James Smog Test Only

Complete rip off place, do not recommend anyone to go there, under any circumstances. Probably one the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The guy was Very rude, and found it funny that I was upset.

Smogged here twice. Once about 4 years ago with a 1988 SAAB that passed by 2 points on the first try and just today in a newer Prius. The place isn’t much to look at but they’re quick and efficient. Both times I only had to wait about 3 minutes before being helped and the smog itself is quick too. In and out in about 15 minutes!

He was nice, quick and inexpensive. No fuss no muss.

I’m not entirely sure about this James character. While I think he’s going through the motions like a professional smog tester should, it’s extremely hard to communicate with him if your car does pass with flying colors. Mine didn’t and so I was told to pay the $ 45ish dollars now (when there’s a sign that clearly says if you don’t pass it’s free) and to come back after driving 100 miles (apparently the car’s computer system resets itself at that point) and he’ll test it again. And let me tell you that it was about a 15 minute guessing game of what he was saying before I was able to get to that conclusion. I’m not sure what happens if I don’t pass again, as I’m pretty sure James isn’t in the business of giving refunds.
Also of note, somehow he upset my radio so now I need a code to reset it, which when I went back to tell him I was now driving in silence, he stared at me blankly and told me come back after 100 miles. As a result I am now sentenced to solemn quietness on the roads for the next couple of days.
Don’t go to James unless you know you can pass your smog test, but even then, prob just go somewhere else.
He’ll get another star if this whole 100 mile situation works out.

I didn’t like this guy at all. I thought he was rude and he was way over priced. He charged me 51.00 and told me if I brought the car back to be checked he would charge me another 20.00. I found another guy on Formosa by the DMV for 31.75. WHat a rip off! DOn’t waste your time.

James doesn’t say much but he gets the job done. In and out in less than 20. $ 60 for a test.
