I’ve given the boba at this place multiple chances. I’ve tried winter melon(not bad) and something with jasmine(decent). Today was the final chance. I tried the taro and was completely disappointed in how flavorless and in the gritty texture. I’ve heard the coffee is good but I haven’t given it a try. Definitely won’t be going back for the boba.

Pros: Cool spot with wide variety! Cons: $ 4 coffee. Starbucks and Coffee Bean next door is half that for better coffee. No wifi. Come of if you want to be a bakery /café step it up on the coffee and wifi!

Live right upstairs, so i probably get jj Bakery twice or three times a week. Employees are nice. Pastries are good, id recommend the ham cheese and bacon or the meat lovers pastry. Mango smoothie boba is also delicious! Free 30 minute parking underneath.

I finally got to try out the Portuguese Egg Tarts — yummy!!! The first time when my supervisor got me one during her lunch break, and again today. I do like the flakey crust — it’s soft and buttery, though it does flake a lot during each bite. The egg itself is soft and creamy, and it has more of a chewy texture, and a crème burlee like glaze on top. For $ 1.65 — I dig it! For sure cheaper than the ones sold at Keewah Bakery in Monterey Park! Best part of getting these egg tarts today — LOL, I got one for my two(Asian and Caucasian) supervisors, and my Asian supervisor(the one who raved to me about this) was so happy — I kid you not, woofed down that puppy within 5mins right before her 10:30am meeting, lol, yay!). That elevated her mood even more than a Starbucks coffee, lol! My other supervisor was gonna save it for after the meeting to eat with his lunch, lol! I also got two Danish hotdogs for my snack time too. Love the Danish croissant — puffy and crispy with a hotdog inside. Perfect for AM/PM work snack, yay! The Oreo Sea Salt Cream Milk Tea $ 3.75 — was smooth and creamy too. Not overly sweet. The fine grounded oreos added a nice touch, but can get easily stuck in your teeth. Just do a teeth check before you smile :) Happy to upgrade this one star since I got my Portuguese Egg Tarr fixes, woohoo!

SOHAPPPPPPYYYYYYJJ opened up in LA, mainly for their mochi-wrapped strawberry cakes. I can finally get my hands on those perfect little mounds of deliciousness basically anytime I want. They also make green tea and mango for those, but just pass on both and go with the strawberry. Don’t even think about it. STRAWBERRY. Their other pastries, fan tuan rolls(sold only at JJ café’s) and milk teas are all delicious, too. However, the mochi cakes are what make them so, sooooo special. It’s basically a layer of soft cake with fluffy/airy whipped cream and whole strawberries all wrapped in this thin, soft, and semi-chewy sheet of delicate mochi. Love them for so many reasons. a) DELICIOUS, I’ve said that already b) perfect in size c) perfect for parties, presentation is simple and easy to eat, and those who don’t care for super sweet things will love them, because they’re not super sweet at all. They’re just perfect. Mmmmm(heart)

I went late Sunday night so the selection was picked over but still pretty good for a Sunday night. I tried the crème brûlée and the mango moose. Both tasted fresh, flavorful, and were really aesthetically pleasing. Would go back.

I use to love the JJ bakery outpost in Arcadia in my youth, but now I realize the breads here are super greasy and not great at all. The oily residue on the bottom of the packaged goods(especially on the Danishes) is an example of that. I visited this location at the end of the day and tried the Puff Pastry Milk Bun and Pineapple Danish with buttermilk. The Puff Pastry Milk Bun was undercooked, flat and not flaky at all. It also took me a while to get to the custard in the inside. The buttermilk in the Pineapple Danish had a really weird texture and stayed in a hard lump in the center. I threw both away lol. The only things worth getting here are the Hokkaido toast and Hokkaido cake. Both are super light, fluffy, and just amaze. Other than that, JJ is a disappointment and I would recommend going somewhere else to satisfy your carb cravings!

I have been here a total of four times now. If you’re into the super sweet/heavy kind of baked goods, then this place might not be your favorite. I personally prefer a lighter take on baked goods and cream fillings with a tinge of sweetness rather than an overload, and I would say this place delivers on that aspect. The texture of the bread is really soft and fluffy in general, too, like their Hokkaido bread and their roll cakes. Price-wise they are just a little bit cheaper than Korean bakeries around the area. While I thoroughly enjoy the bread variety here, I gotta say I wrote this review because this place achieved Holy Grail™ status for me in terms of their Jasmine Fresh Milk Tea. And yes, there is a difference between their fresh milk teas and their regular milk teas, which is that the regular milk tea is a bit sweeter than the fresh milk teas. The fresh milk teas use regular milk although I can’t remember what the other one uses. You can adjust the sweetness level of your drink accordingly, etc, etc. Let me get to the actual jasmine fresh milk tea I’m reviewing. This stuff is Amazing. I’ve never had such a strong aroma of jasmine in a milk tea, I swear I had a whole garden full of jasmine flowers blooming in my mouth. You can Legit Taste the Flavor of jasmine. If you’re a fan of jasmine milk teas and you’re sad about how little jasmine you can taste in it, just come here and walk straight over to the counter and buy one. The prices are so decent too, as the small is $ 2.75(at the time of this review ofc). I haven’t had it with boba yet so I can’t comment on the boba itself. I can’t… get over this drink. Oh, and the staff is really friendly and there is indoor seating, too. If you’re in the area of Vermont/Wilshire I would def give this place a try.

Good price and yummy cakes. I generally do not have much of a sweet tooth and don’t like icing. But I have a weakness for cream. I found this popular Taiwanese bakery in K-town near office! They have my favorite chestnut cake. Chestnut purée & a ball of crème fraîche over soft chestnut chocolate cake. Not very sweet which I love. Heaven! They also have a variety of bread, desserts & tea. Parking on the side street or underground, parking entrance on Shatto Place.

I got the Hokkaido Chiffon and the Crème Brulee. The Hokkaido chiffon wasn’t half bad-my brother seemed to enjoy it, but the crème brûlée-which I’m currently eating, is awful. No offense to the bakery, but the caramel crust on top is more of a glaze on the glazed donuts at Krispy Kreme. The texture of it is so pretty solid for a crème brûlée, not what I’m used to. When you get to the bottom, it gets watery and there’s some sort of liquid(probs water). DEFINITELY not worth the 2.75 that I paid for it. Everything here is decently priced, not too expensive like some other local bakeries. Might return soon.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Half of their items aren’t good. But the ones I like such as the Hokkaido bread(it has delicious cream in the middle and has a super soft cotton candy like bread) and the meat lovers bread is pretty good but I do with that they scattered the toppings a bit instead of separating them. The green onion with sausage bread isn’t that good and way too salty. The fruit cream cake has cream that taste chemical-ish(like stabilized cream and not fresh cream) the chocolate layered cake also had the nasty cream. the strawberry layered pudding in the little jar had a weird texture of baby food and also tasted bad. The cheesecake in a cup cake on top was crumbly and not a good mix with the heavy thick cheesecake on the bottom layer. The Hokkaido milk tea was good beside the super strong tea flavor that shocked my palate but in a bad way. As for the service it was great. The workers are all smiling and welcome the customers when they come in. I still haven’t tried a lot of their items yet so this review may change after I try more items. I see ppl are raving about the mochi so I will try that next. Everything in the bakery is cheap so I can get what ever I want including drink for under 20 bucks.

Great pastries, Good customer service, Very clean. I only wish they had greater pastry selection, and more milk tea flavors. Specially the very popular flavors such as honeydew melon and taro. Also a lot of the very few pastries available don’t have the correct signage so it’s hard to tell what they are. It’s a new spot so let’s just hope it gets better. I’ll change my review as they progress.

Strawberry Mochi! Not an actual mochi, its strawberry and very light not overly sweet & refreshing whipped cream, little bit of chiffon bread wrapped in mochi sheet. Come before 1 since they run out all the time! Hokkaido Chiffon Bread also makes a nice gift(you can get 6 in a box) Also very light, not overly sweet! I repeat«not overly sweet & light» a lot since most of their bread can be heavy, oily and overly sweet. Loved the prompt & very attentive service!

Price and portion sizes are pretty generous compared to other bakeries in ktown. They have sweets, breads, and some pre-made sandwiches. The bread items here are average $ 1.50-$ 3.00, and they’re like the size of your hand or bigger, lol. I only tried the Danish w/cream cheese and the hot dog cheese bun so far, but both are really good! They also have dessert/cake items that look tasty as well. Drinks are mostly tea/boba flavors, but they have coffee too(over $ 3.50 at least though). It’s also similar in layout to the other JJ bakeries. Only thing is that they seem to close early, and parking may be limited to the street(&/or possibly the Wilshire/Vermont parking garage too). They probably have wifi, and it seems more like a place to chat/hangout than to study. Overall, stop by and check it out!

I’m not really sure. I came about an hour and a half before closing and there was barely anything out. And by the looks of things it seemed like it would be another 85 degree but it isn’t. For whichever items were out none of them looked appealing or worth tasting. However, I did come for the strawberry mochi but it was sold out so I got the mango mochi($ 3.50) instead. I liked the texture of the outer mochi layer with the fluffy cake layering inside but the mango filling was a bit overpowering for my taste. It was too fragrant and slowly started tasting like perfume. I’d like to come back to give it another try next time! For the strawberry mochi. Not the mango. Location: on Wilshire between Shatto and Vermont. Next to Yogurt Land and Subway.

Made fresh and delicious! I was driving home along Wilshire and noticed this bakery when I was at a stop light. It was such a pleasant surprise to see the variety of baked goods they have and taro being one of them(I love taro!). The best part is they’re all made fresh and so yummy!

It’s fresh and new and I’ve only had the mango mousse, which was good, but not amazing. I like that they have a very open space for customers to walk around in. Product is well organized and they have a great variety of buns, pastries and cakes. I like that they indicate what time they put in the curry meat pies and what time they will take it out if they are unsold. They charge sales tax to those who want to consume their baked good in-store. What a way to keep people out…

This bakery is a franchise located in the Wilshire/Vermont plaza. The breads and pastries are simple and tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Still solid though. This place would be ideal for those who work in the area and would like to grab a quick breakfast pickup with a cup of coffee or tea. They have everything from croissants to sandwiches to decorated cakes as well as a large drink selection menu.

What a great surprise! My partner and I were heading to the Subway station at Vermont and Wilshire but detoured over this new spot. It literally just opened today. I have been curious about this spot for sometime because the sign has been up for awhile but it was finally unveiled today. This is a great addition to the store along this busy and hustle and bustle area of Ktown. The savory sweets and beverages are great alternatives to the standard spots in all gentrified areas of LA. It is a compliment because we need this. It is familiar to others and new to what they only know. Starbucks and Coffeebean can relax because this bakery is really all about enjoying what they serve every visitor. You are not to sit here all day with your iPad, laptop and everything else. The baked goods and beverages are reminiscent of what I’ve had in SGV and other spots in Ktown. It’s great and I have a good feeling that this will do well. My only advice to the JJ Bakery is to keep track of the flow of customers and maintain the order and cleanliness. It is understandable that it might falter but please do your best to maintain it. I will certainly support this business and I am sure plenty of people will too. You are the icing on the cake on this area of Wilshire and Vermont!
