This is my favorite secret stair walk to date based on Charles Fleming’s book called«Secret Stairs». I don’t know about you, but when I hike or walk I love to have some kind of view. It could be the mountains, landmarks or some kind of body of water. This walk has all three, so I was pretty darn ecstatic. The thing that tipped the whole experience over the scales for me is the fact that there is a plethora or great places to go grab a bite afterward. The only downside was I probably ended up consuming more calories than I just burned off. Oh well. If you want to go on this beautiful little walk you can either pick up a copy of the book called«Secret Stairs» or download the ap and it’s about $ 1.99. The only downside to the ap is the fact that there are only about five walks on there and the book has 42. Park on the east side of the intersection of Silver Lake Boulevard and Glendale Boulevard. There is metered street parking up to 10 hours. We only needed about three. We made the mistake of crossing over to the side of Silver Lake Boulevard closest to the lake, but those views made jay walking across Silver Lake Boulevard to get on Cove totally worth it. You’ll find your first set of stairs at the end of Cove St. and once you start climbing you need to turn yourself around a soak up that amazing view of the lake. Trust me when I say it’s as pretty as a painting. Then you’ll end up on a street called Edendale Place which is one of the steepest streets in L.A. and you have to walk up it. Be prepared and just thank your lucky stars you don’t have to walk back down this puppy. You and I both like our knees and we both like to be able to walk without pain. When you get to the top of this freakin’ steep street turn your body around and soak up some more view. You will see the Griffith Park Observatory and the Hollywood sign. You will wish you could enter one of the properties on the south side of the street to see if those lucky residents have a view of the ocean. I bet they do on a clear day. I don’t want to bore you with the rest of the details, but if you don’t want to buy the book or the ap, just send me a message and I’ll give you the rest of the directions and then copy and paste on here. I would seriously do this walk again, so if anyone wants to go let me know and maybe we can put a UYE together.
