Diners I dare you to come here… I’m finally functional enough to peel myself off the bathroom floor to physically type about the pain and suffering I endured after having a meal at deck33. I don’t want to say because you have a Groupon it’s a situation of «ya get what ya paid for» because I’ve had amazing meals and other services through Groupon. This scarring dinner will hold me back from purchasing food related ones for awhile. My bf and I both got steaks after attempting to masticate some freezer bought calamari. There was no Caesar option nor any sort of vegetable available for the evening. I’m reading posts from the last two days and I see other customers and guests are describing the same thing. This food, if you want to call it that, had me ill and crying for my mama from 5am onward. Don’t wreck your weekend or insides by going here. Liquor and wine selection is incredibly limited also as we tried to order off the Groupon which came with 2 buck Chuck… I mean at least a Mark West, 14 hands or some sort of Bogle! It’s such a shame because the ambiance is rather lovely. The star is for Allie because she was incredibly personable and sweet. Allie don’t eat the food please, I beg you!

Live Unilocaling now: Husband bought a Groupon for a night out. I was pretty stoked, I know this hotel, small boutiquey and cool. Place was empty, that’s cool. Out of steak and caesar bummer but ok. Other things to get. Bottle of wine? Cool! Charles Shaw? Not so cool. Got two main courses that were ok. Kind of like what I make with Blue Apron. App of fried calamari was good. Service was bad, probably not her fault, she was server, hostess and bartender. Time for dessert and we were brought two cookies from the 24 pack they sell at Ralph’s and told they were homemade and that was our dessert. So to break it down: one $ 3 bottle of wine, two $ 10(at best) entrees and .50 of cookies for $ 42 with a $ 109 value. More like we paid $ 42 for a $ 23.50 dinner. We tried to get the check so we could get real dessert but our server ignored us per usual. Groupon you will be hearing from me. The two stars were for the calamari and the décor.

This was the most horrible experience ever. I ordered the steak dinner which included mash potatoes with grilled asparagus well I got the steak without the veggies which I was told they ran out of! Well they were just going to ignore this fact until I asked for green which I was offered a salad that I had to share with my date. The Mojito that I ordered was missing the sugar which the server admitted she forgot. I absolutely do not recommended this place they couldn’t even provide coffee with my dessert!!!

I hate to do this. I really try to give good reviews and this is officially my first bad review. I was there on Monday evening because a friend had a layover at lax. I looked on Unilocal and wasn’t too stoked on going, but it was convenient and figured it was worth a try because another friend chose. The food was quite gross. Considering la has so many amazing happy hour spots, I was bummed that the food was worse than frozen store bought. Calamari, sliders and potato skins that I never want to eat again. Lacked flavor and quality seemed sub par. The worst part was the Charles shaw $ 3 bottle of Shiraz that they charged us 34 dollars for!!! I mean I understand you only have 3 types of wine, but really, what a joke. I could see like maybe 20 – 25, but that was pathetic. At least get an entry level wine if you are going to charge that much. That is 2 buck chuck. The waitress was nice, but for us being the only table I would have thought she would have checked in a little more, especially after the food came because I would have like some ranch. She was talking so I couldn’t get her attention so just gave up and ate the slider that was lacking all around. The worse part was at the end. We were trying to get out of there and gave her a 100 $ bill. She said she needed to get change; little did we know she was going to be gone for 10 to 15 minutes because she had to go to the Ralph’s to get it. Her gesture was beyond kind and I thank you for going to get it!!! But had we known you had to do that we would have been more than happy to just give card. Like I said, it was so sweet to do, but maybe let us know you won’t be back for a while and give the option of paying another way before leaving for at least 10 min. Sorry to do this, but I wouldn’t want to go back. Hope this helps maybe change some things

The bartenders were friendly and mixed up tasty drinks for me and my bf for our night cap. I’d visit the bar with or without the hotel stay we had anytime. cool vibe .was a but empty but it was a cold monday night too.

Overall, this was a great place to have a private hosted event. The bar overlooks the pool and cabana below. This is part of the Custom Hotel next door. Parking: Valet or on the street behind the closed bowling alley. Drinks: I really liked their sangria. Sweet but no overly too sweet. Rating: 4 out of 5. It was nice to treated to a private event with hosted food and drink. Enjoyed a great time — your quintessential CA Sunday fun day — Sun — check Drinks — check Food — check Pool view — check I stayed after the party enjoying my drink. Sat in front of the fire pit enjoying the CA sunset. Overall, super chill place for a drink.

So this was the only bar in the Custom Hotel when we stayed here last weekend. Small food menu and no menu for drinks at all, not a fan. The fun thing about going out for drinks is seeing what they offer, what they have come up with, here that is nothing. That already put a damper on things, also not much here in terms of atmosphere. It overlooks the tiny pool, has a few tables and barstools, not much else. The bartender was super nice, I went with a Long Island Ice Tea $ 12, made well, I did enjoy it. Not even worth staying for a second drink as not much was going on, not worth it if you are not staying in the hotel.

This restaurant was a Saturday night mistake, though the bartender/waitress was nice. Unfortunately they overcooked the pork chop and Mahi Mahi dishes so bad they were almost inedible, and the Mahi Mahi dish didn’t even arrive until everyone else was almost done with dinner. The food quality and chef skills were really bad.

Ugh. For over a year, I’ve wanted to check out this spot in my neighborhood because it seemed to me that it has a great boutique hotel vibe. I read the reviews here on Unilocal and was encouraged. I thought it would at least be decent. Um NO. It takes a lot for me to complain. Especially publicly. Absolutely horrible food. –If it arrives in time for you to eat it before the rest of your party is ready to leave.(And I reminded the staff 2x that one more dish was due to arrive. It didn’t help.) When the fish arrived it was so overcooked I couldn’t cut thru it. So we complained. Not much more than a response shrug with a «check back with us in 3 months — we have a new manager coming that will hopefully make the needed changes.» Fingers crossed for April 2015. I’d like a reliable, edible, even enjoyable non-chain restaurant to go have a sexy/chill dinner with my husband and friends.

Money payoff bad reviews. The hosting company decided that my post was«innapropiate»… eitheway, i refuse to have my comment remove. New CHEAP ownership has made this launge go from ok. tooo… WTF?! they hardly stock on drinks and increase prices on many many items! The bartenders are good people, but the unqualify manager is a bit to extreme.

Nice place to hang out and enjoy the evening weather in LA. Food is a little on the high side. Top is 18.5% added to your check so be careful on what you order. Other than that a nice approach to outside dining and drinking.

I was staying overnight at the Custom hotel and they didn’t have room service, but I decided to order from their Deck 33(across the driveway) and was so glad I did. I’d TOTALLY return just to hang out by the pool with all their various seating options and chaises, cabanas, cushions, and the bar. This is a slice of LA that is worth re-visiting — with friends. Like when you are from somewhere else and try to picture Los Angelenos lounging by a beautiful pool with interesting architecture, this is what you envision. Only problem is, it’s not open all the time so when I did try to return with a friend, they weren’t open. I couldn’t decide between the Kobe burger — delicious and the calamari — awesome! So I got both. The dipping sauce is a new favorite. I will definitely try again for the happy hour though! Wanna meet me there?

The service at this hotel is amazing! Not only is the food good, but the rapport with the staff is impeccable. You have to go here and try every dish because if you don’t, you might miss out on expanding your palate.

Service was fine. Took two tries to get a decent drink. The food? MEH, totally. Based on the demographic in attendance, seems to be Frat-Boy/Frat-Girl, which could explain the generally poor food experience. The low-slung seats overlooking the pool are cool, if that and the alcohol are all you care about. General vibe is a PARTY bar in a PARTY hotel, catering to college kids. Not my style, but might be yours!

I won’t take stars away for the wind, but it did make me leave quickly. I ordered the linguine with seafood, which my hotel menu stated it was black linguine but it was served as good old linguine. First ding was that there were unexpected red and green peppers(personal hatred for these and annoyed at the inclusion when not listed on the menu). The only thing semi fresh were the mushrooms. The lobster was grainy and the sauce so salty I struggled through. Wait staff lacking, I didn’t even have the opportunity to get a water. The $ 5 rail drink got one of the two stars. The other star was for the nice view of the airport.

This is an outside lounge on the deck of the Custom Hotel. The lounge overlooks the hotel pool, is covered, and has a few couches and some tables for seating. The décor is pretty basic but they do have fire pits on each end of the deck and that gives this place a classy feel. It reminds me of the top deck at Rush Street(if you’re familiar with that place) but is more spacious. I came here on a Thursday night around closing time and the place was pretty empty. There were about 12 people and the music was suckie. The drinks were REALLY strong and tasty so the place definitely has potential. I think I will go back to try this place on a Friday/Saturday night because there might be a larger crowd and better music on those days. I do think this would be a great place to host a party; It is free to get in and the space is big enough to entertain a large group of friends on a nice, warm summer night :) **They have good chips n salsa!

Deck 33 is located in an outdoor covered patio overlooking a medium sized pool and cabanas. I was here for dinner in the dining area on a Wednesday night, and the bar was completely full. Customer service was good, though our server seemed spread thin. They have a full bar, and great beverages to choose from. I’m okay with loud but the sound really carries more tremendously from the bar area. They have attempted to create barriers with screens, but a few bar patrons came through the dining area with cigarettes to stand out closer to the edge of the balcony. Interestingly enough a family next to us sneaked in a joint. The food itself was okay. The calamari seemed a bit oily, but the sauce was good, hot & spicy. My friends dish was mahi mahi with gnocchi, and the fish was definitely dry and gnocchi was ok — and I love gnocchi. I was craving spaghetti, and they happened to have spaghetti with marina sauce and meatballs… definitely the star of the night. Deck 33 is great for happy hour and bar scene. I probably won’t grab a full dinner here again.
