Mom(age 96) fell at home. EMTs brought her to Memorial Hospital a little after 7pm. It is now after 11:30. Still on gurney in hall. No doctor, xray or pain med, on her back(which would hurt in that position even if nothing broken) and EMTs still have to wait until she is in room. So they are wasting g good service time sitting here for hours while she is laying in pain for hours. This is ridiculous and disgusting. And they say will possibly be a few more hours yet be for they have a bed in the ER, let alone in a room.

I’ve been coming to the hospitals cafeteria for probably 4 or 5 years now a couple times a week. A stretch of lazy days turned into a couple of years. There’s really only a few reasons you’re going to come to this cafeteria: if you work at the hospital, if you’re a patient, or if you’re a patients family member. And I can honestly say for what it is and for hospital food this is an amazing cafeteria to eat at. Some of the food here tastes better than regular food at dedicated restaurants and cafes where their whole business is making food. The price is utterly unbeatable, most of everything there is $ 2-$ 5 which is great for someone who is going to stay a week or two because you can eat for relatively cheap at every meal. And with their new good life program they’ve really tried to incorporate healthy with delicious at the same time. The service depends on who you work with. You gotta remember this is inside a corporate hospital and except for the few breaks it’s closed they’re open pretty much 24 hours a day which means the employees are probably understaffed and underpaid and overworked. I think they do a great job considering I’ve never really had a bad experience with service they’re always kind and helpful. Sometimes they may appear abrasive but think about the people they’re serving. The rest of the review I’m just gonna go over tips for each food. Everything else is self explanatory. They have a seating area with TV almost always playing news or sports though. They accept debit or cash only, no credit cards. FRENCHFRIES Normally they’re very good for fries and even better because they’re not deep fried anymore, they’re baked. Some people complain about the fries being stale and cold but they’re always nice about it you can ask them if the fries are fresh and you can even try them depending who is there. If they need to make them it’s about 10 minutes. SOUPOFTHEDAY I honestly love their soups. Most of the time they even have onion in them and I still like them. They have a different soup of the day and they rotate them around once a week. For $ 1.80 it’s one of the best things to get there. However, reviewers are right the soups can be really hot, watch out. Could take like 10 – 20 minutes to cool down. PIZZA Their pizza doesn’t look like much, I don’t like pizza that much but it packs a punch and could easily be a contender for a real pizza joint. Has a lot of flavor in it and the right consistency of cheese to sauce, cheese doesn’t get too melted and the crust is normally soft. Sometimes not as fresh cause no one has picked it up just wait for a fresh pie to come out. The pizza container is keeping the pizza warm and can be really hot watch out for that. BREAKFASTBURRITOS Can either choose from a bacon burrito or sausage or their nice and give you both. Bacon is normally the better one though. They give you cheese, eggs, hash browns and your choice of meat. Probably the best breakfast burrito you could hope for and its easily their best item. They only serve it from 10:30PM to 9:30AM. BANANABREAD Only served sometimes, the staff will make up fresh banana bread. Sometimes it’s softer than others and sometimes you get more than less but you could easily get a piece for under $ 1. Most of the time it’s very tasty. COOKIES Check for softness before you get them sometimes they can be left out too long and hard as a rock but they’re always making more and will have soft ones out there. I love chocolate but I think they’re chocolate chip is too chocolate-y and they’re white chocolate is okay, not worth it to me. They’re best ones are peanut butter cookies. 3 in a pack and less than $ 2 for them. ENTREEOFTHEDAY Each day they’ll have set breakfast items and then lunch and dinner they’ll have a certain entrée you can select from. Hot food without ordering and having to wait for your food to be made. Normally very good, the rice is hit or miss though. But watch your portion size you can’t just plop a whole plate on their they’ll charge you for double unless they’re nice but they could get in trouble. One scoop and one piece is one serving. COLDFOOD They’re cold food selection isn’t as good if you ask me. Tons of times I’ve gotten the pre-packaged sandwiches, they’re good but you’d probably be better off just ordering a hamburger, I think the sandwiches are over priced running in at almost $ 4 with an ingredient list like they’re trying to write an essay, no Bueno. They’re chocolate pudding is okay and the parfait is okay but not a fan and to me not worth the price, almost $ 2. The premade salads I think are gross and partly unnecessary since they have a salad bar 10 ft away.

Hospital Food! Hospital Food? … I know, right? HI-LITES — Pepperoni Pizza was great! the sauce had some oomph(kind of like Round Table), the crust lusciously soft, fluffy and comforting with a satisfying springiness. really enjoyed it. $ 2.25 — Mediterranean Veggie Pita was delicious with a nice soft chewy pita that doesn’t fall apart on contact from veggie juices and tzatziki. feta on top. not skimpy, either. $ 3.99 — all for pretty cheap! LO-LITES when a second cashier opened up her line, she called the guy over who had gotten in line last. in sum, for what it is, it’s fantastic. if i lived closer, i’d want to frequent it like any other restaurant, except that it’s kind of a pain to park.

Disgusting dried up cafeteria food! French fries are baked and cold. Really vile. On weekends, there was crusty old beef stew sitting in a steam table next to pale squishy things that may have once been vegetables. I couldn’t really tell though, as they had lost all color and form. Stick with the prepackaged yogurt, since they can’t ruin that. Better yet, bring your own food, because whatever this is, edible it ain’t. And the tables are dirty, the booths torn. Like some nasty diner with 1980s décor. It’s called the Plush Pantry but I am thinking more the Puke Palace.

3 stars overall and 5 stars for the 2 items listed I’ve worked at Long Beach Memorial for 10 years and it dawned on me ‘I wonder if the cafeteria is on Unilocal’ … And here it was! Overall I don’t think the cafeteria is any different from any other cafeteria that exists but they do 2 things very very well and if you do not know about them it is my civic duty to tell you: The breakfast burritos — they are cheesy greasy and have potatoes and you can get bacon in it. What more do you really want from a burrito? and you can split one with a friend cause they’re pretty big. And The banana bread(not there 100% of the time, contributing to its allure) it’s the right amount of moist and right amount of banana-y I haven’t met anyone who is a banana bread fan and doesn’t like it. If banana bread is not your thing it may or may not convert you. Apologies I do not remember the price but one slice does come out less than $ 1

If your eating here your either on shift or you’re not too happy to be here . The food here at long beach memorial is actually pretty good and they have a wide variety of hot and cold selections. They also have a good selection of cereals, cookies, chips and other Deserts and snacks . The grill offers menu items such as Turkey melts, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, and much more. They also have items such as hot soup, delicious pizza and fresh salad bar by the pound . As for drinks they carry your typical fair such as coke and Pepsi as well as their respective offsprings. They also have a water fountain available so if you’re drinking water make sure to grab a cup with ice from the fountain drink area and fill your cup as they don’t charge for ice cups. So if you’re ever hungry while visiting lb memorial make sure to give the café a Try.

Had to spend three days at Long Beach Memorial because my son was ill their cafeteria employees are very helpful the food is not bad either it is a little overpriced but hey what can you expect it is a hospital. But just the simple fact that everybody says please and thank you and have a hope you have a very nice day is great

Great little place. My son is admitted right next door in Miller Childrens Hospital and i come here for breakfast and take it to our room. Food is good and prices are super reasonable. This place is much better than the hospital cafeteria. The only thing thats good from the cafeteria is the patty melt. Everything i tried here at seaside café was great.

3 stars means I like it — I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if you are stuck in this building, it’s affordable, tasty & has healthy selections. There’s no need to leave the building, everything you need is here! Past the knives, forks and napkin station is a station with giant rolls of cling wrap so you can secure your meal and take it upstairs to the patient’s room. Vegetarian selections are prominent.

Hospital food has a tough reputation of being terrible, but Long Beach Memorial’s cafeteria provides a hearty tasty breakfast to start your day. I have tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but breakfast is what you’d want here. Pancakes, French toast, eggs, you name it they have it. Stay away from dinner… The fall into the stereotype.

Pretty darn good for cafeteria food! With pretty darn good prices for what you get! Upon entering you’ll notice the huge pizzas on the left: ~ Cheese pizza slice for only $ 1.50 ~ Pepperoni Slice for $ 2.25. Next to it, the Soup of the Day Section — 8, 12, and 18oz cups. Cheap, all under $ 2.40. They’ve got various coffees to choose from, fountain drinks, milk, etc. Not to mention the cereal boxes. There’s a salad and fruit bar, and a lunch menu from the off the ‘Grill’ section. Today the Grill offered: ~ Pork Chop in tomato sauce, $ 4.50 ~ Red Potatoes, $ 1.25 ~ Baby Carrots, $ 1.25. I had a Tuna Melt(choice of white, wheat, or sour dough bread) Only $ 3.50 — This sandwich probably had a whole can of tuna in it. It was hot, soft, and the bread was buttery toasty on the outside!!! The cheese wasn’t real though, but no biggie. It also had a side of lettuce, tomato, pickle slices, and onion. Well worth the price, and it filled me up! Turkey Vegetables Soup of the Day, 12oz, only $ 1.80 — Really hardy with big chunks of real turkey. Not overly salty as well. Just right! Not the best, but still good! Total: $ 5.30 The dining area itself was decent, but kind of 80s/90s looking. But then again, this hospital already spent a lot on what’s more important to improve. So again, no biggie.

For hospital cafeteria food, this place isn’t bad. They pour Starbucks coffee, have a handmade sandwich station, a specialty food station, pizza, and a grill that that prepares food to order. It’s nothing gourmet, but it’s good enough to get the job done. On top of that, they are pretty much open 24 hours. I think they close from 3am to 6am and they close briefly between breakfast and dinner. Prices are also very reasonable. Grill items run between $ 3-$ 5.

I’ve worked across the street from Memorial for four years and have eaten at this cafeteria almost every day. Its great, freshly made, and«health savvy»(you will find only«diet» sodas, slightly altered recipes, etc) food for a great price. I’m a huge fan of the soup of the day. About 40% of our office staff eats there. Considering its«hospital food» its pretty awesome.

I was visiting a patient and ate several times in the cafeteria here at LBMH cafeteria. The selection that they had displayed was enticing. Showing the calories/heart healthy was very healthful in selecting my menu items.(Changed my mind after learning this upon arriving at the cafeteria) The food was good, even the veggie sticks. I noticed the savings because the hospital prepares the celery, carrot sticks etc. in a plastic cup like container to save on cost from being the middle man otherwise. I was pleased with the cost of the food I ordered. Would not mind returning here again…

It’s ok, as far has hospital food goes. What’s terribly annoying is that they’re cash only. Seriously??? Breakfast doesn’t start until 630, which sucks if I want to pick up something before my shift starts =/

Ive been in and out of this place over a dozen times in the last 2 months(major family drama with hospital visits, I will explain to my fellow Unilocalers later!) The food isn’t bad, its ok. They have great desserts. Especially the german chocolate cake and the carrot cake. However, the soups and salads are just ok. Not the best, but overall not a bad place Plus they are open late! A ok in my book

The culinary hot spot of the Long Beach Medical community. Though the food isn’t exactly high brow, what you get is exactly what you’d expect from a hospital cafeteria: Quick, easy, convenient, and actually tastes pretty decent too. The chicken fingers were simple and dry, but adequate; the chili cheese fries were filling and stuck to your bones, despite an unseasoned finish. On the low end, there’s the pudding parfait — it’s solidly stuck in between between«bad» and«meh» on the taste scale — it was simply overwhelmed by whipped cream. As a high note, the breakfast burrito was simply what the doctor ordered(pun intended. har!). It was delicious, cheap, and expertly executed. If it’s available when you visit, it’s absolutely s highlight of the menu.
