CJ’s Cafe

Here’s my review for the diner diamond in the Baldwin Hills rough. I would like to let all the friendly folks at CJ’s know, that they hit a home-​run with our table this morning. Outta-​the-​park!
We just moved to the neighbourhood this week and wrre very fortunate to find this place so soon. I’m so happy we weren’t detered by the 3 ½ star Unilocal rating. This place deserves much more and here’s why…
The freshly squeezed juices are very good and at $ 4.50 they are excellent value! The French toast is very good. Chilaquiles are on point. The breakfast burrito is big and beautiful. You know its going to be good when it arrives to the table alone on a big white plate (no garnishes). They don’t mess around. It was so well crafted, it was still smoking hot after being on the table for 10 minutes!
The place was packed when we arrived and now we know why. Now it’s time for a little song:

This place was ok. Took a while before they came and took my order, but the food came out fast. Some of the waitresses did not speak English. The natural juices are pretty good.

If you’re looking for good food, laid-​back no frill atmosphere, and reasonable prices, this is a great neighborhood café! They give you big portions so come with an appetite. They make great homestyle breakfast especially the sausage eggs and pancakes. The staff is very friendly.

Good breakfast, better service. A few items you have to ask for (not on the menu) salmon croquettes. Clean location, good parking, great selection of fresh juice too.

This morning we have once again had breakfast at your CJ’s Café occasionally, It was wonderful.
The food (chicken sausage, eggs with grits) was well presented and tasty and the delicacy was exceptional. It was an usual visit in a seem-​to-​be-​different moment. It’s always like the first time.
Made my day extraordinary. A staff made several visits to our table making sure everything was as we wanted it. It certainly was and we will return next week and will order another sizzling food that you have :)

It’s near and easily accessible but honestly it’s a hit or miss. I appreciate the fresh juice option as that’s hard to come by in this area (unless I just use my own juicer). I’ll go for a quick lunch meetup and if I’m starving but if I have the time I’d venture further for better tasting food. I’d go again just for convenience.

The food is okay… the servers need training.

Not amazing food and not amazing service. Food is bland, lettuce and tomatoes not ripe at all. Costly for what it is. Just seems to be a lot of hype over juices that they make instead of the food and service. Won’t be returning.

I was craving breakfast and was too lazy to cook it. I decided to give this restaurant a try. I ordered (to go) the Chicken Sausage special which included two eggs, 3 chicken sausage and 1 side of waffle, French toast or pancakes. I chose French toast. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the eggs and chicken sausage.

Stopped by this hidden gem for breakfast. The food & presentation, nice for a café. The portions were more that significant for the price. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5^th star was that I didn’t get the WOW feeling from their service staff.

A bit hidden yet not too far off the main street great restaurant. Menu varies so there’s plenty to choose from. I got a breakfast item and it was great! We got sat really quick even for it being relatively busy. Plenty of smoothies and alternative healthy items to choose from too. Parking isn’t too crazy. Place is neat for the most part, if your looking for something different. Come try this place.

This is basically a good resturant for breakfast, but judging by the customers any time would be a good time for a meal. What kind of food do they serve? Good question. It appears to be a combination of both Spanish and soul, and they seem to be able to handle both well. They have two locations, one on s
LA brea and, one on pico, personally I prefer the one on la brea as it seems that both the service and food is better, more friendly. Personally I think that they have one of the best breakfast burritos in l.a., very tasty huge, and high quality for about six something. Not much more the mc donalds and certainly a lot better.

They are always amazing, Fresh squeezed juices to start with my favorite is Orange and Ginger combined –best medicine for the Cold symptoms — Huevos Rancheros with beans, pork chorizo, rice and of course extra tortillas on the side my every time to eat at this place and when i need my son to have breakfast with me, we go to the location on Pico since they have out sitting. Staff amazing so the service they provide.

I just ordered a turkey and avocado club. I was in a rush and left without checking my order– I got some kind of disgusing ham and processed cheese nastiness.
I’m really upset because I had a small window of time to grab something and now can’t eat until dinnertime.

There are few places that you can taste a great meal, this is a great place as well, fully recommended for those who have craving for the fried chicken wings. Amazing is the word that I choose for this place.
The customer service also was great, servers were polite and happy.

I stopped by today for lunch and the food was just mediocre — not good, but not terrible either. However, at this relatively inexpensive price, I wasn’t expecting much more. I wanted a quick, inexpensive, decent lunch, and that’s exactly what I got.
I had the chef salad. I wish they used real turkey instead of lunch-​meat turkey, but what can you do. There’s a good chance I’ll go back here again, maybe for breakfast, if I just want something quick and okay.

Unfortunately, I HAVE TO give it a star because theres no other option.
I found a hair in the food and when I spoke up I felt my opinion didn’t matter. If I hadn’t had my hungry three year I would’ve left in a heartbeat. The food is bland not to mention that disgusting hair. Will never go back and I suggest no one else does unless you have a taste for bland food or a hairy meal. Disgusting!
The service was just as bland too. The waitress carried herself as if she has no experience whatsoever. Overall, horrible experience.

Had breakfast on Friday, ⁹⁄₁₁. Service was slower than it’s been during previous visits. The restaurant is only half full. I see 5 waitresses including a woman who appears to be the manager. I ended up getting my own napkins when I needed more and I had to ask for more coffee because more wasn’t offered. Bad day?

Really great service… Love it! All food is freshly cooked. Waitress very polite… very attentive and my order is always perfect! No complaints what so ever. love love eating at this location. Definitely coming back thanks Andrea for such a great service!

Today my fellings were so hurt to have found a bug in my omlett, food was good in the past but they have to check and make sure food us healthy, bug free and secure before letting it coming out of the kitchen. I’m won’t be back. Why did the manager still expect us to pay for the bugged out meal; REALLY!!!

This place used to be good back in the day. But now, absolutely terrible. The lady at the front register is rude.
The turkey sausage is pink and gross inside. The eggs (why bother?) You can make a better breakfast at home and save your money. This place is cheap and gross. Yes it’s inexpensive but I think Denny’s is better! This place is over.
