I have been coming here with my boyfriend for a while; the food here is exceptional. If you ever come here make sure to get Cemita de Milanesa(number one on their menu selections). It’s like a sandwich which has beef meat, avocado, string cheese, chipotle, etc. It is really delicious and fulfilling! The second best thing to order is called super taco de res(super beef taco). Another thing you can try is called quesadilla de huitlacoche; it’s an acquired taste. It has tortilla has cheese with corn fungi(he likes this plate btw maybe you will too). This place is a must to stop by to eat when you are around east Los Angeles. It has very good authentic Mexican food. All the workers here mostly speak Spanish. Most occasions some people come inside the restaurant to sing lol and also to sell snacks and DVDs. Also, another thing to mention is that the waitering is not great and the parking is kind of small. But there is a lot of street parking. People sell flowers around there as well!

Order a cemita of cabeza and it was not good. They put more fat than meat. Did not like it had to take the pieces of meat with the fat and just ate the bread with avocado. Disappointed will not be going back there

Coming to Boyle Heights bring me good old memories since I was young and also the great Mexican food from different parts of Mexico. One of our favorite restaurant called the Cemitas Poblanas by Indiana St and the indiana off ramp by the 60 freeway. My wife and I came for a good and cheap meal but also really good and delicious sandwiches from the state of Puebla, Mexico. We were looking at the menu what we like to get and finally we order, my wife order the the bicsteak cemitas and myself I order the carnitas cemitas and for drinks, she got the horchata and myself a Mexician Coca-Cola the liter size and plus two orders of memelitas they are like a Salvadorian pupusa very thin with black bean and with salsa Mexican cheese on top. My wife enjoy her bite cemitas, she love the flavors in the cemitas… My carnitas cemitas was good but I felt my carnitas was overcook and little bit greasy but it didn’t effect the whole flavor of cemitas including the chipotle sauce that so good and spicy and cheese they was Oaxacan cheese it’s like Mozzarella cheese plus with avocado add it together amazing flavors in the bread it have a light sweet taste that I like. One the like from Mexico are the Mexican soda including The Mexican Coca-Cola and Fanta and other drinks have seen for a long time and news one I never tasted. Overall we enjoy eating at the Cemitas Poblanas. If you never try one go ahead and try one it’s delicious. Couple of minutes

I was starving! Got off the fwy thinking I was down the street from my favorite cemita place. My carrier signal was pretty bad so I couldn’t find the reviews on Unilocal.I got off asked a lady selling flowers if the food was good. Her response was it’s ok and laughed. hahaha I almost walked back to my car until I said to myself how bad can they be? Piece of bread and meat no big deal. Ordered the basic cemita and asked for both sauces. Red and green. My god! The salsa is delicious. The bread feels kinda old but it wasn’t as bad. Although without the sauce these tortas ain’t shhhhh. just saying! Salsa gets them 4 stars just to be clear. I’m a salsa person what can I say.

Has a wacky face everytime she brings out the food. Besides that we come every few weeks for the cemitas and the picaditas!

Decided to try it even after the reviews were pretty bad but came outta here disappointed the bread was hard… The food was flavor less… so then I thought the only thing that could solve the bad and extremely DRY cemita was some salsa and once again I was disappointed The salsa was gross… never again smh

I discover this place a few years back with the help of one of my cousins, since then it has become the place where our family goes for cemitas. I’m from the city of Atlixco; it’s located about thirty minutes south of the city of Puebla and whenever I’m craving good authentic cuisine from Puebla this is the place I come, the other alternative to going here would have been to get on a plane and go to a mercado in puebla. I have try many cemitas around LA and been disappointed. There was a time where I did found a good cemita in Huntington Park, but first it move to Korea town and then it close leaving this place as the only good place to get my cemitas fix. In reference to the other food what they offer is good if not great and some day’s are better than others, an example would be when I bought a 1 Tamal de mole and 2 de rajas con queso on this particular day they were amazing, they were soft and warm with great flavor. I took 3 to go for breakfast the next day; after two weeks I came back to eat a cemita with quesillo and queso de puerco I order a Tamal de rajas again and 1 of salsa verde well they came out lukewarm and not as soft as the first time the Tamal de rajas had another kind of cheese inside that was not what had been before and made my Tamal too salty, so you see consistency is to blame and I understand that sometimes it’s hard to be accurate when you cook without measuring like I think they do. I would recommend this place to anyone who want’s a real taste of Puebla or at least a bit of real Mexican food not that«Mexican Food» such as Taco Bell or El Torito, They now have a second location right on 4th St. with more room than the first one in Indiana St. I hope you do give it a try, a word of advice give everything a second chance if it fails at least you try.

Just had a cemita de Carnitas. Unfortunately and maybe it was just me it wasn’t that great I just figured I’d let everyone know. I am a fair guy and I love food but it just wasn’t that good.

The cemitas are decent enough to return to this restaurant. You must try the quesadilla de flor de calabasa, it’s delicious! Nothing will ever be identical to homemade food but it’s pretty close. My only complaint about this place is one of the female servers is very rude. She may be underpaid and underworked but it’s not the customers’ fault. She doesn’t have to plaster a smile on her face but she at least needs to be professional. She almost knocked my mother off!

First timer this past Friday. I had seen pictures of cemitas but never had one I thought it was a weird torta looking thing. The bread is completely from your traditional torta it had baked sesame seeds on top. I liked the fact that the bread was very toasty. I bought the quesillo cemita with the chipotle sauce which was a bit spicy, the shredded stringy cheese(quesillo), avocado, arugula, I think that was it. I also ordered the flor de calabaza(pumpkin flower) quesadilla with green sauce. I like the fact that they use masa to make the tortilla which gives it a different consistency then the typical tortilla de harina(flour tortilla). Yes I know I can eat I’m not ashamed they were both really good I just wished the quesadilla was a bit more crunchy. Now for the service that’s a different story. I hate the fact that they stare at my roommate because she is Korean. Let’s get this straight people she is more Mexican then I am in the sense that she enjoys the food and spicyness and yes she speaks and understands Spanish so the shit talking you do she understands all of it. Two different orders were sent out before ours which I thought was a bit rude since we placed our order first. The two orders that came out were not single items they were large orders so it’s not like they could use that excuse. Luckily we did to go and didn’t stay there. People staring was so uncomfortable. Two other good things is that they close late and they take debit which is one thing I don’t enjoy from local places that they seem to be cash only. Would I come back? Yes for the food but I would call in my order and just pick it up.

It took almost 30 minutes to make a cemita de milanesa. When I got it the meat was cold it was not well prepared and it was sad because they took so long just to make a not well prepared cemita.

Came here to try the cemitas… I shouldve known better and gone to my usual place down the street. Service was fast, but the food lacked flavor. The bread was dry and tasteless. $ 20 for two people is way to expensive for what we got.

This place is so awesome. The cemitas are always warm and delicious. They offer a wide range of different Mexican foods such as quesadillas, tacos, and even tamales. Being a vegetarian, I always order the queso con quesillo, but I know my family enjoys the cueritos the most. The great selection of Mexican drinks also makes this place great, and the desert, delicious! The one complaint I have about this establishment is the waiting time. I’ve stated before, patience is a virtue, one I do not possess when it comes to food. The food is so good however, that I am willing to sacrifice my time and stomach rumbles for a delicious cemita.

I’ve never tried Cemitas Poblanas before so my fiancée and I decided to give it a try. I tried the Asada Cemita. The meat was really good as well as the jalapeños that they give you. However the bread was really tough and hard to eat… this is probably the style of the bread and how its supposed to be but I personally like tortas better. I’ve lived closed by this restaurant for years but never visited until now. If you are in the neighborhood you might want to give it a try… they have lots of different kinds of meats to choose from as well as other items other than cemitas.
