Home Made Tortillas Make This a Go-To Destination Restaurant I’m mad about home made, hand patted tortillas. No, not the thin machine– made corn tortillas that are so dry they can choke you, but thick soft moist corn tortillas, made from masa corn meal, that are hand patted out by an old woman over hot bricks and toasted to perfection and served to order, piping hot.. I can’t think of but a handful of restaurants that have them. But this dumpy little hole in the wall on the outskirts of Venice has got them. Add to that treasure, a decent average or better menu and delicious margarittas, and you have got the makings of a really good time – a cheap buzz, great food, and low prices. It doesn’t get much better than this..

Erratic opening and closing hours… spotty service… not the best Cuban food make this place an iffy proposition. The dining area is nicely appointed, but the experience from there is lacking in quality.

I am always a fan of going here with my family when I come back to LA. It has turned into a recent tradition for us to go here for good Mexican food. I went here in October and had a great time. We went with Margaritas and and I had an enchilada special. This past Christmas I was here and had El Rojo burrito… which was very tasty, but I ended up with food poisoning the next day… still, I forgive you La Cabana as the food has been good here most of the time.

I haven’t eaten the food here, so this review is really based entirely on the margaritas and atmosphere of the restaurant, which were both pretty amazing. They have three people playing guitar and singing, going from table to table, and the décor of the restaurant makes you feel like you’re in a Mexican villa. The margaritas were good, but this place is really just incredibly fun and I recommend it highly! P. S. The waitor seemed to lose a lot of interest in us as a table(went from very nice to a sourpuss) when we only ordered margaritas, which is why I took off one star.

I ended up here saturday night for my friend’s b-day party. We got seated in the back. Overall the food was decent, but they definitely give you enough to put you to sleep. I’m not sure why I was drinking rum and coke’s at a Mexican place, but I think it might have to do with the fact I have like ZERO tolerance for tequila. My friend’s wife asked me to give a speech about him, and I cycled through my stories that didn’t require censorship and came up short. I arrive back at my car to find that the block where my car was parked had been police lined off. When I asked the cop what happened, he said«oh, there was a shooting, we’ll have you out of here in a minute.» So I waited for a few minutes and he said«Actually, the guy with the camera is taking forever to show up, so let’s get you out of here.» In my head I was thinking, «dude, you guys should watch some CSI and learn how to investigate.» But it turned out there was nobody hit just some idiot firing off rounds. So, now Venice Beach and College Station, TX have something in common.

Just came back from eating here and it was awesome. First of, let me start by saying that its opened until 3am, its a great place to hit up after a night out. I haven’t had the chance to sit in the patio but I did get to hear the mariachi band and it really adds to the ambiance. Their service is quick and efficient, the food comes out very quickly so you don’t have to wait forever for your food. The margaritas are also delicious. I really don’t have anything bad to say about them. The only reason for the 4 stars is that I think that the inside of their restaurant could use some updating, although its not dirty or sloppy in any way I just feel that they can definitely upgrade certain things to make this place even better!

I love this place! Sit on the cool outdoor patio(awesome ambience!), and let the Mariachi band serenade you + your company. Check out the margarita list, and semi– extensive tequila selection. The food here is pretty standard Mexican cusine, but definitely on the better side! I think the entire experience(cool patio + drink selection + delish«feel-good» Mexican food) nessecitates that I give La Cabana 4 stars! You’ll leave with a buzz and a doggie bag!

Good Mexican food with a great patio, great ambiance, late hours(3 am), fresh tortillas, and fabulous margaritas(splurge and get the more expensive ones). The service service can be a bit surly, but the place’s charm and ability to accommodate large groups more than makes up for it. I recommend avoiding the fish dishes. They are some of the healthier items, but they are generally not that fresh and fairly rubbery. Park across the street at the Big Lots parking lot. reservations for groups larger than 8.

Food is terrible. Horrible fish tacos – tasted like Gordon’s fish sticks with tartar sauce. Think Taco Bell shredded cheese sprinkled on your guac. They do have good margaritas, an acceptable tequilla selection, and a nice outdoor patio.

The best margaritas on earth. Honestly. Plus, the food ain’t shabby, either. I like the atmosphere and the service. This is a great place to bring friends and astound them with you knowledge of dive restaurants.
