I came here to look for cheap, comfortable heels for an event. When I entered the store, I was greeted by two employees that were restocking the shelves. They have a large selection of shoes from sandals to boots. So why you ask of the 2 stars? Well… after finding the most comfortable heels, I noticed the harsh scratch on the front of the heels so I asked one of the employees if there were any others in stock. She looked at me, told me «it’s what we have out here,» took my heels and walked to my size, took a quick glimpse of the aisle and said«nope.» Disappointed that they didn’t have those heels, I asked another lady if she could help me find another location for the same heels. Gladly, she agreed. After seeing that I asked somebody else, the lady who first helped me walked over, said something in Spanish, and looked at me. I know… maybe she was just having a side conversation, but it’s a bit rude. Never have I ever felt so uncomfortable at a shoe store. They continue speaking Spanish as I stand there waiting and finally, the second lady reserves shoes for me at another location. The customer service here is so-so. I remember coming here a couple years before when they had another manager and the service was superb. Unfortunately, the newer workers here seem as though they hate their job and don’t really want to be there.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I wear Payless shoes. Payless. Although you wouldn’t have guessed it. I don’t wear Payless exclusively. I intermix them with my shoes that I buy from Barney’s or Prada’s sale as well as DSW. What can I say? I am an equal opportunity shoe whore. I’ve bought a few pairs of shoes here over the last few years and I have received compliment on every single pair of them. Sometimes the padding of their shoes aren’t the best, in that case I spring forth the extra two bucks to buy their sole padding as well. Also, they are particularly good when the shoes are slightly big. Ladies, try this! It will make a lot of your shoes more wearable(as long as they are not too small to begin with). I’ve found that just coz you spend more money on a clothing item, it doesn’t mean that it will complete your outfit. The important thing is that you have to understand your body type, your style, your age, shop within your budget and have fun with it. Payless is a great way to complement your shoe wardrobe, especially for those unpractical red kitten heels that you otherwise won’t be able to justify the cost of!
