I ordered delivery from Fan’s, and it was not bad. The menu has good vegetarian options. My sesame tofu was cooked a bit unevenly but had a very nice flavor overall; I will order it again. The vegetable lo mein was decent. My family reported that the sweet and sour chicken was also good, but the lemon chicken and orange beef were less impressive.

Well… For the most part, I’d say; «no». Go to Ajuua, next door for a much better experience and ambiance. Asking questions about the menu was not easy. Menu almost seems way too big… there is a language barrier too. Had 2 dishes and egg rolls: Buddha’s Delight — Very bland, actually had a fishy taste too it. Not sure if that is intended. Asked for hoisin sauce for it, they didn’t know what it was. Though, gave me something similar, made it infinitely better. Actually, had flavor then, but was cold by then. I’ve had a Buddha’s delight before at May Wah’s in Boulder(It’s amazing there, by the way.) Vegetarian Sweet and Sour Chicken — OK, these veggie chicken nuggets were actually REALLY good. Best part of the meal, by far. The S&S sauce was good on them too. Rice was shared between both dishes and didn’t seem like much was there. Maybe could’ve gotten more, but were never offered. Egg rolls came out late, almost like they had forgotten. Very full of black pepper too. Wasn’t really a fan and didn’t finish. And, how can you not finish an egg roll? Also, no green tea? Just regular black tea. Seemed odd. Maybe they are trendsetters? We also weren’t offered chopsticks. We were given a fork, as if it was assumed we wouldn’t know how to use chopsticks. Okaaaaaaaay… Not much food left over for $ 25 for 2. I almost always eat everything or take left overs at other restaurants. What we had left wasn’t really worth keeping, because of taste mostly. Service was sporadic and I refilled our tea myself.

I was recommended to this abysmal place by a friend, and I could not have been more disappointed. The black pepper chicken was made with rubbery spoiled chicken and when we inquired about it’s freshness we were yelled very rudely. The rest of the food was mediocre Chinese at best, reminiscent of food court chains of days past. I can not say how much this horrible restaurant should be avoided. It is well worth the drive to better quality food! We will never patron the rude, canned meat using hole in the wall again.

Fans is my go-to Chinese restaurant when I am home from school. I love their orange chicken and I consider myself an orange chicken expert! The portions are large, the price is right, and the service is fast and very friendly. I have never had a bad meal here. You can eat in or take out. I have done both. The décor isn’t anything to write home about, but the people who work their are very customer-focused so the modest looks just don’t matter!

Very displeased with the food the service was wonderful the delivery driver was not familiar with this particular part of the business part so the long wait was understandable the food looked amazing but was very bland almost no taste chicken was over cooked… Overall very affordable good service not so good food I guess pick and choose which you value more when looking for a dining experience. Also the 15 minimum for delivery is a little over the top but oh well.

I came upon this chinese treasure about 3 wks ago while traveling to this area on business. The food is outstanding. I am a vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised to have so many selections to choose from. Everything I have tried has been fantastic. The service is wonderful. The people are so friendly. It is a true pleasure to eat here. I will come here every time I am in the area.

Fan’s is close enough that I can walk to it. Based on that alone I appreciate them. They also have a few dishes that are simply delicious. Sesame tofu anyone? Good food, cheap enough, and totally worth it if you live in Niwot. Hours are fine, delivery is fast, they offer you hot tea if you’re waiting for food… I appreciate Fan’s!

Probably the best Chinese food I’ve had. Very friendly service. Lots of food for not a lot of price. Crispy pork was great. Shrimp Lo Mein was also delicious. Very underrated.

I’m a Fan’s fan(and maker of obvious puns). This was the first Chinese restaurant I ate at where the orange sauce tastes like biting into an orange. Where other restaurants attune your palette to the rice vinegar and sugar in their orange sauces, Fan’s is actually made with oranges, and they serve their orange beef, chicken, or shrimp with tiny, zesty slices of caramelized orange peel to complete the effect. This is characteristic of all of their dishes — the extra time devoted to quality where other restaurants tend to cut corners. The dining room is small and can be noisy at times, but their delivery is prompt and when ordering take-out, they offer you complimentary hot green tea while you wait.

Very tasty, but a little on the greasy side. It’s a great location and fast!

The food is only average. The only reason we ever eat there is because it is close to home. Tonight we were overcharged for delivery. I inquired as to the reason and was informed that they keep a LIST of people who have ordered previously and did not tip the driver ENOUGH. Excuse me? We will never order from them again.

Wow. Fooled by high reviews. Ordered take out, the place smelled wonderful when I walked in to pick up. Fooled again. Got home with two very bland dishes. These were supposed to be spicy. The chicken curry was VERY rubbery and flavorless. The so called spicy pork was bland, half the pork was rubbery the other half was tender. On a high note the pork egg rolls were good. Won’t go back.

They have the best vegetarian meat alternatives in Niwot! I recommend the vegetarian sesame chicken dish with broccoli. Delicious! Great, fast and friendly service. I always feel so welcome here. My go to place for a quick lunch.

I love restaurants like this. Awesome service, great food(that actually tastes like fresh food), no frills setting, and great value. I left thinking, «I can’t wait to come back and who can I tell about this place.» This place is a gem! I’m a «fan»! :)

This place has gone downhill fast! We started eating here about a year ago and loved it! Then, they started over-padding their meat dishes with cheap vegetables and including very little meat. I noticed this change over a period of a few months. THEN they started including cheap vegetables in dishes that never included them at all! For instance, I always order chicken and eggplant with garlic sauce. As the name depicts, this dish originally only include chicken and eggplant. As the months progressed, this dish had less and less chicken and eggplant and more and more water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and baby corns; not even included in the description of the dish. When I complained about the situation, the customer service was HORRIBLE! The woman, who claimed to be the manager and refused to let me speak to anyone else, did nothing but argue with me incessantly about how nothing has changed with their dishes(when it was obvious it had since I had been ordering the same dish for a year) and yell at me. When I requested a refund on my dish because it was horrible the woman refused, stating«that would cost me money». A company that changes the quality of their food, then refuses to take responsibility for it will not be receiving my business again and hopefully this will stop others from wasting their money at this establishment as well. Couple that with a «Manager» that yells at and argues with customers, as well as having no interest in rectifying the situation, and you have a very undesirable restaurant!

I was looking for a place to eat last night and avoid the crowds of Valentine’s day. Heard about this place on Unilocal and decided to check it out with the family. Everything positive I heard about this place on Unilocal was true. The owners were truly very friendly and took good care of us. The food was definitely the best Chinese I have had in the greater Denver area. The wonton soup was definitely a favorite with my kids. The veggies they had used, were definitely fresh and the food in general was perfect in terms of saltiness and spiciness. I am going to talk about this place with my friends and definitely encourage anybody in the Boulder county and surrounding places to try this place out. I am a fan of Fan’s!!!

Met a friend at Fan’s(how it’s spelled on the sign outside the restaurant) for lunch recently. First time I’ve tried it. Marvelously friendly and efficient service. Beautiful MSG-free tasty food. I ordered a fish entrée and my friend ordered something vegetarian with tofu. Both entrees were excellent. Soup was lovely. Nice bright crispy vegetables with both entrees. Good value for the money. Liked the simple rice with just a touch of egg. Will return. Lunch includes tea, soup, egg roll, and crab cheese wonton. All lunches were under 8 dollars.

What an awesome unassuming place! Great for casually sitting with your family and enjoying tea while waiting for your order. Great for delivery and take out too! The staff is nothing but friendly. The people running the establishment are kind and go out of their way to get what you want from your food. If you want to sit in and eat, don’t expect frilly decorations or goodies. Do expect a clean pleace with almost a home-y feel to it. The effort is spent on preparation, flavor and service. If ordering for delivery, expect portions as generous as when dining in. Hands down the best place around for this type of food!

Consider the audience. Five stars wouldn’t be a stretch. FOOD This is Chinese food for Americans, half salt-of-the-earth, half athletes. It’s a crazy place, the Front Range. So they have Americanized Chinese food. They don’t use MSG or trans-fat. You can get tons of fresh, crisp, bright veggies. You can get meat and starch, hold the veggies. They do gluten-free. What’s your taste? Ok, I’d like some good tea. They have one kind of hot tea, and it’s passable. There are a couple other things you could complain about if you wanted to be a punk, but you don’t like to be a punk, do you. Neither do it. I’d argue that a small town like Niwot could hardly support a 5-star establishment. They custom-make plates to specifications. Hate bamboo shoots? Order whatever dish without them. Want extra garlic? Suit yourself; I wasn’t planning to make out with you anyway. We have successfully ordered dishes with no sugar, even. They made a special batch of unsweetened sauce. BRILLIANT. Where else can you get that kind of attention? A few places, actually, but it’s still rare. SERVICE It is ridiculous how nice these people are. Seriously. Not counting the high school kids they hire, which is easy to ignore, the family that runs this place is unbelievably sweet. Anything you want, as long as you can weave through the language barriers, you get. Actually, that’s a worthwhile point: speak in plain, simple language. Now is not the time to work on your complex prose. Instead of «I’d like the chicken with mixed veggies, but sugar would be a problem, so if you can make it without that, I’d greatly appreciate it,» stick with«Chicken with mixed veggies, no sugar. Please.» Seriously. Make it easy for everyone. :) OTHER What else do you want? Unless you’re in a wheelchair, there’s nothing more to desire here. If you ARE in a wheelchair, you’d probably want an easier way to get in. I’m not, so I can’t speak to how difficult it would be to get in, honestly, but it seems less than ideal. Sorry. FINALVERDICT I completely love this place. Completely. Go there. Tell the owners that you love them. Or tell them that I do, because that’s definitely true.
