So I’ll start with the bad and end with the good. I give them 4 stars because of the few people that mess up this park. Those people that leave trash behind although there are trash cans everywhere. Also, those people that are smoking weed while there are children playing and running around. Some people really don’t seem to care. As I walked inside the park I took a huge breathe of the marijuana scented air. Thinking I was going to breathe in fresh air I probably inhaled most of the smoke. I have nothing against people that smoke weed, but I feel they should just try to stay away where there are children present. I kept walking towards the soccer field and the smell started to go away. Besides some people smoking pot and a few others that leave some trash behind, this is a nice park. There are a lot of trees that are great for some shade. There is a lot of grass if you want to have a picnic. They also have tables with benches near the play area, near the soccer field and near the basketball field. I noticed that the ones with shade are near the soccer field. There is also a giant tree in the kid’s play area where you can take a seat. This is a great park to come with your family, watch a game, run around the track, play basketball/soccer, or even get some exercise done. They have several exercising machines. There are a few that I didn’t know what they where for, but it was fun to try them out. There was one where you can lay down and do some sit ups. Another for your arms and shoulders where you have to left your on weight. A funny one where you swing yourself side to side. At least I assume that’s what you are suppose to do. Another that looks like you are skiing and I noticed people use that one the most. The last one was a little weird too. You sit down and push these two handles towards yourself. I think they also work with your own weight. All of these machines are around the running track/soccer field. The soccer field is the only part of the park that is dried up. It use to be brown grass, but I noticed it’s more like dirt now. I love that this park has so many activities for the community as well. The park has a small building where they give all types of classes/lessons. I saw they had karate, jazz, ballet, and tutoring. They also have some soccer classes for kids. This is a great park to get so much done. You can bring your kids for one of the activities and get a work out done in the meanwhile. Oh, there is no parking lot, but there is street parking all around.

Hoover is a recreational park in Los Angeles on the corner of Adams and Hoover. It is within the USC campus. The park consists of 1 full basketball court, half basketball court, a track, soccer field, and a playground for kids. All throughout the park there is tables and grills. The park itself is really beautiful and it is filled with multiple trees that are stories high. The trees provide much needed shade during those hot summer days. It is kept clean by all the staff that works there. I have never seen it to be a dirty park. The only thing that isn’t aesthetically pleasing is the soccer field. Since it is so large in size, it is had for them to water it. Plus the drought we are in affects the usage of water as well. Therefore the color of the grass is brown. Apart from that the park is really well kept and gorgeous. With all the trees, flowers, and grass around you get a sense of nature. If you close your eyes and take everything in, you will smell fresh air. Something which is hard to find living in Los Angeles. You can smell the semi watered grass along with the pinecones which have fallen from the trees. In the hot summer days you can smell the concrete of the basketball courts. Everything has a nice smell to it. Except the bathroom. Stay away from those at all cost. This Saturday I went and you were able to notice and feel the change in temperature and air depending on where you were at the park. As I was roaming around the park I noticed that the best place to catch a nice breeze even in hot days is under the trees. if you stay inside the shadow of the trees your good. If you don’t, you are going to feel extreme heat. If you like playing basketball this is your park as well. It gets real noisy once games start to get going. You hear everything from greetings to trash talk. It is really fun to be part of the trash talk or to hear it. Since Hoover Park is located in two rather busy intersection, you will hear lots of traffic while you are there. You will also hear lots of construction since USC seems to be extending its campus. The university is constantly building new buildings. As mentioned since there is a lot on construction going on near the park. I would suggest to be aware that some of the dust or smoke may carry to the park. Just this past Saturday that I went I had to turn my back because of all the dust/dirt that came. Unfortunately I was too late and I had the taste of dirt in my mouth. Since the bathroom and other things aren’t so good, I take away one star from my rating. I still think Hoover is an good and safe place for people of any age.
