These are the best hotdogs! I’m very skeptical if hotdogs in general but this truck is all organic and the guy who owns it is so friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend the regular bratwurst for meat eaters and as a vegan, the veggie dogs are wonderful! It’s also right in front of silverlake wine so that’s a plus

Delicious dogs and very friendly service! The dogs are flavorful and hearty but not overly salted or too greasy, which in my experience is common in many other popular dog venues. The grilled onions are fantastic and the«Devil’s Sauce» lends an Indian-influenced kick to your dog. They also park outside of Everson Royce in Pasadena every Friday from 5 – 10.

Delicious. I tried the«hot» dog, which was a spicy pork sausage, complete with the behind the counter trimmings — grilled onions, devil sauce and what appears to be a spicy mustard. Overall, I didn’t think it was that spicy, but it still tasted awesome. The lack of spice plus the fact that it’s a wee bit on the pricy side for a hot dog give it 4 stars instead of 5. Still worth a try, though.

Staff is super easy going, friendly and helpful. The food is great. They have a lot great toppings and not to mention some really cool drink choices. Not a lot of places where you can get a nice gourmet hot dog.

We weren’t sure if we wanted the catered hot dogs for lunch or go out to eat, and finally decided to stay and eat hot dogs from the truck. My company had Let’s Be Frank cater our luncheon which was nice of the company, but we’ve had better truck experiences. The line was average, it wasn’t crazy slow or quick, but just average. When I finally got the Frank dog, it was pretty average size with a few slivers of grilled onions. When we finally got to sit down to bite into it, it wasn’t great tasting. It had a great snap when you first bit into it, but the flavor of the hot dog was weird. Not very flavorful. Costco hot dog is better. However, the roll was actually pretty good. I liked the firmness of the bun compared to the usual room temp floppy bun. I don’t know how much the dogs cost retail, but it’s not worth it. My coworkers agree, this wasn’t one of our best lunches.

Let’s be frank here. While the dogs aren’t bad, they aren’t super special either. Plus you aren’t really going to get full on 1 hot dog. If you have had Wurstekuche or Link ‘N’ Hops then you know what a special sausage/dog tastes like and you don’t mind paying a higher price for it. Plus, those places are pubs with full beer bar and nice locations with interior seating. You know those establishments have a higher overhead costs, including more employees. Paying 7 – 8 dollars a dog is a given and you get great beers on tap. This is little more than a fancy mobile hot dog cart, and for almost $ 6 dollars a dog and needing to eat 2 of them to be full. It’s hard to justify paying $ 12 for lunch to eat 2 hot dogs. I’ve tried the Frank Dog, Brat Dog, and«Hot» Dog. They are pretty good hot dogs, but I would probably never go back.

Rarely eat hot dogs, but finally tried the Frank Dog, all beef, grass-fed, and the Bratwurst — a little spicy, and the kind that lingers long after you’ve devoured, requiring mouthwash and heavy duty breathmints. Caramelized onions, Devil Sauce, mustard, both were delicious, but both fell apart after a few bits which made eating rather messy. Luckily you can wash your hands inside Silverlake Wine Shop. Certainly gave the wine tasters at SLW food envy as I did my best to eat like Padma Lakshmi ate her Carl’s Jr. A few of them raced out to order their own dogs. Much preferred the all beef to the bratwurst. FYI, the guy before me loves their vegan dogs.

My goodness this is an expensive hot dog. But I was desperate, standing outside at a hipster show/sale and wanting more than a free snocone. I don’t know if it tasted good because it is organic or if I was just starving. If I’m not at a ballpark, I don’t want to spend so much.

Stumbled upon these guys at an event I was working … how can I say no to a hot dog truck! I ordered the«HOT» dog fully loaded. it’s a pork italian-style sausage, with grilled onions. I asked for a heavy spoonful of the«Devil» sauce, which is some sort of spicy, mango chutney-relish. I love love love their devil sauce. Though it’s more sweet than spicy, it still has a good kick. Overall, the dog was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way searching for them, but I’d be inclined to try some of their other dogs.

I can’t believe I waited 20 minutes for a hot dog. They are amazing, tasty grass fed beef hotdogs but the 20 min wait, no where to park(in Silverlake next to the Cha Cha) and dealing with the slow lady making the dogs and taking orders isn’t worth it to me. I’m also not a fan of dealing with nouveau riche aging hipsters and their pretentious conversations. On Thursday in front of Silverlake wine, you will have to deal with these people and if you aren’t one of them they will overlook you, cut in line and treat you like you don’t exist. Half of them are drunk on wine and stand around in crowds of 3 or 4 and completely ignore you if you are standing there alone in line. I have been cut in front of and shunted aside by groups of these drunk annoying people. When they get drunk you will have to wait in line behind them and listen to how they are all working on their scripts. Give me a break. I remember when Silverlake was all gay latino men and people who couldnt afford $ 5 hot dogs. Ah well… If I happen to drive by and see that there is no line, I may consider stopping by. I really enjoy their dogs. The guy that works there is way faster, true food truck style. The woman who was running the show tonight was really slow, confused, couldn’t remember who had what and was just all around kind of spacey. Her time management skills were terrible and for a line of 14 people you would hope that they would have at least 2 people working. Tasty but not worth the trouble.

The food: A+ I had the Frank Dog and it was fantastic. Loved the simplicity of it. People complain about lack of toppings but I understand where they are coming from. Listen folks, condiments usually are there to mask an unappealing hotdog/burger. I think the dog speaks for itself and is so good that one needs little to compliment it. I like the grilled onions with ketchup and mustard. Then I add a little of that chutney sauce for a few bites. Can’t wait to try the rest of the dogs. Another thing to note is Sue(I think that’s her name). What an amazing person. We had a real long conversation about her story(I used to live in Berkeley). I wish LA was more of a place where people talk to other people when involved in a transaction such as this. Instead we get A-holes like the guy behind me who gave me crap for asking questions. Some people don’t appreciate the quality of life I guess. Whatever, I kept on talking with Sue. Oh, last thing. I guess they’re here every Thursday in front of a wine tasting thing. Awesome.

I found the turkey-dog most unpalatable. The«devil sauce» uncomplimentary to the hot dog. And the bun incredibly mediocre. The staff(a woman named Susan) was delightful, but this was a crappy dog. Try papas place in Los Feliz for a decent sausage. Also, their beef dogs may be better– but couldn’t they have a better bun or more bread/wrapping choices? And how about a hot-sauce options thar isn’t so curry-coriander as their(to my mind) mediocre devil-sauce(and I’m a huge fan of all kinds of chutney)? Let’s be frank– I’m not a fan,

I got the classic frank dog with grilled onions & saurkraut and it was the tastiest hot dog ever! Don’t get me wrong i love me a good Costco dog every now & then but Let’s be frank dogs have no nitrates, hormones, or antibiotics, so guilt be gone! You can find them usually across from Father’s Office at Helm’s bakery. YUMMMMMM!

The truck hung around UCLA today so I gave it a try for lunch. I’m always excited to try anything new when I’m on campus. I got the«Hot» Dog since I love spicy foods and he added some devil sauce too. It’s not that it was bad at all. The bun was well toasted with crispy edged like at in n out, but the there just wasn’t much taste. It was only 5.50 which isn’t bad considering how much these trucks tend to cost. But the hot dog didn’t fill me up at all. Maybe double the grilled onions and increase the bun size a tad and it’ll be an acceptable size.

«Frank Dog», created by Sue Moore, «formerly the ‘meat forager’ for Chez Panisse and Larry Bain«longtime restaurant professional, member of the San Francisco Sustainable Food Systems team»(1), ain’t no NYC, «dirty water dog». This pup«is made from 100% grass-fed beef from local producers with no fillers, added hormones, antibiotics or junk.»(2) Although organic, my best data to date, has not established kosher status. Still delving, will keep you apprised. Do let me know if you’ve already found the answer. I could have eaten at least one er, make that two more of these«dogs gone good»(Let’s Be Frank served up half dogs at KCRW’s Global Street Food event) topped with homemade pickles, grilled onions and«Devil Sauce»!
When this woman bit dog, the research and much anticipated«snap» plus spice delivered; a guilty pleasure not to be indulged in too often! In perusing their website, I was pleased to find many, delicious Let’s Be Frank products(Devil Sauce specifically) can be purchased retail, online! Great recipes too!

These hot dogs were the main reason I would go to free Shakespeare in Barnsdall Park(where a Let’s Be Frank truck would be stationed). I mean, there was also Shakespeare. But if I got a bad seat, at least I had an awesome hot dog. Amazing, amazing kraut, perfect snap to the skin, lots of juicy kickassery.

You know what? These hot dogs are worth way more than the 3.5 star average that Unilocalers have currently given them. I love hot dogs. I especially love em when they are crispy and not just steamed. My wife and I have been to the truck a few times, and while I usually stick to the bratwurst, she’s tried the all beef and loved that too. What really puts this dog on top for me is not the grass fed yada-yada, but the wonderful, balanced flavor of the meat, plus the AMAZING Devil Sauce they put on top! The devil sauce is kind of a spicy but not too spicy curry based hot sauce, and it goes wonderfully with all of their dogs! The service has always been friendly, which, let’s face it, really can improve the taste of already good food, and even at 5 bucks a dog, i will drive across town to get it. P. S. trust me, I’m vietnamese, and I know about eating dogs: P

OK so, Let’s Be Frank!, just not a very good Hot Dog, environmentally friendly, grass fed yadda yadda yadda. I found The casing is tough, and I do like that snap when you bite into a Hot Dog, this was just too tough. I get the whole Organic, Farm Fresh, Support the Local Farmers thing and I think it’s great. You can taste the difference in the meat, it’s a cleaner taste, less fat, but damn this is a HOTDOG why waste such good meat for a hot dog?. I want my hot dog that I’ve come to know and love, you know the one made with all the scraps of meat, throw in a few pig snouts and houghs, along with some cow parts makes a great hot dog!, leave the gourmet crap for the sausage. I did like how the bun was toasted, and the fact they have grilled onions was nice but I guess another thing that turned me off to this hot dog is… it’s $ 5, to me that’s 5 good tacos somewhere else and I just think $ 5 for a Hot Dog is too much!
