans for a week. One of the best cities I’ve ever had the opportunity to visit. With that being said Preux and Proper is every bit New Orleans, in DTLA. The appetizers(nickel and dimes) are absolutely wonderful here. I can honestly say that the catfish we ordered here might have been better than the catfish I had in New Orleans. The fish was breaded wonderfully, the fried pickles were a nice touch and the sauce was amazing. The drinks we’re very tasty. My favorite was the lemon smash. Mezcal is apparently a very popular liquor out here. Expect to pay $ 15 for the signature cocktails though. Service was good also. For the main course I ordered the game hen($ 27) which was very crispy, juicy and tasty. The honey glaze on the chicken was sooo good. I almost wish I could have ordered some waffles alongside the chicken. Overall, the look and feel of Preux and Proper is very much New Orleans. It’s nice to know that we don’t have to travel all the way to the NO to get delicious, Cajun creole cuisine. Be aware that the food and drinks are a tad pricey, but it’s worth it to try this place out when in DTLA.

I came here last minute on a busy Friday, a few weeks ago. I called ahead and got a last-minute reservation… Which I was late for but I was accommodated nonetheless. The downstairs area is dedicated as a bar and lounge, with a decent size smoking patio. The upstairs is their a restaurant and oyster bar. We checked in with the host at the top of the stairs and were seated right away. The place was definitely booked… Our waiter greeted us and gave us his suggestions for drinks as well as the menu and after looking it over we took him up on the drink recommendations but went elsewhere on the menu. I ordered some jalapeño infused tequila drink that was delicious but definitely different. And, for dinner I had the FRIENDGAMEHEN, which was incredible. The bird is spliced into quarters, drizzled in honey, crushed pecans, DID I SAYFRIED, and perhaps the dopest touch has a piece of honeycomb laid on that mug. I mean, I guess it was alright. I also had a few bites of the crawfish mac and cheese, equally delicious as well as presented. We decided to not box up out leftovers but after a sudden change of plans I would of given anything to go back for them. I guess it just means I’ll have to pull up again. Which will also give em an excuse to try their dessert.

A corner office is something we all look as pristine work conditions at a company. But a corner two story restaurant in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles is phenomenal. When you walk in you’re invited into a world of black and white. A world where black ties and dress shirts are as common as the matte hues of blue on shorts and fedoras. However, there is a stain on this laundered establishment: the food. As a restaurant that focuses it’s menu on Creole and soul food, it takes you away from the cliché and over popularized dishes known of the south and instead invites you to get down and gritty with the flavors of every day people. However, something must’ve been lost in translation with the attempt of bringing something well known from the south and dressing it up in proper presentation for Los Angeles. The food felt accentuated with one highly intense note and nothing more. The marinated cauliflower salad was overpowered by bitterness. The smoked artic char rillettes jumped with a seafood flavor that didn’t meld well with the sweetness of the hoecake it came on. The pork chop was lost in the tomato flavors of the ragu. They all were beautifully presented but flavor wise fell flat and became unappetizing after a few bites. Not all is lost though. The chicken liver pâté was absolutely exquisite with buttery grilled baguette slices accompanying such a rich spread. The drinks were bountiful in intriguing notes and most importantly, the design of the interior is absolutely gorgeous. The upstairs boasts a view that cannot be hampered by even the grey of the surrounding buildings. Outside seating is as compelling as the inside dining room, if not more. Even the bathrooms were beautifully decorated with peacock wallpaper. Preux & Proper is not the greatest place to dine. There are better places just within a quarter mile radius of this place; however, as a place to congregate and mingle with other humans this place is up there. With a clean design, well displayed bar, beautiful veranda on the second floor, and a space much bigger than you’d expect Preux & Proper is a great place for both a drink after work or a great hangout for the weekend. Just remember to catch a bite elsewhere, before or after.

What drew me to this place was their frozen daiquiris – Preux and Proper has a wide selection of frozen daiquiris and they taste so delicious! But if you’re looking to turn up I wouldn’t suggest getting them because they’re not strong. I like the Strawberry flavor :) The bar itself is EXTREMELY loud… I was trying to have a conversation with my girlfriend and no matter how loud we yell we still couldn’t hear each other. In the end we snagged the table in the balcony – it was cold outside and the music was still pretty loud but a lot more bearable. So if you’re hoping to talk to anybody, I would recommend going elsewhere. There is no area in the bar(it’s a two-floored bar) where you can hear the person you’re trying to talk to… then what’s the point of coming to a bar? I think this needs to be improved upon.

I remember coming here when it was the funky Café Angelique serving country French &BYOB. Now a bit of iron grill work & gas lights have been added to create a different more colonial French atmosphere of Nouvelle Orléans where Cajun & Creole cuisine predominates. However, the food here at Preux is more of an homage to New Orleans w/no real intentions on creating authenticity. Chefs Prudhomme & Lagasse would not be particularly impressed. I guess that is where the French word, Preux, comes into play since it means«fearless». In other words Preux has the Chutzpah to go around giving the impression that the food here has a direct lineage to the Vieux Carré when it’s more of a Hollywoodized verisimilitude just like the actress Carmen Miranda was not a genuine cultural artifact of Brazil. The atmosphere at Preux is like going to a good natured party, loud, boisterous, lots of drinking going on since the bar does make some interesting cocktails such as the Sazerac which was born in New Orleans, & the Westside which is an herbal looking drink involving tons of crushed ice, cucumber & mint supposedly to cool off in the muggy, lazy heat of southern Louisiana. There is a downstairs & upstairs bar, but it seems that the higher vantage point of the second floor attracts a more well heeled crowd just like many times the homes up in the hills are tonier than the lowland abodes. I ate some appetizers from the«Downstairs» menu: The beignets that were served looked & had the heavy texture of a bland, dense pound cake. Poutine which originally is from Québec, Canada are French fries, in this case, w/a topping of North Carolina inspired pulled pork in a light almost clear meat sauce & may have been deliberately over salted to encourage more alcohol consumption since each cocktail is $ 15. My Sazerac made from JP Wiser Rye, Camus Cognac, Cane Sugar, touch of Absinthe was sweet yet later dry w/touch of smokiness; then comes a licorice, anise flavor that adds a bit of tongue numbing sensation. The Sazerac was a powerful pairing to the briny heaviness of the«hors d’oeuvres». I did Preux’s «Upstairs» menu of Crispy Duck Breast w/Anson Mill Coconut Grits, Juicy Roasted Peaches & Bourbon Butter Glaze. For $ 38, the presentation was lousy in a smallish stoneware bowl w/all the above food elements mashed & jammed together where you can’t see where one begins & the other one ends. A large white ceramic dish w/each food component composed thoughtfully would have upped the sophistication of this basically good tasting dish as well as adding eye appeal. The duck when you fished around to find it was really excellent… meaty, moist, generous w/a light fowl gaminess that was the centerpiece & anchor. I can’t say the duck was crispy, but the skin was pleasantly chewy adding more texture. Due to the extra searing of the skin, the duck comes out closer to medium than medium rare which works in this case because the surrounding food elements are rather sweet. The grits were very smooth, silky, comforting perfumed w/a bit of coconuttiness. The peaches were sugar sweetened confit cooked in its own juices & was soft & plush. It almost seemed like a meaty main course & dessert at the same time. Kind of like a peach cobbler w/duck. A bit of an herbal bitterness such as Arrugula would have been a good foil to all the sweet heaviness. In principal it was a more countrified, hearty analog to the classic Canard a l’Orange where the bitter orange flavoured Cointreau &/or Grand Marnier is the sweet element. All things considered, this duck was formidable. My friendly, helpful, informative bartender/mixologist recommended Saved which is a blend of Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Zinfandel, etc. which had tastes of dark cherry, plum, blackberries, touch of raspberry. It was sweet & smooth, but counter-balanced by a nice acidity & bit of bitter tannin. It was a great pairing to the sweetness & meatiness of this duck dish. Staff here is mellow, amiable, & aims to please. My bar-t w/dark hair & shorter stature was especially professional & sincere in his service. Bravo. 3+ Unilocal stars when everything is considered.

Preux + Proper took the four of us on a roller coaster ride; dinner started on a downward spiral, leveled out for a while, picked up speed, & ended on a peak. We left never having found that rush of excitement. Their Okra Gumbo received the most criticism. Stringy, slimy okra dashed all our hopes for whole, firm pieces. And the sticky rice was flavored with an off-putting Worcestershire. This disappointing dish came out first, almost as a harbinger of more food that would fall short of our expectations. After one piece each, our friends left the Fried Catfish to get cold. Mixed reviews for the duck with one person noting its lack of crispness & another declaring it one of the best he’s ever had. Coconut grits with an amazing peach drizzle totally redeemed the dish. Mac & Cheese w/Crawfish had a favor-packed crust, but no one was too fond of the soft noodles mixed with seafood. Preux + Proper did one sauce uncommonly well. Whatever sweet, green monster I dipped a Dungeness Crab Hushpuppy into was magic on my tongue. Marinated Cauliflower(served cold) & «Derrty Skreet Corn» were the most popular vittles, although I though the pork cracklings on the latter were hard & inedible. With our check came short glass jars, made for sampling frozen daiquiris at the lively bar downstairs. Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Granny’s Apple Pie, & Preux Punch were all delicious, sweet, & not too obviously alcoholic in taste. Thanks to these, dinner ended on a high note, but we aren’t having dinner here again. However, I could see us stopping by in the future for a couple frozen ones & engaging in a competitive game of shuffleboard.

I came here with 3 other girls on a Tuesday for a friend’s birthday dinner. We made reservations beforehand easily via OpenTable. This place is a New Orleans style restaurant, very cute and unique in concept and style! Downstairs is «Preux» which means brave or courageous in French and is their fun bar area. Think daiquiri machines, loud-ish music you could dance to if you really wanted to… basically a more social environment. They also have a small outdoor patio area with twinkling lights. Upstairs is «Proper» where dinner is served. A more calm and proper dining area, much quieter than downstairs, at least on a Tuesday night. We started with dinner here. We shared a bunch of dishes. The plates here were a lot bigger in portion than I expected. We were stuffed by the end! We tried the following: — Cocktails: I got the French 75 which was super light and had gin, champagne, and lemon. Tasted like juice. If you want something a little stronger but also refreshing, try the Westside! It’s vodka based and has cucumber, mint, bitters, and lime. Looks really pretty too! If you like mezcal which has a smoky taste, their Lemon Smash is a good choice. The mint and lemon in it balances out the smokiness of the mezcal. — SMOKEDBEEFHEARTTOAST w/lemon, shaved trinity, and domingo rojo beans. This was a lot bigger than I expected! It tasted pretty good and the flavors worked well together, but I didn’t love it. — BURRATA with house tasso, muffuletta relish, horseradish chimi. Yummy! Great starter dish! It had these crunchy bits on it… maybe they were pork cracklins? Not sure but this was definitely the most unique rendition of burrata I’ve ever had. Very southern style! Loved it! — FRIEDMISSISSIPPICATFISH w/house pickles, celery salt, and red remoulade. Best dish of the night! We all LOVED this! The fish was so moist and I loved the fried thin slices of pickles! MMMM! Definitely get this! — DERRTYSKREETCORN w/american chz, cool ranch, and pork cracklins. I was expecting corn kernels but this comes on the cob! You will definitely need a toothpick after this dish. I suggest not getting this if you’re a on a date haha. However, it was really tasty! — 24HOURBONELESSBEEFRIB w/parsnip purée, persillade, yams crunchies, and pot liquor demi. I didn’t really like the parsnip purée because it had this sour taste that I personally didn’t like, but the beef rib itself was delicious. — BEIGNETS w/banana rum dulce de leche: If you’re gonna get a dessert, get this one! They were light and delicious – like biting into a pillow! I loved the banana rum sauce they were dipped in but the beignets were slightly undercooked and a little too eggy/doughy on the inside. Almost perfect! They put a candle on it for my friend’s bday which was a nice touch! Our server was a really friendly, fun guy! I totally forgot his name but he was awesome! He even gave us a lagniappe, which I learned is a New Orleans custom and means a little something extra on the house. He gave each of us a small little glass jar to take downstairs to «Preux» and get a free daiquiri tasting. So cute and fun! I tried the Peaches & Cream which was delicious! We each got different flavors and enjoyed them outside in the patio. A sweet way to end the night. :) Parking: street or public lots

Perhaps a little overpriced for what it is, but the food and drinks are certainly decent. Went in with a friend, dropped considerably more $$ than we had anticipated, but were treated to a perfectly acceptable meal. I ordered a suicide daiquiri. Talk about your sugar rush! Might as well have gone to 7 – 11 and gotten a giant slurpee for the amount of syrup and sugar that I consumed. My friend was really impressed with her sazerac. For food, we shared the blue crab hushpuppies, arctic char rillettes, buratta, and duck. I was surprised at the variety on their menu, because the version they have listed on the website is relatively limited and underwhelming. The hushpuppies were really good. And they weren’t shy with the crab meat either. Tasted more like crab cakes than your generic fried balls of cornmeal. I really enjoyed the char rillette. Spread over a flattened«hoe cake», it ate almost like a salmon spread on top of a large blini. The ikura roe on top was a nice touch. The burratta appetizer was sadly underwhelming. Nothing but a ball of burratta(which ordinarily is not a problem) served on top of shaved pork meat and a sauce that was completely overpowered by the flavor of raw onion. At the very least, there needed to be some bread or something to spread everything out on. The duck was a real knockout. Perfectly cooked duck breast served on a bed of coconut grits. Never thought that coconut grits would work so well, but trust me, it does. Next time, we’ll have to try one of their desserts, which I hear are also legit. Apparently the restaurant also has a policy of handing out free daiquiri tasters after your meal, so that’s definitely a bonus!

Checked in a few nights ago to check out their new menu. It’s amazing! Must stop by, this is the place to be for great Cajun food. I reserved my table days before so I wouldn’t wait long. Brought the family along. Service is great, from walking in and being greeted by the host to the busser being attentive and helpful. Waiter was knowledgable with new menu and drinks. Food is amazing! I went all out! Punch bowl is awesome to order for your table! I’ll go into detail of each dish in the picture detail. I’m excited to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Had my birthday dinner here last night… And everything was amazing. I see that previous reviewers can discourage anyone so let me touch on the few common reviews I see– and only because they made me a little nervous about going. «The ambiance, it’s too loud»: well duh, you sat downstairs near the bar, and from how long ago it was. Welcome to March Madness at a bar! Anyway, you can sit upstairs and be happy in a less loud area. I would love for someone to tell me where in DTLA they find a nice quiet place where not a sound is heard. «The menu change Unilocal didn’t tell me»: so go to their website? Call? I don’t rely on Unilocal for menus that are made by other people and not the actual business. And no, the little easy is insanely overpriced. «Ginormous portions»: well duh, this is family style. Meaning you share amongst a group. Service was great. Staff were friendly, very inviting.

With an underground music event happening in DTLA, my Indian he friend and I decided to catch-up, sit, talk and have dinner before heading to the event. After doing some Unilocaling for best restaurants in DTLA, Preux and Proper is one of highly rated –therefore, I came to the conclusion it’s worth at least a visit. This southern inspired restaurant highlights two opposite socioeconomic scenes of New Orleans. If you ever been to New Orleans, the downstairs area captures the somewhat casual, party-esque scene of the French Quarters –highlighting a frozen daiquiri bar that’ll eventually get you or your friends earning or throwing beads. While the upstairs dining room offers a more refined dining experience reminiscent of the Uptown wealthy neighborhood of New Orleans– where one would just wear pretty beads. There is a full service bar and different music genres playing in both areas. I made reservations for dinner upstairs, although we enjoyed a cocktail and took in the scene in the downstairs area. I was highly and easily amused with the frozen daiquiri bar! I haven’t seen one of those since Miami, during the 90’s –when it seemed like all bars had them. Service was okay, nothing over the top or honorable mention… So lets talk about the food. I thoroughly enjoyed the crab hush puppies w/green hot sauce, boil spice and poblano butter $ 14 and the carrots –I didn’t realize the carrots was a new addition to the menu and didn’t inquire or take note of the cost( Unilocaler fail –oops!). We also shared the burrata w/house tasso, muffuletta relish and horseradish chimi $ 15. For a taste of New Orleans inspired cuisine, without traveling all the way to Louisiana –check out Preux and Proper. Certainly won’t disappoint. I’d go back to try other dishes.

Review for the bar area only! We strolled here on a rainy random Wednesday night and the bar area downstairs was pretty empty. The bar is situtated in between two pretty busy streets downtown so it gives you that feeling you are in NYC or something with so many cars and people passing you by. The rain that day added to the effect. We got in before happy ended so we ordered a couple rounds of the house IPA and classes of wine and we were happy campers. Service was very attentive and we even got some bites to eat but nothinng really memorable. A cool spot to grab pre dinner drinks(theres also a cool chinese fusion spot next door to go for dinner). Will be back for a casual HH drink sometime!

My husband and I came here for a good friend’s birthday dinner. Without knowing much about«Preux & Proper,» we were greeted by the unpleasantly loud hip hop music when we arrived at the bar on the first floor. I whispered to my husband and said: «this is so not our scene.» But since we had committed to this engagement, we decided to just play it by ears and go with the flow. Luckily, the restaurant on the second floor was totally a different vibe. The music wasn’t playing as loud. And with the table setting around the bar, one can actually carry on a dinner conversation without screaming his or her heads off. Anyway, here’s what we had ordered: — Kumamoto Oysters: Ever since I discovered these small little jewels from the sea, I’ve been obsessed. Naturally, I decided to order a round of these babies. Fresh from Humboldt Bay, these oysters were so fresh and juicy. — Crawfish Remoulade: Fresh deshell crawfish mixd with remoulade and served with fresh lettuce. My husband and my friend thought it was too fishy, the birthday boy and I on the other hand thought this dish was heaven. — Derrty Skreet Corn: Though it was messy to eat, I must say this BBQ corn was delicious. The cheese and the ranch seasoning(which also included bacon bits) were perfection. — Smoked Beef Heart Toast: The beef heart was actually served cold, and they’re very chewy, I must say. I thought it was alright. — House Andouille: House sausage with baked beans and fried gorditas. To this day I still haven’t figured out exactly what’s inside of the gorditas(it tasted like sweet potato,) we all thought this dish was another must-have. The sausage was seasoned with just right amount the flavors, it wasn’t salty like I had expected. — Foie Gras Torchon: Served with smoked strawberries, pound cake, and fruity pebbles. Yes, that fruity pebbles you eat with milk! Shockingly, the sweet and crisp fruity pebbles compliments the creamy foie gras torchon heavenly. — Cliché Duck Breast: Came with coconut grits and roasted peaches. Frankly, I thought the duck was a bit too fatty, it was almost too heavy for me after the second bite. With that being said, the rest of the table enjoyed it very much. Overall, Preux & Proper really exceeded my expectation effortlessly. And when we were about to leave, we each were given a small mason jar so we get to taste various frosty frozen daiquiris from the bar on the first floor(go easy on them, they’re actually quite strong.) I highly recommend this place for a fun a reasonably priced dinner.
