Beryl Hattori, Ph D

Beryl is the sixth therapist I’ve seen in my life and is definitely the best so far. I established care when I was pregnant and have been seeing her regularly since then to help manage my depression. I feel like her suggestions are actually helpful and I’m able to implement them and see the changes in my life. The other helpful thing is that she does video chat so I don’t have to leave the house to have a session and can stay home with my son. I hate driving and dislike talking on the phone, so this is a major bonus for me and something I had trouble finding previously.

I had 2 meetings with Dr. Beryl. The first I laid out why I felt I needed to talk with someone, including my low self esteem and worries that this would impact my relationship with the daughter I am 8 months pregnant with. The next she was 10 minutes late and talked about everything but what I went over in the first appointment, then ended with her thought I did not need to see her weekly. I had to remind her of the previos appointment and why I was there. We had another appointment scheduled but my father passed away a few days before it so I had to cancel. I asked to reschedule which she did. I had not returned to the area before the appointment date and was in meetings with lawyers, mortuaries and the like all week. When I realized it was the day of the appointment I cancelled as I was not available. Dr. Beryl chose this time to inform me of my obligations to pay her for the missed meeting. Being 8 months pregnant and mourning my fathers passing, it just seemed insensitive and inappropriate. These actions clearly indicate to me that this woman is in it for the money and not for the well being of her patients.
