The service was super nice. I really liked the space and the fact that they had that cornhole game. I’m just sad they didn’t have more beer on draft. I definitely want to come back when they’ve brewed a few more.

Not too bad, not too bad at all. The newest addition to the LIC beer trail. The space is ginormous and my friends and I had fun playing bags in a space that allowed for us to play bags with the actual amount of space in between. They have 8 taps but have about 4 going at one time, they’re building up to it but not at capacity yet. They specialize in Belgian style beers so I had the 3 they had on tap at the time: WonderLIC, Ardent Core and Genuine Illusion. The saisons stood out: Ardent Core in particular was the most complex. A little funkiness to it, a little sweetness. Delicious. I’m eager to see when they’ll be filling all their taps 100%.

LIC Beer Project is a really awesome… project…smack in the middle of Long Island City. It’s close(ish) to other beer brewers like Rockaway Brewing Co., Big Alice Brewing and Transmitter so that’s sweet. It’s also another patch in the tightly knit beer brewery quilt that has been keeping beer lovers warm in Queens in recent years… mmmm…craft beer. «Project» is definitely the right term to use for this place. Last time I was here was as part of the Queens Beer Book. They have many taps/spigots behind the bar, but only 3 kegs actually tapped. _________________________________________________ The beers I sampled here were(in order of highest ABV to lowest): + Trigger Rye(7% ABV): This beer pours almost like a champagne — it was a hazy yellow, had visible carbonation, a floral aroma and a slight sourdough bread-like finish. This was my fave of the three but was almost tied with the next beer… + Ardent Core(6.5% ABV): This beer had a funky spice to it and featured cardamom notes. I really liked it, though I could see myself sessioning this less than I would the Trigger Rye. + Brett Saison(5.5% ABV): It’s a good solid beer, but personally not as delightful to me as the previous two. _________________________________________________ Other Perks of LIC Beer Projects is just how large their space is. They have a few tables, chairs, stools around the entrance and a great cornhole set up towards the back/right-side. I love cornhole and even own a small set… this is a really fun, cool place to go to on a date or with a modestly sized group. I can’t wait to see what other beers come out of here :).

Project is actually a good description for this place. Its a work in progress as they only had three beers on tap from their brewery. However, all three beers that I got to try were not too shabby. Trigger Rye(7%): Rye Saison that boasts it holds a ton of hops but tastes smooth like liquid gold. More yeasty than anything and tastes like bread. Mmmm golden delicious bread. This was my favorite. Brett Saison(5.5%): A Belgium brewed saison that I honestly didn’t like too much and it had a funky after taste. Ardent Core(6.5%): Yet another saison but a healthy marriage of the two. It’s like we’ve reached a pretty good harmony finally of having those hops and an intense and acceptable enough flavor. Rounds out nicely with a strong taste and aroma of cardamom while still balancing a refreshing lite aspect. Downsides: The bathroom situation was a fail. One of the two bathrooms’ lock didn’t work and its that situation where the door is too far away from the toilet to be able to hold it and go at the same time. The other bathroom when I came here in December’s lights didn’t work. So you had your option: pee in the dark or cross your fingers that you don’t get walked in on. Another thing, they have like 12 taps on the bar with only 3 beers. Kind of a bummer if you are coming all the way out here but hope they have some more fun new things in stock for the future. Upsides: This place is HUGE! Enormous ceilings, the bar area is a little bit tiny and there is minimal seating but if you are coming here for just a beer it’s a-okay. They allow outside food because there is none. Best part of the bar though really is that they have cornhole set up on the floor.

Solid place. Beer was delicious and reasonably priced. Tap was slow but not a big deal cuz whose in a rush at these places anyway? Pretty quiet and low-key with a relaxing atmosphere. There’s also a cornhole«arena» which was a nice surprise. Fun joint to hang for a few hours for sure.

So glad we got a chance to go to LIC Beer Project on Halloween, talking horror movies with the bartender and some other customers was quite fun :) And the beers were really spectacular! They have sours in barrels that will be bottled that I can’t wait to get my hands on. I can see coming back here a lot more often than some of the other LIC/Astoria breweries. It’s also a beautifully designed space.

Food: They welcome outside food. They also have menus for you to order food to be delivered there as you enjoy their amazing beers. Brew: They are cooking up some delicious Belgium inspired beers with great body and aromas. The Ardent Core was my favorite. The menu is short and sweet. The décor is simple, clean, and welcoming. It’s located between warehouses in Long Island City. The bar is small but plenty of seats and standing areas for you to be comfortable. I will be returning soon.

This is a 3 month old/new 5,500 square foot, 20 barrel craft brewery and tap house on the edge of a residential area of Long Island City, but smack dab in a commercial area, so it is easy to miss as you drive by. Damen, one of the owners, shows his real love for beer and craft brewing(along with partner Daniel Acosta, who was not present the night we were there), as he shares his knowledge of brewing, fermenting, sipping, and enjoying Belgian inspired beers, American wild and sour beers. There is already a very strong following of brew-lovers who come here, order special releases, and simply enjoy the clean, expansive feeling to the tap room and fermenting area in the rear. Their beers are already loved by Mets fans at CitiField. Come share that love, take a tour, and lovingly sip some great, fresh-tasting craft beer and you will never drive by LIC Beer Project without stopping in first.

Good brewery but not the best in LIC. The beer project is a new entry to the ever increasingly popular beer crawl in LIC and it feels a bit like they grew too fast. The space is huge with massive fermentation tanks but there really isn’t much seating inside. They do have corn hole though. The beer selection is tiny with only three on tap and the styles were pretty close with two Belgian style ales. The beer was good but not amazing. Hopefully they can find their specialty soon and grow into it.

[full disclosure; happen to be friends with some staff] It’s been cool watching this place take off. Every time I’m here it’s never empty but still personable. It’s a gorgeous facility but still dedicated to serious beer making(check out that open fermentation tank!!) More beers keep coming and if you ever see a note about a pilot beer, just order it. The beer may never make it to production status but it will still taste great. Their standby beers are great refreshers in an IPA-saturated world while still paying adequate homage to hops. Beers are always fresh and delicious, $ 5-$ 7 range for about a 14oz pour. Absolutely love that people are afforded a substantial competition when choosing a favorite local brewery in NYC. LIC Beer Project will keep me coming back to taste a perspective offering nice diversity on the NYC brewery map.

Place looks awesome, the beer tastes good and there’s Cornhole… What else is there not to love? Super chill. Limited supply with 3 beers on tap but they are high in quality and taste.

Went on a little Queens brewery tour on Sunday. We hit up Rockaway Brewing, Big Alice, Singlecut, and this place. I have to say, LIC Beer Project was hands down the best we had. More limited in selection, as they were only pouring three beers(two saisons, and one other that I think was just a Belgian style Ale). Would have liked to see a darker choice thrown in there, but the beers they did have were fantastic. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but close to the train. The space itself is beautiful and huge. The people manning the taps were also very friendly. Really dug this spot and will definitely bring some people back here.

Was here for a networking event during the week and was impressed with the space and the beer. I like the philosophy of the brewmaster… he’s very true to his vision and isn’t chasing trends by brewing super hoppy IPAs or anything like that. He seemed to be really into the science of brewing and was concerned about balance in flavor. I tried three beers and give them all thumbs up. Smooth, drinkable, full-bodied. Even the pale ale had depth and wasn’t the watery mess you sometimes find. I think this is a project worth of supporting, if only to find out how their experiments with secondary fermentation turn out! Can’t give it five start because of lack of food availability and the fact that it’s only open weekends(although I understand the constraints of a new place, so I get why that’s the case). But definitely four strong stars. Worth the stroll through a very industrial section of LIC.

This place is brand new with HUGE potential. I can’t wait to see what this spot morphs into. They opened about a month ago and it sounds like they have some great plans; board games, corn hole, etc. No matter what they do, I think it’ll be great because, most importantly, they’ve already won me over with their beer. I tried the 3 beers they have on tap, currently all saisons. It’s a «project» so it seems they’re experimenting right now. Friendly and chilled out staff. A décor of repurposed wood mixed with the modern-y/scientific-y feel of a lab. Totally cool. Can’t wait to come back!

4.5 stars… My girlfriend and I are huge fans of visiting breweries and wineries and as part of Queens Beer Week, the newest of NYC’s booming craft breweries, LIC Beer Project, had a soft opening yesterday. The official opening I believe will be at some point next month, «As soon as the beer is ready» was the actual reason given to us by one of the owners. The brewery is nestled in an industrial neighborhood full of autobody shops, just past a rather shady area of Long Island City. The plus side is because of that they were able to get a great wide open space not at all cramped. The impressive brewing facility with the tanks are right there in the open but in a back area. The actual bar is on the smallish side but opens up to a great wide open space that has a combination of rustic reclaimed wood, wooden barrels, and clean modern subway tiles. The guys working the bar couldn’t have been more friendly and informative on the 4 beers they had on tap. Not sure if the pricing is going to stay consistent but when we came it was $ 5 for two samples or $ 5 for a 10ish ounce glass. Growlers and some merchandise was also available. At this point there wasn’t any music going, food, or games available but again this was a soft opening so who knows what the future brings for them. So far I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the following breweries in NYC: Finback Brewery Other Half Brewing Transmitter Brooklyn Brewery Rockaway Brewing Company Chelsea Brewing Company Big Alice Brewery Threes Brewing Flagship Brewery Singlecut Brewery LIC Beer Project Heartland Brewery Greenpoint Brewing Co Keg and Lantern Brewing Of that list of breweries, LIC Beer Project has had the best service and among the best beer out of the whole list(Finback and Threes Brewing are close contenders though). Each and every one of their beers was phenominal and I had a really hard time picking out which was my favorite. The four made available were: Adrent Core: A blonde saison 6% abv Slient Vixen: A French country ale 6.5% abv DK Gris: A table bier 4.5% abv DK Bruin: A «wild» ale 8.5% abv If you don’t fall in love with at least one of those beers, you probably don’t like beer and shouldn’t be visiting a brewery. I will note that I’m not a big fan of stouts or super strong IPAs so if that’s what you’re into exclusively then you may not be into those four offerings. The only reason I would give them 4.5 stars aside from the lack of food(free snacks would be ideal) and games, would be that I wished $ 5 would have bought me a full 16 oz pint(or at the very least 12oz). Aside from those points LIC is definitely a place my girlfriend and I will be making many return trips to in the future and we wish them the best of luck in all that they do.
