They take their name very seriously here. It was my first time, the menu is already confusing and the guy working didn’t feel like answering any of my questions. They are rude(seriously the guy was an actual real life weho asshole) and the salad wasn’t that good either. Don’t waste your time or $ 26(for two salads). I could have had an awesome salad at a nice restaurant for that price tag. Also getting there is annoying, unless you’re headed north on Fairfax– good luck.

So … I’m kind of obsessed with this place right now. Everything is custom and made to order. You can select either a salad or a wrap. From there, you select what type of lettuce, toppings & protein. The pricing depends on what types of toppings & proteins you select. I’ve been a bunch of times & i order the same thing, but i really can’t tell you how the pricing actually works. It’s a little confusing. I’m sure if i asked, they’d explain it in more detail. But, i really don’t care. Now, i haven’t tried the wraps, since they’re not really my thing, but the salads are AWESOME!!! Fresh ingredients & always tasty. I finally got my husband one(since he wanted to see what all the fuss was about), and he was really impressed as well … he’s definitely a Mean Green fan now! I go a couple of times per week. Love this place. I definitely recommend!!!

Decent salad, the pricing system is not very clear. Options are good and ingredients very fresh, but overall experience is mediocre.

OBSESSED with Mean Greens! A great, quick stop for a healthy and filling meal! Great vegan options! So many choices and you can choose it all as a salad or wrap, definitely a wide range to switch it up every time. Awesome selection of dressings — and vegan ones! Super clean and really friendly employees! Cutest little offer at the end under«An apple a day…» with a basket of apples and you may take one! I literally always leave with a smile! Go go go, run to Mean Greens! Oh! And free parking off Fairfax to the north of the building!

I REALLY wanted to like Mean Greens. But it’s… Mean. mean in terms of their pricing structure. You’ll get taken if you choose more than one«protein»(apparently eggs and bacon are a protein) add on avocado and you’re talking a $ 14 chopped salad. With no real protein like chicken or shrimp. You get so much more for the money at SweetGreen. Head there instead.

Thank God it’s just across the street from the Melrose Trading Post because all that shopping made me weak and hungry. I was so pleasantly surprised I could calm my appetite with yummy, healthy food fast. I’d shopped so vigorously today and was almost in a hypoglycemic coma so the cool, fun ambiance made me wanna hang out fill up. Huge salad(so many topping choices) with grilled shrimp, avocado and insanely yummy pear Gorgonzola dressing for a lil more than 11ish? bucks. I could only eat ½ so had the rest for dinner. best cookies too. Not sure why it’s under vegan because there are plenty o non vegan protein options.

I live around the corner and pass this place on the daily but haven’t gone in until today. The owner, Andrew, is very friendly and hooked me up with the most tasty chicken and Cajun shrimp wrap! All the veggies are fresh, they have a great selection of greens, toppings and of course, sauces and cater to vegans and non with their selection. It’s reasonably priced and healthy! Absolutely will be back, 100%

Located on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose, this place is really as good as it gets. It is basically like Build-A-Bear for salads! Awesome concept. You go in and pick the type of greens you want for your salad along with the toppings and protein! I believe they offer five different types of greens for you to choose from. Your salad automatically comes with two different type of proteins(whatever you choose) and you can always add more for an additional fee. They have special salad dressings in addition to your traditional dressings… and the good thing about this place is that you can make any salad a wrap – at no additional cost! Yum! Mean greens can become pretty pricey if you overdo it. I walked out paying $ 40 for 1 salad, 1 wrap, and 2 drinks. We did add some additional protein though. In addition to all of its goodness, Mean Greens is also very cute and eco friendly!

Free apples, free ice cream, free parking, great food. I’m sold. I’d be here every day if this place was closer to my house. Super spotless location, no fancy frills when it comes to décor, just a clean modern design(think Pinkberry of the Salad world). Super friendly customer service. Vegetarian and Vegan options, easy menu with so many options. Kombuchas, coconut water. Outdoor seating. Mean Greens rocks.

Unfortunately I have to dock a couple stars from Mean Greens because they recently cut half of their meat toppings and absolutely jacked up their prices! Not cool, Mean Greens! The salads are really good but are CRAZYEXPENSIVE now! A typical salad costs $ 9.99! It comes with two scoops of protein(i.e. meat) if you so desire, and it used to be that you get an additional two scoops for $ 2.00 extra. Now it’s $ 2.50 for each additional scoop, meaning two extra scoops of meat is $ 5.00!(The scoops are small, so that’s an outrageous price.) If you’re a meat eater like me, you need to have a lot of meat on the salad. However, since the salads are not huge, you’re looking at possibly spending upwards of $ 16.00. That’s INSANE! It’s almost like they’re trying to wean people off meat and make them vegetarians. And they charge $ 2.00 for a bottle of water? Where the hell am I, Dodger Stadium??! Bottom line, if you’re loaded and a vegan/vegetarian/green fanatic, go here if you want a tasty salad with organic ingredients. But if you’re a meat eater and like to have chicken salads and plenty of protein, be prepared to spend A LOT. And on top of all that, the staff wants tips. Here’s a tip: if you want to survive as a business, maybe consider having your prices at affordable rates!

First time here and this is a great simple place to enjoy a salad creation you make yourself. Décor is clean and simple. Lots of choices to pick from as far as toppings and your protein you want on. Even the salad dressings you can sample to decide which one fits your salad creation today. And you have the option to get it chopped up as well or leaves the greens in whole pieces. Wasn’t to busy there was 4 of us and we were able to get a table. I was also glad to see Bai drinks… so I picked Ipanema Pomegranate. Will visit again definitely when I am in the area.

More than once I’ve driven thirty minutes out of my way to pick up a salad for take-out. This place satisfies so many needs. The easy way to describe it is «the Subway of Salads,» but it’s so much fresher and varietal than Subway, so that comparison is a bit unfair. Mean Greens operates in a similar way to Subway or Chipotle: pick a salad or a wrap then go down the line and add ingredients and toppings until you’re done. There’s a variety of greens to pick from — baby kale is usually a winner for me. Then I just go down the line and with each color coordinated stripe, the price point increases. There’s a lovely variety of dressings as well, and they’ll give you as much or as little as you request – no unwanted soggy salads here. Always, always ask for it chopped — it melds the flavors and makes everything smooth and delicious. My salads, when completed, are heavy — easily enough for one meal with leftovers, or two decent meals(the salads are so good it’s easy to eat a lot, even for a salad!) I average about $ 11 for one of these laden salads. Also, free parking! Cons: Meat toppings are pretty slim pickings for those of you who like that. I’d rather get proteins from avocados, beats, eggs, etc., and those are plentiful and good. There’s no promise of free-range or organic on many of the bar items either; only some of the greens choices, like the locally-sourced Malibu Farms. Garbanzo beans and possibly even the beets are straight from cans, so not as fresh and promising as some of the other ingredients. There are a couple of cheese options but would like to see more. There’s a cooler of teas and bottled juices, but would love more options in the beverage department as well.

Cool salad bar concept that’s done Chipotle style with the assembly line, have-it-your-way system. Pick and choose what you’d like to go into your salad or wrap. A friend ended up opting for a healthier arugula salad option topped with olives, garbanzo beans, sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, chicken & eggs — While I chose a not so healthy alternative wrap including romaine lettuce, red onions and avocado(that’s it for veggies) haha, cheese, Steak, Shrimp, BACON, and fried crunchy onions tossed in sriracha ranch dressing and wrapped up in a tortilla. That bacon, fried onions, proteins and cheese seriously delivered the flavor it needed. Would definitely return for their wraps or salads loaded with bacon & cheese. :) Beauty is you could go as healthy as you’d like or load it up with heartier toppings and crunchy nibblings. Good stuff.

I’m going to have to concur with the review of fellow Elite Unilocaler, David Y. This place serves greens on a platinum platter far above and beyond the average bar… to be perfectly honest —- as I see it, right about now,…THEYARETHEBAR!!! I literally just departed«Mean Greens» for lunch about an hour ago when a colleague suggested… wait, scratch that —INSISTED— we eat a well balanced, healthy meal and I can by far attest to the fact that this place does NOT disappoint! Located conveniently on Fairfax, parking is easily accessed by way of an adjacent lot which speaks volumes with reference to getting in and getting back out on those hectic days when you haven’t a ton of time to spare. Walking in, the selection is gi’normous! You’re actually enabled the options of purchasing a salad or a wrap. I chose the salad and was nothing short of blown away by the selection of items to choose from. To further it, by checking in on Unilocal, there’s a $ 4 – 5.00 off(your order of $ 30 or more) coupon. SWEEET!— Whoever stated this place to be reminiscent of Gelson’s or Bristol Farms was clearly sniffing some type of Ranch-infused glue upon composing their review. This place ROCKS!!!, and even more so would be the fact that all of their produce is California(Oxnard, if I’m correct) grown. And while add on’s can do just that… add on, relatively quickly, I consider this place to be an absolute investment. If not to your health, then to your budget altogether. $ 13 on one salad roughly equates to $ 6.50×2 days. With all that you’re getting at this place, trust me, you’re GUARANTEED leftovers, leaving your wallet to collect well… some MEANGREENS —– * freeapplesoncounter

The ordering system is going to be a little confusing if the staff doesnt explain it to you correctly, but the color strips on glass on the counter helped explain things. The ingredients are fresh and it’s very delicious. The salad has a bigger portion than the wrap, and it is very filling because of the volume of the food. Once they put the greens into the bowl, the bowl will seem kind of full to the brim. Please do not be intimidated like I was, because leafy greens can flatten y’all. So pick as many toppings as you please with no guilt that you’re asking too much, because you’re already paying for it anyway. There’s a free self serve water station, and a «recycle» or «compost» bin to compartmentalize your waste after you’re done eating. What a nice eco-friendly touch. Given the choice between chopped or tossed, choose chopped. Always. Please. Obey and be thankful.
