Island Reggae Festival The line up for 2015 was on-point. I bought us the VIP tickets for $ 95 each and it includes VIP line at entrance, Exclusive access to VIP lounge, Private cash bar including 2 drink tickets(tabbed wristbands). ARRIVAL. The event is very organized, parking is additional $ 20, entrance lines went by quickly(where the heck was the VIP entrance because it felt like the regular line). Access to regular area and VIP lounge all night. In the regular area, lots of people sitting on blankets in the shade and drinking and eating. Yes, it kind of looks empty but that place will be a sardine fest when the sun sets and the weather cools down. VIPACCESS. Up close and personal with the artists. VIP area was sectioned off giving us uncrowded access in front of the masses, own bar + 2 free drinks, own bathroom area, shaded area with seats, etc. I’d do VIP access again next year. THEMUSIC. I can’t even describe how island reggae makes me feel, it gets to me in a very good way. Kimie Miner was awesome and Common Kings was a live hit. The crowd got crazy after 6pm. I do wish the line up was ordered differently because it was like«ooh i love this artists» to «who is this group» back to «finally someone i know again» to «and now who is this random group singing». Overall, love the music + love the crowd + love the company. Until the next review…

I am giving one star for one reason… excessive cursing beyond what even makes sense. Shoreline jam itself was great. It’s smaller sized fest which is a great alternative to massive ones like Coachella. The vibe was excellent, the people were cool. EXCEPT for the complete morons who MC’d. Why am I angry? I brought my 11 and 14 year olds to the show(There were a lot of kids there). The MC idiots dropped the F bomb at least once per sentence. They actually weren’t even saying anything! «Long Beach let me effin hear you!» OVER and OVER. Not everyone is from Long Beach! But if this is how you want to represent… I’ll drive right on by. I was looking around and a fair amount of people seemed uncomfortable with this behavior. Everytime one of the INCREDIBLE bands finished it was back to the low road. Come on fools! Learn how to speak without sounding like a complete idiot. Shoreline Jam and Queen Mary, please do not let these guys out there again. Unfortunately I can’t come back next year.

This is one of the best waterfront music festivals of the year. I’ve been for four years in a row and it just keeps getting better year-after-year. Admission to the event usually includes free admission to The Queen Mary, as well, so it’s a great value. Where else can you get a full day of live music on the water plus a free attraction for under $ 50 for GA? I highly recommend Shoreline Jam!
