This is my favorite café in West Hollywood. That someone would regard it as pretentious and/or too slow is, in my opinion, outright silly. It’s French. And they make everything to order. I feel completely at ease sitting down on my laptop doing work for hours on end. It’s light, airy, full of original artwork, and simply wonderful. The owner is super sweet, and very down-to-earth. And believe me– I dislike pretentious more than anyone. It’s not that at all. Just authentically divine :-). Oh, and the coffee is fantastic too!

The place has some cool décor, but it misses something. I went to order a coffee today and I didn’t feel like sitting. The tables were set with plates, it felt that only customers who will order a full breakfast are allowed to sit. There are not prices on pastries, it’s a little hard to figure out. I walked to Joann on third instead and sat happily there…

If this place were a font, it would be Monotype Corsiva on thin copy paper– a bit unsuccessfully pretentious. Come on, who are you kidding? I came with a friend for breakfast on a Wednesday morning because I was always intrigued by the all-white furniture. The intrigue fades, however, when you explore more of the interior: plastic orchids in clear glass vases & marbles, really bad quasi-modernist/graffiti paintings, and even a section for selling tacky jewelry. The Ikea bookcases are filled with raids from a European grocer: Bonne Maman jam for $ 10? No thanks. You have to order at the counter first before sitting down with your number.. . which is written on plastic with a sharpie. Their menus are clearly hand-made and warped with wet-glue waves, garnished with a fake purple flower petal, metallic glitter, and spelling typos.(I saw the«chef» use sour cream with the smoked salmon instead of their written«CREAMFRASHE» haha. It seemed like the only servers available were the owners — they were nice, but it was just a very hilarious dining experience. The food was okay. The portions are huge and the prices are really not that bad judging by the location, but like I said, the food is just okay.

What a cute French café!!! I discovered this gem while having to wait for a restaurant near-by– This café is definitely unique and very… girly inside with white walls, pretty furniture, mirros and chandeliers… which definitely caught my attention! It’s also a gallery where you can walk around in –yes, we were somewhat confused what this place was… You can also tell that it’s very ‘French’ with the menu and their accent! Friendly owners who hand out the 2 menus & the worker who makes your drinks right in front of you! We got a smoothie and a fruit juice, which both were very fresh and NOTSWEET, thanks to him asking us how much sugar we wanted… etc. Very appropriate question by the way *wink* Yes, it is somewhat pricey for a juice and it wasn’t the best tasting… True, it took him a while and I can see that it might take a while to receive your order OR to even place an order, but I liked this spot very much! I would come back here another time with girlfriends for sure!

We tried to get a table outside at «Simple things» since we brought our dog with us. The wait was too long so we decided to eat at Marcelita. Big mistake! this place is a joke It took 37 minutes to get our food, and once it arrived we waited another 5 minutes for silverware. The food was just terrible except for the crape we got for desert. I walked inside to pay since they were understaffed and realized that all the food was prepared in an area with no stove or hood. It looks to me that $ 8 tea couldn’t pay the rent so they decided to add crapes eggs and sandwiches.

I walked past Marcelits’s on my way to Pilates class… but I couldn’t figure out what it was — so I wandered in one day. To my surprise, I stumbled into a little slice of heaven right on 3rd street. I found myself having a delicious little pot of green tea while eating an amazing ham & cheese croissant… loving all the beautiful flower arrangements, artwork and objets ‘dart surrounding me as I sat in a really comfortable wing chair, imagining I was in Paris, only for a moment. I’ve had their crepes and some confections and I plan to continue to go there often. Marcelita and her husband are wonderful, loving artists who have created an atmosphere that is very different and very beautiful with food worthy of a fine café on the Champs-Élysée.

This adorable little café/art gallerie in the heart of 3rd street is very cosy yet open inside with some tables on the sidewalk. The owners are really sweet and helpful. The menu is small but everything is delicious, the breakfast eggs, the salads, the crepes, etc. The vibe is reminds me of Abbott Kinney. I highly recommend it!

Excellent, spacious French café. The owners are very sweet and usually hanging out as well. The menu is limited but diverse: my father could find something low-carb for diet and my girlfriend was able to find something vegetarian. The Sunday breakfast was an all inclusive meal that came with smoked salmon on toast with cream cheese, scrambled eggs, iceberg lettuce salad, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a latte, cappuccino or tea. This meal felt lavish and elegant and only cost $ 14.95. There is something about such a complete, delicious meal on fresh baked bread that really makes this place special. I highly recommend coming here for brunch or just swinging by for an espresso drink. The owners are very sweet and the food was all excellent.

I live down the street from this place and absolutely love it! I am super picky about everything too!(very scrutinizing and ask a lot of questions about origins of foods being served etc.)The owner, Michelle and his wife, Marcelita are super sweet and friendly and just recently moved here from Miami. He use to work for the king of Morocco making these amazing very modern looking Orchid arrangements which are all over the store. There are some really cool photos on the walls for sale and some jewelry, home stuff and a little clothing. Very clean place, set up for WI-FI with top quality salads, sandwiches, and pastries. I had this very fresh and amazing smoked salmon plate(with organic greens french bread and salmon roe for like 12. dollars) and a Moroccan tea on another day which was so nice.(I have not checked about the quality of teas but enjoyed what I had). This morning, I got an almond croissant there and thought it was so perfect(buttery, flaky) made by pastry chef of Little Door who I think is French ;) So, I had to write this to help this small business get noticed. You all know how L.A. is… everyone goes where the action is and sometimes not necessarily where the quality is. I put four stars only because I have not finished my investigation on this place and it is a new place that can use slight help with a few things which are minor and very fixable. My boyfriend, just called me the modern day Mother Theresa because I want to help people all the time, but only if they are good Ha! Ha!

Came in here for a quick cup of coffee and was glad that they used Italian espresso(they have a beautiful Italian machine, too!) Chatted with the owner, who was obviously stressed out, as some of the things she needed were late. She told me of French pastries that will be coming soon as well as other items, so I am looking forward to seeing them grow. Adorable tea sets and coffee table books, too. Four stars from five because while, the coffee itself was good quality, my iced latte(the cup was about a standard medium) only had one shot of espresso, which made for a very creamy and weak latte. Had they done the standard double shot for a medium sized cup and perhaps offered any flavored syrups(namely vanilla), then it would be 5 stars.

I received a DailyCandy email alerting me of this new tea salon on 3rd St., and since I had planned on being in the area anyway, I thought I’d stop on by. It’s a very nice space — I love the royal purple exterior! Inside, it’s all about white, highlighting the art and making it pop. There are quite a few tables and chairs, beckoning you to take a load off and stay a while. The products they serve, however, didn’t really thrill me like I’d hoped. When I hear«tea salon,» I usually anticipate them to blend their own teas. Not the case here. Instead they serve a limited number of teas from The Art of Tea, which I’m sure is fine for most people, but I was a little bummed. They also have Paulette macarons(yum!) and pastries from The Little Door. I didn’t memorize the price list, but it seemed far more expensive than if I had bought my macarons at Paulette myself, or gotten a pot of the same brand of tea at Susina. What you’re paying for, really, is having all of these nice French foods in one place. Even though I wasn’t won over by the selection and prices, I bought a cup of tea to go since I was there. What a surprise I had when I accidentally gulped down a few chrysanthemum petals!!! I opened my cup and saw flowers. I understand this particular tisane is pretty, but it’s in a to-go cup, I can’t see it with the lid on. After a few failed attempts to strain it with my teeth(yuck), I gave up and tossed my $ 3.50 cup of tea. And I never waste tea! This is a lovely place if you plan on sitting down and sharing a pot of(strained!) tea. You’ll be paying for convenience and atmosphere, which I’m sure is worth it for many. I’ll make it a point to stop back in again once they’ve settled in.
