I came here with a friend on Saturday night for dinner. We called ahead about 10 minutes before 8:00 p.m. to see if they had availability for 2 people. The woman who answered the phone told us they did so we hopped in a cab over to Madera. I would suggest making reservations if going on a weekend night beforehand as we basically got the last table in the place. The ambiance is fantastic & everyone from the hostess to our waitress was extremely friendly. They even pulled over a chair to accommodate a friend who was just dropping by for a glass of wine & not eating. For dinner we both shared the cuban sandwich and steak sandwich with a side of rice and beans. All 3 dishes were delicious. For an app we shared the calamari which wasn’t that great & very chewy(hence why I can’t give a full 5 stars). I would definitely come back to try some of the other dishes.

The food is phenomenal and the ambience is great. If you have room after dinner definitely try the fried ice cream. I’m giving my review 3 stars because every time I come in for a meal(or in a recent case for a gift certificate) they act like I’m bothering them being there asking for something. It honestly makes me hesitant to go regularly.

We came here for my birthday with girlfriends and the food is really good. The only draw back is that the sparkling sangria had no sparkle and not enough alcohol that’s why they don’t get 5 stars

Came her for a birthday lunch for a coworker. It was just ok for lunch. The portions are very small for lunch. The chef may have been off his game that day because there were a lot of customer food complaints. I’ve done dinner here as well and it was a much better experience. It’s worth a try but not so impressed.

I think the other reviews were fair on this place… good atmosphere good service good drinks and food Pricing structure was for GREAT not good. But in their defense… if you wanted to eat cheaper you could with less expensive items on the menu. I would go back.

Great food and atmosphere. Prices are fair except for the small«Café con Leches». Coffee’s turn out to be more expensive than lunch!

Stopped by for dinner, it was pretty good. Very overpriced on their entrees and drinks. They did, however, provide us with great seating, very good service, the skirt steak was delicious, and the pork chunks for appetizers were also appealing. The side of rice and beans were great, the beans were a bit too salty. Two of the items we asked for on the menu were also not available. Some of the prices on the menu didn’t match the prices applied to the bill. Food was pretty good, we’ll try something different next time, curious about the sandwiches.

Recently went on Saturday evening and to my surprise was pretty empty with a few other customers. The hosted was nice and we were seated right away. The place looks really nice and definitely has a Cuban style to it. I ordered Ropa Vieja(Beef Stew) with moro rice and it was delicious! Smaller portion than I expected but definitely fulfilling with great flavor. My boyfriend ordered the skirt stake, medium well. He loves to eat but was slightly disappointed with the size portion. It was very small but had amazing flavor especially when added the chimichurri sauce. Even though he ordered medium well, he gotten well done, however, the stake was very juicy and tasty, we didnt bother to change it. He wishes he had more. Passion fruit mojito and mango mojito were great. We ordered side dish of Yuca fries and were very tasty and crispy with the side of garlic and olive oil dip. The only critic I have the price your paying for is pretty expensive. Also since the door was open the whole time there was a fly flying around us half of the time so it was pretty annoying to eat but eventually went a away. Overall I enjoyed my time there. Would come back again, hopefully no fly will be bothering us. As we started to leave, started getting busy around 7:30 so it’s good thing we got there a little early.

I’ve been to madera twice with my family. The restaurant is pleasant a bit tight if you’re sitting by the wall but the food is amazing. The lechon asado is amazing, the churasco is tasty and the mojitos are delicious. Def. a place to return for dinner.

The Food: Excellent. We went today and we loved everything we ordered. It was fresh. There were a lot of Cubans so I am assuming that it was authentic. The Menu: Everyone could find what they want – beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian – and the menu has lots of interesting variety! Service: We liked our waiter very much. But I think, they need to hire more help on busy weekends. Price: Appetizer: I think they were between $ 8-$ 12. Sides: About $ 5. Entrée: Mostly high teens to almost $ 30. Desserts: $ 8-$ 9. Live Music: I enjoyed it very much. It was guitar and voice. BRAVO!

What I ordered: 1. White Sangria — was okay. 2. Fried Cod fish balls — was good, nothing special. 3. Braised Pork entrée — was so salty I had to refill my water 3 or 4 times just eating that dish. Also, there were so many flies/mosquities in the high tables next to the entrance. Don’t sit there. Will not be back.

Live music, great food, I felt like I was back in Europe! It was a group of 4 and we had the Lechon asado con mojo criollo, Grandma’s porkchops, and Madera Style Steak. I absolutely loved all of em. It went well with our red sangria. Parking was a bit tricky but, well worth to trip over here for some good food and environment. This would be the summers hangout. Mainly cause there’s bars all around.

20% tip for parties of 5 or more? That is not fair. If he/she deserves it, that’s fine. Should be and in most restaurants its 8 or more. Must be nice to be a waiter/waitress here.

This is a great dinner spot for large and small parties. There is ton of foot traffic on Friday nights which makes it a loud venue. So don’t plan a romantic date here during the happy hours. We ordered the empanadas which were good starters. However it isnt anything spectacular. I ordered the shredded beef stew for my main and my date ordered the skirt steak. Both dishes were filling but not really significant to write home to. We had tres leches cake which was delicious. Servers were attentive. There was one clumsy young who server spilled a entire drink all over the floor. They cleaned it up right away though. I have ordered delivery from this place and I am not sure it is worth it overall. The portions look a lot smaller when in take out containers and the beef stew comes without the fried plantains like cup and cooked plantains — FYI. Perhaps for lunch, you can order the Cuban sandwich as the best bang for your buck!

Second time here, and still very delicious. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed given the brunch crowd, so service was a bit slow this time, but the food was still great. For apps, we had the Cuban-style grilled shrimp(seasoned excellently), the Grilled sugarcane-skewered shrimp with rum glaze(pretty decent, sauce was a little sweet for my taste), and the fried calamari(not to breaded, good-sized calamari). For mains, I had the coffee-marinated skirt steak special which came with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus. The steak was fantastic. My mother got the Mariscada seafood stew — a sampled quite a bit, plenty of seafood and the sauce was amazing. My dad had the chilean seabass, delicate and perfectly cooked. We tried to order the guava breadpudding with vanilla ice cream, but apparently they weren’t ready yet. We opted for the tres leches and fried ice cream(healthy alternatives) — the fried ice cream was great, not too much batter, but loved the added cinnamon. the tres leches was super sweet, but still tasty. All in all, good eats.

New menu is a hit and meets the needs of the community for lunch. Lunch options are below $ 10. I previously avoided this place as it was very pricey for lunch, but now I have no excuse. I ordered the madera salmon. Sounded very appetizing as 3 other members of my group ordered the same. The fish was a decent size and it came with rice and beans. Salmon was very light and quite delicious when combined with the salistia. Others got sandwiches and a pork entrée. From what I can see, the sandwich is a very nice portion. Very nice décor and artwork. Recommend the owner to update the website with the new menu.

Came to Madera with friends before a comedy show at Laughing Devil Comedy Club right across the street. Pros: * Happy Hour Deal(only at bar) — drinks are $ 5 – 6 compared to $ 10+ when seated. * My friends and I came around 6:30 Saturday and we were seated right away. It gets busy after 8PM. * Fantastic food + drinks! I loved my medium rare Skirt Steak that came with rice & beans. Steak was more than enough for 1 person and cooked perfectly. The rice & beans were a bit dry and bland but delicious when I poured my chimichurri sauce over it. I had a Passion Fruit Mojito and it didn’t disappoint. * Fast and friendly service Would love to come back to try their Paella and other yummy cocktails!

Nos gusto mucho la comida y el ambiente! Buen mojito y el restaurante lindo y limpio. Tuvimos un inconveniente pero ellos supieron resolverlo muy bien! Volveremos.
