How do you run out of bread at 7:30 on a Saturday night? My wife and I went to the Boathouse to celebrate our 20th Anaversary. After our waiter took our drink orders he told us he had some fresh bread ready to come out of the oven for us. After twenty minutes we inquired and were told they ran out of bread. I spoke to the manager Morris on my way to the men’s room and he said he sent someone to the grocery store(which is a half mile away). The bread never came for us or anyone else around our table. What really gets me is for their outdoor menu they have Flat bread, bread they use fo Club sandwich and burger buns. We found this out as we were walking past the outdoor menu on our way out. Point is if a customer is spending over $ 100 for two people and expresses he wants bread, get him something!

We had the Three Amigos sushi… OMG the best! Our servers Katrina and Matt were on it. Good service and good food. What else do you need. Baby had Hendricks with tonic and enjoyed it, I had a glass of Hess Cab… delicious! Def coming back! Great date nite.

If I could give this place half a star I would. We USED to eat here regularly but that will stop. We signed up for their July 3 holiday event four weeks ago and they said they would call us when tickets were available. I was called today, was spoken to rudely when inquiring about an umbrella on the patio for my elderly mother and told they would call me back. Never heard back from them so I called them back only to find out the only way to purchase tickets is on their website. I went online to find that all the patio seats are sold out! SCREWYOUPEOPLE. I won’t spend my money here anymore. The place has NEVER been the same since it reopened as the Boathouse. Totally overpriced. EXYREMELYPOORCUSTOMERSERVICE. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about this place that keeps me going back; the food is average and there’s nothing special about the service. I don’t tend to visit a restaurant more than once but for some very strange, unknown reason, this place always draws me back.

2 hour drive to meet friends for bday dinner\reunion.drinks brought in a timely manner… appetizers good., had to ask for bread after seeing it being brought to all other around us and this was an hour in to this experience… actual entrée tookforever,.ahi was OK spinach salad and quinoa no taste, but pirtion size was great. There was no salt or pepper on table. My boyfriends mushroom crusted halibut was a joke… he had to ask server if it was actually the correct dish. No mushrooms anywhere and a small portion. Our party of 14 was very disappointed and for the price we paid I expected much more. I would not recommend for dinner. Nice atmosphere but maybe for me just drink and appetizer place.

Went to dinner at the Boathouse last night for the first time. We truly enjoyed our experience there. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was excellent. We ordered the appetizer trio, which was great. The JP sushi roll was really good and I don’t even do raw fish. I had the mushroom crusted halibut which I enjoyed immensely. My husband and his friend both got steak and they said the NY strip and the filet were both really flavorful. I was drinking the pirate palmer cocktail, which I recommend! It was an expensive night but considering all the food we ordered plus drinks it was well priced and worth the cost. Definitely would go again for dinner and want to try brunch also.

Can’t imagine a better way to spend my Sunday Funday than at The Boathouse with friends. Joshua is seriously the best server — all smiles and great service with amazing attention to detail.

A group of us went to this place after a doing a boating activity with London Boat Rentals next door. The waiter brought piping hot sourdough bread and butter to the table with water shortly after we sat down. I ordered the sliders trio(Kobe beef, lamb and rib) and a side of fries. All of the sliders were good but the rib was the best! The meat was super tender and flavorful. The fries were good as well. I would say the customer service was good overall but my friend did ask for more bread multiple times before the waiter brought some. If I return I would definitely sit outside for the view of the water.

5 stars for the servers and food(the ginger server was super friendly and he was super accommodating) –3 stars because the bartender refused to change one of their channels to the hockey game even though they had two monitors SIDEBYSIDE playing the same basketball game. She blamed it on the regulars but come on, it’s MDW and people from every region are out and you have several tvs to be able to afford diversity. Pro tips: cheese plate was awesome because of the exotic jams they served with the accoutrements. Chowder is incredible and so is the ginger coconut shrip. Champagne is a little sweet, order the Sauvignon Blanc. Live music is awesome and there’s dancing in the main room if you feel like shaking your tail feathers. We went next door and the bartenders there had all the games playing AND the champagne spits were proper.

Great service. Attentive & friendly. Expensive! Nice ambiance. Seats in the patio has awesome waterfront view. Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Poke: delish, fresh, great seasoning, perfect spice, a kick of spiciness was awesome. Love the fact that they added cucumber – 》tasted refreshing. Surf &Turf: market price was $ 85, Lobster was shockingly dry. I didn’t expect steamed lobster to be super dry :(. Steak was flavorful, tender & yummy. Mashed potato was tasty. Chilean Seabass was tender & good. The glaze was a bit too sweet. :( Flourless Choc Cake was good, light and not too sweet. NY Cheesecake was good.

Shame, looks like things have gone down hill BIGTIME here. Good took approximately 45 minutes to bring out. My wife’s Kobe Burger had died due to over exposure to hear lamp(plate was hot, fries and inside of burger was cold). Even worse was how soggy everything was in the burger. Bottom bun was either soaked in water before being made or the dressing had sat on it for WAY too long. I ordered sashimi with my salad, the waiter explained that was what was causing the delay… the raw fish that requires no prep. My salad was bland in flavor and sad to look at(see picture). Spinach looked like it had been wet and sat for a while. I would pay you $ 20 if you could guess the type of dressing they used, don’t think they used anything. I thought there was supposed to be pear in this salad, it had cucumber instead. Salmon was pathetic and flavorless. My mother in laws salad was suppose to have chicken, she couldn’t find any chicken. Fish and chips seemed a bit underdone

We love the Boat House on the Bay. My wife and I live about 40 miles from this restaurant and we recently made our 4th trip being it’s was her birthday and that’s where she wanted to go. This last trip was extra special and we brought a group of 10 to celebrate on a busy Saturday night just before sunset. We made reservations with the catering manager Kristen prior and we could not have been more pleased with the arrangements. The wait staff is always courteous and attentive and the bartender makes a legitimate martini. I know I’ve had a few. The times we’ve been there, they’ve had live soft contemporary music which just adds to the ambiance. Another added plus is there is plenty of free parking. So I’ve tried many different dishes over my 4 trips. I usually stick with the seafood(BTW is very fresh) and my wife is more of a meat potatoes and pasta girl. We’ve both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My particular favorites are the sautéed Brussels Sprout appetizer or the oysters on the half shell. This last trip I split a couple sushi selections and the smoked meat plate. The sushi is right up there with your traditional better Japanese sushi restaurants. The smoke fish plate was a very good. That might be my new favorite here. So if you’re looking for a great atmosphere to celebrate a special occasion or looking for a reason to spend a little time on the water front, I will highly recommend the Boat House on the Bay.

They opened up the lounge area seating(indoors by the bar) during dinner on mothers day. The menu featured both lunch and dinner items, a wider selection than the indoor seating. Waiting for drinks & appetizers felt like forever. Waiter did the best he can but seemed to be the only one for our entire section. He ended up comping one of our appetizers since it came out late with our entrees. The lobster mac had bits of shell in it so beware. May have been due to how busy they were?

We went here on a whim because we like to try new places and we happened to be dressed up for the evening. The view was awesome and it was cold and windy but of course, like SoCal residents we like to sit outside. The patio is littered with heaters and it was very comfortable sitting outside. The servers were really nice but the service was definitely slow. That is fine, we enjoy each others’ company and we were enjoying our drinks and the ambiance. We decided to order the clam chowder to start and it sounded great on a cold evening. This was the best thing we ordered. We ended up getting a little full on bread and soup before our meal came. Good thing we did because we ordered crab legs(I think they were around $ 60) that were ice cold. We thought, ok it is cold out side, but then we tried the mashed potatoes that were served under the crab and still… ice cold. I also ordered the New York Strip(around $ 50 I believe, highly recommended by our waitress). I ordered medium rare and it came medium-medium well. By this time we had been there a while and just wanted to eat and go home. The waitress came by as usual and asked how our meal was. Since she asked I told her we were a little disappointing that the crab was ice cold and the steak was over cooked. She looked at the steak and said«ya that is medium.» She said she would take everything back but I said we did not want to wait. However, my girlfriend loves crab legs more than she loves me so I wanted her to enjoy them, especially for $ 60. The waitress ended up bringing her a new plate of HOT crab but did not say anything about my steak. Fine, because I said I didn’t want to wait. The manager came out with the crab and apologized and gave us a free dessert. Funny, to pay over $ 100 for food they messed up and just offer more food after being full. We said no thanks because we were full. All in all, I would like to go back for happy hour to utilize the patio and have a nice evening, but for a nice expensive meal I have definitely had much better. Maybe one day I will give it another chance as the steak had good flavor, was just really tough(chewy) to eat.

Great spot to hang out and have a drink and some light apps. Yes it is crowded and you may have to wait a half hour on the weekend to get a seat on the deck. One of the best water view patios in a 30 mile radius. We enjoyed the band(70s Rock) and hung out for about an hour. They have a decent selection of craft beers on draft, although they are a bit pricey. I would not describe the crowd as hipster… if anything its close proximity to Leisure World draws an older crowd.

Been wanting to come here for the longest and upon my recent happy hour outing with a girlfriend of mine I got to. After reading all the good reviews and hearing good things from friends I’d have to say this place did not disappoint. It was a cooler day but we chose to be sat outside. About half way through our meal it started to get chilly but the employees were already on it and we’re making rounds to turn on the heat lamps. The view is gorgeous. Nothing like a great meal with a great view. Ok now for the important part, the food. Complementary bread was nice and warm and came with butter. During happy hour you can’t get 1.50 oysters so we obviously went with a dozen. OYSTERS we fresh and came with cocktail sauce. They ran out of the wine vinegar sauce… Boo! 4 stars**** FIREROASTEDARTICHOKE– artichoke is flavored with Garlic, Citrus, Herbs & Olive Oil and roasted. Kinda bland. And the dipping sauce was very mayo-y… 3 stars*** CRISPYCALAMARI came with Fennel, Cocktail Sauce & Chipotle Aioli. Crispy, flavorful, and probably the best thing we had that day besides the oysters 4 stars*** I’ll definitely be coming back to try other options.

Beautiful resturaunt with beautiful view! Sits right on the ocean at long beach! My sister got the French toast. We loved it. I loved the candied pecans added on top. Nice touch! I ordered the fish and chips. It was good. Crunchy and crisp on the outside but I did notice more towards the center the breading got a little bit soggy :( Didn’t try the oysters but my cousins said they were good. Service was excellent. Really nice ambiance. Nice place to go for a romantic date or even a family gathering.

As soon as we arrived, we struggled with Parking. There were 30 min parking or yellow loading zone parking etc, but on Sunday’s those don’t matter so you’re allowed to park anywhere :) We walked in from the deck area and asked specifically to be seated near the window area closest to the ocean so that we could take better pictures while gazing at the ocean, we had to wait a little bit longer for that table but it only took 15 minutes and was well worth the wait. One of the best items is the bottle of champagne with(your choice or either orange juice or cranberry) for only $ 18! The food was very pleasing, it did take awhile for it to come out but we passed the time quickly by taking lots of pictures and listening to the live music an artist was performing in the middle of the restaurant. One tip about sitting outside on the deck tho, by the end of my sitting the sun was burning up my back so I was really hot. So try to sit in the shade if something like that bothers you. Will be back again someday because I had a great experience there.

Wow what a great find. Not sure why I never knew of this place in Long Beach — a well-appointed stylish eatery with fantastic bayside seating. We had a great lunch here. It is now autumn and so I really appreciate being able to eat outdoors in the mild sunshine and a scenic view. The service was friendly and efficient. I had their Angus burger and fries. Except for the fact that I always had a mouth full of this delicious burger, this entrée makes for a great complement to just a sunny afternoon with friends. Next time? Dinner.
