Secret Gem for Guatemalan’s in Long Beach’s Wrigley Village. I recently moved to this part of town and one day while walking my dog found this place literally around the corner from my apartment. Being Half Guatemalan and recently moving out made me feel i was back at home when i saw the Quetzal Bird from outside the shop’s window. This location sells everything from authentic hot home cooked plates, pastries/baked goods, and Central American ingredients. The shop was filled with Cola Champagne, cans of Ducal Beans, and the ready to make«Chow Mein» like back home. The people were very welcoming but only spoke Spanish, so get those Spanish chops working. I have tried the Carne Guisada with rice and black beans. OMG what can i say its just like home! This plate tasted just as good as my grandma’s. The Rellenitos were so good I bought extras to take home for my boyfriend and I. In addition, I found out they take orders on traditional tamales for the upcoming holidays. Overall, this place has a new fan and I will be returning more often. Hopefully not just because I am nostalgic and want a taste of home.
