The food was great! Really never saw our server, except when she brought our food. We waited over 20 minutes for the check and was finally given it when we got up and asked for it. The deserts looked awesome, but unfortunately never order one. Not sure where our server was hanging out.

Very bad sushi here. They cover, i mean cover their rolls with 2 pounds of sautéed gtilled brown onions, the kind you would see under a steak, or have in a big hamburger??? Obviously in Japanese to disrespect fish like that. On top of that they stuffed the roll with super spicy minced tuna. Why call it an albacore roll? The speacial they have udon seafood pasta. Very bland, like left over bland. The soup was so watery it splattered each time you tried to get an udon oring. nasty. Volcano roll was salty chopped salmon from a can. I should have known when the chef came into resturaunt from hangin out in parking lot. Yeah haning out in parking lot with the dishwasher. Yeah the guy with the soakin wet sweater was the dish washer. Any ways we put the order in and they were asked to come back inside and get to work. Yes, the place was empty. Hey, the music was nice 80s ballads. Nice music. The servers were nice too. I knew they were asking themselves, what are these people doin here??? Long story short, this sushi, food is not good at all. No quslity, way over priced. The mackerel sushi is just vinegar, no gish taste to it. The rice under sushi, cold and nasty. No passion. Never again. I had good sushi before, so i know bad sushi.

New menu and new management Sushi Ren has surprised me with an over the top great experience. I have been a fan of this Asian fusion restaurant since their opening several years ago. The new menu is full of masterfully prepared delights. The service and hospitality is spot on. Paul assures that your needs are met. If you haven’t tried Sushi Ren nows the time to visit. if you have come back.

For starters I’m been generous by giving 2 stars, it should be lower but this review is based on the one time I’ve been here and I usually give places a couple of chances but I’m not planning on coming back :/The sushi was really not good at all, the rice was old, very little tempura on the rolls, the seaweed soggy and the crab meat was of the cheapest kind. I would like to think the waiter was just new and inexperienced and distracted and not that he was careless and rude… So maybe that explains the waiting time and the fact he didn’t know what was on the rolls :(It’s sad to say I can make better sushi or even the one at the grocery store is better tasting than this :/Overall it was just really bad service and the quality of food even worse.

Sometimes I like to switch up and hop between the good sushi spots in Long Beach. The décor and booths reminds me of an American diner haha. Sushi Ren has great quality fish. The prices are slightly expensive when comparing around Long Beach. The nigiri prices were a bit more than what I had hoped for but I was extremely excited that the sushi chef prepared mine with good-sized slices. The jalapeño poppers here were pretty good. Service is a hit or miss. Some are extremely nice and attentive. Other times, we had to flag someone down. One time, I called in for a to-go order. They gave us a free edamame appetizer, which was nice [: Ordered for 2 people and had leftovers(spent over $ 65. My fault. I tend to order more than what I can eat in one sitting

First and foremost, the service was exceptional. Friendly servers, especially Paul, greeted and checked our table from time to time to see if we need anything with professional manner without making you feel uncomfortable while you are eating. As far as their food, we had a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi salad, and the famous spicy chicken with cheese. By far the best rolls in Long Beach area. Food feels clean and fresh so much so that you can feel the piece of sushi alive in your mouth. I have already visited two times with friends for lunch, and will continue to eat here. Strongly recommended to roll lovers.

I don’t really have anything bad to say other than it being a little overpriced. We only got three rolls and it was $ 50. Location was ok. Not hard to find, but it’s a place to eat, definitely not for necessarily a romantic atmosphere or anything close. The location is big though and it does have plenty of leg room. The good thing is that it doesn’t seem as cramped as a shoebox as all the other sushi places I’ve ever been to. Menu is extensive and from the looks of it, their happy hour menu is good and comparable to other places, but their happy hour menu only includes basic rolls and not necessarily the specialty rolls that attract most. Food was fresh, service was good, but again, only bad thing to really say was that it was more pricy than most. That, and if you look at the picture I posted of the Vegas rolls we got, they’re not identical. More specifically, the roll on the right had raw fish when the roll is supposed to be fried and thoroughly cooked. The roll on the left was done much better. Mediocrity and inconsistency never sit well with me so I give this place two stars. 99.9% chance I won’t be back nor recommend the restaurant.

Haven’t figured this place out yet. Been here 5 times in last 2 months. Service great 3 x. Terrible 2x Food sometimes great, sometimes blah. Their sushi rolls are generally good, but not overall great. Tuesday night salmon lovers special was excellent. Had tuna poke the other night, won’t again. Had nabayki(sp?) udon tonight(jan 7), and flavor excellent! But back home it comes with meat not here. Will get this again Will continue coming, as convenient to hotel when am here for business. And just need to find the right dishes for me.

Very impressed! We both got the Nigiri Sushi combo. All the fish was very fresh. Melt in your mouth. Delicious. Service was excellent. Very friendly staff. We will definitely be back to this place. The only other thing I could have wished for was All You Can Eat, but oh well. Very enjoyable experience. Happy New Year!!!

Came on a Saturday night and it wasn’t crazy packed. Service was not that impressive. I will admit my review was colored by being hangry, but I was disappointed how long it took for our order to be taken. We checked in via the help app to get the free spicy garlic Edamame which never came. Also we ordered two orders of regular Edamame which never came. The server mentioned they used to have sushi boats but they stopped serving that which was disappointing. Finally when the food arrived it was good. I got the ramen and Japanese Lasagna sushi. The spicy ramen was tasty with a little heat. The Japanese Lasagna was tasty, but a little too heavy on the cream cheese. I think the problems with the initial service may have been because the server was new, and then we got a new server and it was better. Portions were reasonable and the pricing slightly above what I would expect for the type of sushi restaurant it was.

Been here twice and both times were pretty delicious. Ordered salmon and yellowtail belly sushi. Both tasted buttery and fresh! Also, ordered the Baked Jambalaya roll, Philadelphia Roll, Ren Special and the mango sorbet for dessert. Service is pretty good. Will make this place a regular spot! Oh and be sure to check in for your free edamame or Gyoza! Free = Awesome!

Not bad, not great but not bad. We were really craving a nice cool meal on a hot summer day. Pulled out my trusty Unilocal that led me to this sushi spot. We got here right when they first opened for lunch. We ordered seaweed salad that was cold and delicious, cucumber roll(not so great that was a mix of raw fish and imitation crab). We moved on to eel rolls that was pretty good, and the Ichiban roll that was unusual. The Ichiban drizzle tasted like burnt ketchup. One of the best part of the meal was the garlic edamame. That was actually free with Unilocal check-in. That was really really tasty! The service was very good and attentive. It was awfully slow that afternoon. Seemed we were the only customers. It was a decent sushi call experience overall.

Very friendly staff… good music… and nice selection of various rolls. I ordered a Shrimp Tempura Roll and some Chicken Karage. The Shrimp Tempura Roll was just ok. The issue was texture. Im used to the rolls being crispy from the tempura and the crunchy snap of the cucumber. This roll lacked both as the cucumber was so thin and limp. The tempura was not crunchy crispy. The Chicken Karage was better but still just ok. Not a repeat customer

This is my new favorite sushi place. First off, the ombiance of the restaurant is very relaxed and modern, which is enjoyable when you’re on a date or coming in after work. I ordered the shrimp tempura and the ramen soup(spicy) with pork added for $ 1 extra. My boyfriend also ordered the soup, as well as the sushi combo, which came with salad and miso soup. Well the sushi combo was presented beatifully and was fresh. Each roll consisted of a different fish, some tasty, some… different. Shrimp tempura was delicious but I think that about any sushi place I go to, so keep that in mind. As for our ramen, well it was okay. Nothing special. I found myself adding soy sauce to my broth because it lacked some depth and flavor. However, the pork that was added was tender and delicious. But to be honest, the miso soup was more flavorful than the ramen bowl. Also, we got some complimentary rolls that consisted of avacado, crab, and this tasty sauce. THOSEROLLS were good. In all, I would say the sushi is the better choice here… after all it is a sushi restaurant. ***great service too, might I add.

Was in Long Beach today and craving sushi so I found this place on Unilocal.I came during happy hour so everything was 20% off. The sushi was delicious, service was great and everything was top notch. Nothing really to complain about. Also got free gyoza thanks to a Unilocal check in! I highly recommend this place if you are in Long Beach.

Great and fresh sushi! Superior to any I have gone to in a while. That is saying a lot but wouldn’t any sushi lover agree when I Mention that their Uni is divine. The presentation and portion of their sashimi and their rolls are soooo good… Mouth waters. The Unilocal check in hooked us up on a free spicy garlic edamame. Spicy and really good because it came out piping hot. The thing that separates Ren Sushi is their service and quality of food. The yakisoba tasted authentic and we devoured that in mere seconds. I wanted to order more Uni but I have to be disciplined. I cannot wait to go back when I’m in Long Beach again. Parking was easy, restrooms clean, TVs yes, sushi bar yes, booth seating yes, going on a Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm YES!!!

Overpriced for what it is. Happy hour was 20% on weekday. Not worth it. Got a cucumber special roll and it came out to $ 12 still. Plus tip = $ 14. And the roll itself had imitation crab with small pieces of other fish… Which most cucumber rolls do not do. Fish tasted like nothing. The cucumber was also poorly wrapped around the fish and so the roll fell apart very easily. And it was so small for the price. For the size and price I expected better quality but that was not there as well. Very disappointing. Slow service even when no one was around.
