I love this place. I never grew up eating sandwiches but this place is definately making me a fan. I ordered Cold fried chicken sandwich — a must get — ranch cheese, gindo’s spice of life, lettuce, pickles the spanish godfather — ham, tomato, chorizo, manchego, tapenade, mayo cheese brie, swiss cheese, mostarda, arugula, mayo The only complain is that the sandwiches are lady sizes but I would just order two or 3. They keep well for later. Staff is friendly Location is small so take out it is Food is really good and fresh

Came here at recommendation of LA Bucket List Sandwiches(Courtesy of ) and trying to hit all on the list. One of the things that attracted me to this list is that sandwiches are a universal comfort food. We all have a favorite, a «go to» sandwich, or one that sticks in our memories like classic grilled cheese and soup mom made for us on a cold, rainy day. We’ve all had the good, the bad and the ugly of sandwiches so the idea of a list of sandwiches that were«bucket list worthy» seemed like a great place to start. Maybe I’m setting the bar too high, but I seem to be gravitating to the middle on most of these reviews, and my latest stop at Ink. sack placed me again squarely in the«Tasty-Zone». Ink.sack is a tiny little sandwich spot opened by sort-of celebrity chef Michael Voltaggio on Melrose(so know that parking sucks). You can read about how wonderful he is on their website, but I have to think he would go all Gordon Ramsey on his staff for their lackluster execution of the Tortilla Espanola sandwich. Tortilla Espanola — carmelized onion, piquillo peppers, chips, egg, manchego(cheese), mayo. The good-the bread was a standout. Fresh, crispy– crusted, pillowy-interior deliciousness. Nicely done! The bad — ok, so it was only a $ 6 dollar sandwich but wow on the lack of content. Just nothing to it. The ugly — I’m sure when the chef designed this sandwich, this sloppy, haphazard slapping together was not what he had in mind. Despite the poor execution, the overall taste was good. The roll grabs you and you hope the rest of the ingredients live up to the promise of greatness the roll leads you to believe is coming, but then falls short. I split this sandwich and their take on a bahn mi which I thought was the better of the 2 sandwiches. Overall, I’d go again but try something else purely on the quality of the roll. Am I gonna crave the Tortilla Espanola until I have another? Naw.

Michael Voltaggio has done it again… Hit the ball out of the park. Right around the block from the INK restaurant(which I love), is ink.sack. A simpler concept. A walk up counter with a menu board behind it. Keep it easy. I had a perfect Cubano sandwich. The portions are not huge. I usually like my sandwich bursting with fillings, but at ink. sack they are a little more compact and not over whelming. You could easily eat two. At about $ 6 bucks a pop you can afford to get a couple if you’re really hungry. Besides the Cubano we also got a Turkey & Brie and the crab chips. A yummy midday meal. Can’t wait to come back for another Cubano! Side note: they sell autographed books here signed by both Voltaggio brothers but they were out of them when I was there, they even checked at INK for me but no luck…(Cue tears)

Good little spot. Not as great as the hyperbole might lead you to believe, but good. The cold fried chicken sandwich is delicious, but again I did expect something more out of it given the rapturous reviews it’s received. The Spanish Godfather was a bit more to my liking, all of the ingredients mixed together really well. Was also pleasantly surprised to walk in at 3pm on a weekday and there was no line!

Initially, I was a little disappointed by how small the sandwiches actually were, but as much as I hate to admit it, I think it was a perfect amount of food for lunch. Things I ate: Gravlax — I can’t think of another word to describe this lox type sandwich besides ‘fresh’. It tasted very clean. I highly recommend this sandwich. Salt and pepper chips — homemade chips that aren’t super greasy or flimsy. The service was great. super friendly. There’s isn’t too much seating available, which is a bummer because this place can draw a crowd. Parking is challenging.

This place is bombbb. The banh mi here is something else entirely. Whenever I’m in WeHo, I will make any excuse to come here and grab at least 2 sandwiches. Having tried ALL of them, the banh mi is my favorite. It’s not an authentic banh mi per se, but that’s not really the point of ink sack. The pork rinds and pickled veggies on that divine bread are what my tongue dreams of at night. It’s a little pricey for the portion size but worth it IMO. If traffic wasn’t so bad getting to WeHo, I would come here all the time. I usually call in my order(takes ~15 minutes) so that I don’t have to wait when I get there as the line can often be long. I’ve usually been lucky enough to snag street parking whenever I come here, and there are also meters available. I’ve also tried the crab chips which I thought were just average chips, but that chocolate chip cookie is rich, sweet, and thick. Perfect if you are in the mood for the type of cookie that will drown you, just be forewarned, it’s not a light dessert. But the banh mi? I’m in the mood 24/7, baby.

Had this place bookmarked forever and finally got a chance to go while walking back to my boyfriends place from the gym. Seating is very limited but turnover is fast. We shared the: Cold fried chicken– i’m not a huge fan of fried chicken but I like to order whatever is most popular when I go to a restaurant for the first time. If I were to like a fried chicken sandwich this would probably be it. My boyfriend on the other hand loved this sandwich. Cold fried anything is hard to pull off but the chicken maintained its crispiness. jose andres– love the spanish interpretation of a godmother. i love how flavorful chorizo is and that combined with the creamyness of the manchego made an excellent sandwich that I would order again in a heartbeat. bahn mi– my personal favorite of the ones i’ve tried. It tasted nothing like a traditional bahn mi but the combination of the onion spread, pickled veggies, and pork shoulder worked perfectly.

Voltaggio! Street parking. Limited seating. Dog friendly seating outside. They have dog treats for the puppies. Sandwiches are 4 – 5 inches. 3 sandwiches was way to much for me and the wifey. Cold Fried Chicken — $ 5 — Chicken was good. Reminds me of those night when you grab cold fried chicken and make a sandwich with whats in the fridge. Banh Mi — $ 6 — Pork was cooked nicely. Bacon and chicharrones were a nice addition. But for $ 6 I could get 3 full size banh mi in 626. Jose Andres — $ 6 — Was not feeling it. I ate Bay Cities for breakfast and this was no where close to tasting as good. Overall, decent but overpriced sandwiches. Worth a try.

I’d give this palace about 3.5 stars. I might have had too much hype with this place bc of Michael voltaggio’s reputation. Not that the place is bad, but it’s not great. The sandwiches are unique but the taste of the ones I ordered weren’t to my expectation. I had the banh mi, cold fried chicken, spicy tuna, and cuban. Out of these, I enjoyed the Cuban the best. I’d give it a 4.5, while I’d give the banh mi a 4, and the others 3. However the three cold sandwiches are apparently the most popular.
