Service: Nice, welcoming. Pizza: plain, not really flavorful Pasta, chicken parm was also plain with plain cheese melted over it. It concerned me that it came out only five minutes after I ordered. Garlic bread was the most disappointing, couldn’t taste the garlic. Overall, nice establishment but the food lacks flavor and cheap quality.

Pasta and sandwiches here are pretty average, but you definitely cannot beat the price for this type of quality. Instead of paying more at Subway’s for their sandwiches, pay less for more and better quality of sandwiches here. And I’ll also put a warning out there… their cookies are crack cookies! Try at your own risk because you will be wanting more and drive 20 – 30 minutes just to get these delicious cookies.

This local spot of CSULB students is great! Now open on weekends! The pizza is good. Lot of choices and other items to choose from as well. I mainly eat the pizza and cookies here so I’m not sure about the other items. But friends have told me it was good also. The price is very affordable. Actually great for the location and quality. A definite must for students on a budget or people that want great food for very affordable prices. Great cookies! Amazing thick and hefty cookies. On a diet? Stay away from this place or get a salad but don’t look at the damn cookies!!! SOOOOOO good!!! I love sweets and I purposely don’t come here knowing that I seriously get diabetes if I eat here often. Come with friends. lots of room for parties and families. A very family oriented environment next to little shops and a comic book store I believe(hopefully it’s still there!) The parking is shared with other stores in the lot. Lots of space if you can’t find one close to the restaurant. Could be busy at times but never seen it were you are waiting for a place to sit. I like the décor on the wall also. Great service. A must if you are in the area and have a hankering for some good affordable pizza with some diet crushing super dense cookies that you’ll want to take home for later.

Barely found this place after being at CSULB for way over a year, and it was surprisingly very good! For the price, it is definitely worth it. I don’t think you’d be able to get as tasty of a spaghetti and meatballs anywhere else for $ 6. I couldn’t give the last star, because I wasn’t a big fan of the garlic bread. Other than that, I’ll definitely be coming back during my lunch breaks from school. OH, and it’s cash only!

The folks here are really nice and friendly. All the staff I made eye contact with greeted me with a friendly smile. I’ve never had that kind of experience any where else before. It was really pleasant. A quick friendly smile goes a long way(so smile more Unilocalers! =) Prices are cheap the food is tasty enough, definitely not mind blowing but keep in mind that you’re paying a lot less than other places. Ordered a large pizza with the works and one of their pasta dishes and it came out to be about $ 20. Toppings were generous. Sweet. This isn’t a restaurant I’d drive out of the way for or crave but I do regret not trying out their cookies. That I might come back for. This place was packed on a Thursday evening but service was efficient and organized. Looks like they have a healthy following and business is good. CASHONLY. I usually don’t frequent places that employ the cash only policy only because I usually never carry cash but I did appreciate that the person who took my phone order informed me that they only accept cash.

Awesome place for some quick Italian food! It was delicious! The area is cute and prices are very affordable for the amount they give. Not only are they generous with their amount, their food was top notch for an area you could quickly look over. Only bad thing is you have to somewhat be lucky with parking. Other than that, it was a good place to eat. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

Really good pizza! Can’t complain that the prices are unbelievable cheap. Came here during lunch time and ordered a medium pepperoni pizza with 2 can drinks. The pizza was delicious and I like that the cheese didn’t fall off the bread. I only wish that the pizza was a fluffy kind. Overall, the guys were nice and you can tell that they have a lot of regulars stopping in whether it’s family or college students. Also make sure to try out there cookies that are stuffed with chocolate, peanut butter or coconut. For only .65 a cookie; I tried the chocolate chip cookie with chocolate inside which was good for dessert :)

Great daily specials, averaging about $ 5-$ 10 per person. The pizzas are thick, loaded with toppings, and two slices will fill you up. I tend to be one of those people that skip on the crust to be able to eat another slice, but even the crust was so delicious I couldn’t pass it up. Great prices, great flavor and quality piazza!

Deli News Pizza is a savior for poor college students everywhere. This pizza joint places affordability at the forefront, but does so without compensating on taste! —-The Food — - 12 inch small pizza with 1 topping($ 4.99) — GETTHIS. Super cheesy, gooey, goodness of a pie! Generously covered in mozzarella and pepperoni, it’s quality that goes unmatched, especially for $ 5. Comparing it to Lil’ Caesars cardboard tasting pizzas would be a crime. Meatball Small 7inch sub($ 3.45) — GETTHIS. These meatballs are handmade, smothered in flavorful marinara sauce then sprinkled with mozzarella cheese. Better and cheaper than Subway. Chicken Parmesan 7inch sub($ 3.45) — A-OK. Large sized, breaded chicken that’s covered in marinara and mozzarella cheese. I admit the breaded chicken has a frozen quality to it, but I feel it’s more worthwhile than subway’s chicken parm. Cookies($ 0.60) — MUSTTRY! These unique cookies come in flavors of chocolate chip, peanut butter, and coconut. They’re delectably soft and filled with their respective flavors. Amazing! —- Conclusion: Had I known about this spot during my undergrad days, maybe I wouldn’t have been as hungry and stressed financially! Lol Although their quality for each item could be better, the price is right! When I’m in Long Beach I make it a point to come here for a quick bite and for their incredible cookies. Extra Notes: –CASHONLY –Closed on Sundays –Check in on Unilocal to receive a free cookie –A very large affordable, italian menu boasting pasta, sandwiches, salads, pizza, and soup –Extremely friendly service –Parking can be a challenge – across from LA Fitness –Restrooms available

I’ve gone here since I was in middle school and even with the new owners this place is still pretty damn good. The pasta is cheap but it’s so good, especially for the CSULB students who can’t afford much. I always get the shrimp linguine with white garlic sauce, that’s my absolute favorite. Many of the other pastas are good as well and the pizza is delicious! Try it if you haven’t, you won’t be disappointed. Oh and pro tip: it’s CASHONLY!

Although the pizza here is decent, I decided to try something new on their menu. I ordered a chicken parmesan hot sub. Ok I must give them kudos for their very low prices which are a service to their community. However, the chicken pam taste as if it was breaded using shake –n– bake. The bread was not toasted like the typical chicken pam so it was totally mushy and the shake –n-bake breading absorbed all the marinara sauce. Uuugghh not a good combination. I must say the chicken it self was decent except for the breading. Obviously this place is NOT a true Italian restaurant. Honestly, I just couldn’t continue to eat this sub it was just plain DISGUSTING…(I think it could have been frozen chicken…0.o) Tip for Deli News: use an Italian breading, toast your roll before and after so when the chicken, sauce and cheese is on it dispite it being hot. The crust from the oven will keep the bread from absorbing too much marinara sauce. Gawd the WORSE chicken parmesan I have ever tasted. Why ruin a good thing by cutting corners. I don’t mind paying a little extra for QUALITY!

Parking: It can be a bit difficult to find parking when it’s busy, but it’s usually not too bad. Here’s a tip: park in the back and go through Trader Joe’s.(Step 2: shop at Trader Joe’s, because that place is bomb.) Place: Super comfortable mom & pop’s place. Order at the counter. They’ll bring your order to the table. The people are always friendly, even over the phone when you call in to order. I also saw a section with a few beer taps, but didn’t get a chance to try any(and I’m not sure if it was there when I was last here 2+ years ago). Price: Cheap!(in price, not quality) You can grab a well made pizza for $ 5 – 7(depending on size and toppings). Pasta dishes here are great too($ 5.50 for a spaghetti w/meatballs). Note: this place accepts cash only. Pfood: Love the food here! Pizza and pastas are always great and it doesn’t hurt that the prices are much lower than the Italian food you find elsewhere. One of the Unilocal reviews called the spaghetti w/meatballs«the best they’ve ever had,» which was kind of an exaggeration.(I’d rate it a 7/10, but definitely worth the $ 5.50.) I gotta try the lasagna and ravioli one of these days. I’ll be back, for certain!

My family found this place via Unilocal. It had great ratings and so we tried their pizza a couple times since our favorite pizza place was sold and changed names. I will say this about Deli News, it is a cash only place. Don’t bother showing up with a credit card. They don’t take it. Their pizza is terrific. Nice crust, not too thick and not super thin. It has a nice edge. They are generous with toppings which is really great. They use a decent amount of tomato sauce and cheese. They will accommodate your requests. Deli News also serves pasta, sandwiches and smoothies. The pasta is better than other places within a 2 – 3 mile radius. We tried the lasagna and found it very tasty. Parking is a bit of a pain but there is a lot over by the other side of Rite Aid and near Trader Joes that has more parking than the space fronting Stearns. Great for casual dinners out too. The staff is pretty good.

I remember this place from my childhood. I used to come here with my family. We’d eat dinner and I’d beg my parents to take me to the Comic book shop next door. Good times. I recently decided to make my long awaited comeback. I am no longer a child, I am a man with my own money. I can eat all the pizza I want and I can go next door and buy all of the toys and comics I man-child desires. At least, that was the plan. I showed up, ordered only to discover it was cash only. Now it really felt like I was in the 90s. I asked if they can put the order in while I run across the parking lot to get cash. The said no. It made me a bit upset, but I’m an adult. I understand why they would do that. Alright. I’m back. I have cash. I’m ready for pizza. Pizza gets to my table. All of the happy memories from my childhood come flooding back. The mural on the walls looks mostly the same. I almost let out a tear… Took my first bite… I came to the harsh realization that it wasn’t as good as I remembered it being. Could it be that I hyped this pizza up in my mind to a point where it could never compare? Or did it go down in quality? I don’t know. But I ate my lunch, and headed next door. The pizza wasn’t bad. It definitely passed and I can see why people still enjoy this place. It might be nostalgia, it might be convenience. But People like this place for a reason, and I respect that. But If you’re looking for the best pizza in town, this place isn’t it. Now, If you were looking for the okayest pizza in town this place has what you’re looking for. Prices are average. Not expensive, but you can find better pizza that will cost you less elsewhere. Overall not a terrible dining experience, but I’m not sure when I’ll come back.

Awesome awesome place! Great food, great service, and some bomb cookies!!! Me and my boyfriend went here because we wanted to try some place new and some place good. We ordered the baked ziti, a Stromboli with ham and pineapple inside(you get to pick 2 toppings to put inside), and a cup of soup, and we definitely couldn’t pass up the cookies so we just got 2, one chocolate coconut and a regular chocolate chip. OMG!!! The ziti was so hot and fresh and cheesy!!! The Stromboli was really good as well with the marinara sauce it came with, and surprisingly the chicken noodle soup was great! Cookies were top notch and has made me so happy just after one bite! Service was excellent so we will definitely be back. Thank you Deli News for being awesome!

Once again Unilocalers, almost five stars? Please, where is the integrity in the Unilocal rating system? This place is all about cheap. Their pizza is passable, and the rest of the menu is garbage pail quality ‘merican,-eye-talian”. Again, value trumps quality. Welcome to Long Beach. Have had such bad experiences with this place, yet somehow they continue to thrive. They still use styro-foam takeout containers. cheap, un-green business practice. Cash only?! Hello FTB, IRS? Deli News? why is that name relevant? Sorry for the negative tone, but it bothers me that a place like this has almost 5 stars. WTF! There was a time when 4 – 5 stars meant something. This is one of those twilight zone places where it just makes no sense. I’m shaking my head in disbelief.

I pass by this place all the time and it’s always packed. I figured that it would be good. The pizza is really fresh and tastes homemade. It has a great flavor and they are generous with the cheese. The cookies at the front count are very good and pretty cheap. The pasta looks and smells good, but I haven’t tried it, yet. The service is OK – they could be a little bit friendlier. My only beef is they are cash only. With debit cards and ways to pay on your phone, who really carries cash anymore? They do have an ATM there, but if you want to avoid hefty fees, make sure you have enough cash on you.

Small hole in the wall joint that’s run by some of the nicest people in Long Beach! C A S H O N L Y! When I stepped foot into here yesterday for lunch I noticed only a few changes since going here 18 years ago… * They now have a small bar setup that serves beer & wine * The slightest menu price increase * Bench for waiting customers * 2 TVs Now what did I eat? Small Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza: $ 4.99 + $ 0.55 additional topping It’s a nice and thick pizza that’s got great chew. The sauce is tangy and the cheese is just right. The proteins got a nice crunchy edge to it. Overall I’m pleased. Linguini w/Chicken & Mushroom Sauce: $ 5.99 Note that all pasta dishes come with Garlic Bread which is excellent for scraping up all that extra sauce! So the linguini is a tad softer than al dente and smothered in this delicious white sauce. Sitting in the white sauce are a bunch of mushrooms and chunks of chicken. Add some red peppers and you’re ready to go! I will update my review because I’m now in the area again and will frequent this spot! Oh and don’t forget to grab a cookie on your way out — they’re BOMB! HOLLA!

My friends and I came here to eat an early dinner before the Long Beach Marathon on Sunday. There was ample parking in the back near Trader Joe’s. The tables were free for all. You order your food at the counter, they give you a number, and they’ll bring out the food when it ready. Bring cash, this is a cash only restaurant. I ordered their spaghetti and meatballs. I also had two bottles of water. *Spaghetti and Meatballs* It was a pretty decent portion and came with a garlic toast. The sauce and meatballs all tasted good. It was just as I had expected since this was a safe dish that you don’t except anywhere to screw up. I would’ve been a bit more adventurous with my food choice had there not been a marathon the next day. Overall, the food was good and reasonably priced but unfortunately it was a hot day(90+ degrees) and it was pretty hot sitting next to the window. With the heat and the delicious food, it attracted a bunch of flies. Despite the heat, everybody working there was very friendly.

I LOVED my experience here. Came to grub here as it was relatively close to CSULB while visiting some friends, and was blown away with how big their portion sizes are with cheap prices. I ordered a small pizza for 4.99 and it was HUGE. I packed half of it home and ate it multiple occasions afterwards(delicious even after being microwaved). I chose garlic for my free topping, and it had me wanting another slice even after I was full. Although they have cheap prices, they aren’t cheap with the quality of food as it tastes superb! Satisfied my pizza cravings~ Our friends ordered an XL and we were all gawking at the size. The table next to us even started talking about how great of a deal this place offers. Come hungry :) The service was friendly and quite accommodating. Although they close at 9:00, they don’t rush you out or anything. If you check in you get a free cookie. If I’m ever in Long Beach, I would love to come back.

Great service and clean area. It seems like a family own restaurant but they do a good job at keeping things nice and tidy. There’s always someone who cleans up the table right after the customers leave and they do it with a fast pace too. This was the first time I’ve tried this place because a friend recommended it and it was not a disappointment. I got the bacon Mac and cheese and it was really good. It had a little kick to the flavor since they do add jalapeño to the cheese(which they tell you on the menu) but I like the mild spicy so it made it even more enjoyable! My boyfriend got the shrimp fettuccine with garlic sauce which was also really good too! Drinks from the fountain are free refills but you would have to go up to the counter and ask for it. The best part about this place is the prices! It’s definitely unbeatable for pasta and pizza at a good portion that will fill you up. Unfortunately they do not sell pizza by slice, only whole pizzas, but there are different combinations and sizes you can choose from. It’s near by csulb so it’s great for college students on a budget if you want to go for some Italian food. Parking is not too bad either, but since it is in a plaza with various other shops it is a share lot so you may have to park a little further. I would come back again if I’m around the area. You would also get a free cookie with Unilocal check in!

I love Deli News! They serve up the freshest piping hot pizza for the cheapest price. Can you really beat $ 4.99 for a 12″ one topping pizza? The«small» size easily feeds 3, but I usually just split it with one other person. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better quality pizza for the same price. Little Caesar’s? 7 – 11? Not even close. There are other things on the menu of course, including pasta, salads, and sandwiches. I tried a pasta dish here once, and I felt that it was pretty average. The prices for other menu items are also exceedingly affordable, but don’t expect any frills. I don’t think I’ll be ordering anything other than the pizza from here, though! And how can I write a review for this place without mentioning those cookies? They are less than a dollar, but you can also get a free cookie with Unilocal check in. Out of the chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter, and coconut, I like the chocolate peanut butter the most. So ooey gooey and sinful! Really the only downside is that they only take cash. But it’s not much of a downside considering you’re getting cheap, quality food. Perfect for the starving CSULB student! Food: 4, Service: 5, Environment: 4, Price: 5

The chocolate chip and the chocolate peanut butter are my faves! And to top it off they are only $.69 each. They also have a Unilocal Check-in offer for a free cookie with $ 5 purchase. We’ve been back a couple other times to try some of the other things on the menu like the ravioli, fettucini, and the linguini with shrimp in garlic sauce. Everything here is a-ok. They have daily specials which are always a plus. Everytime I’ve come in the place it is packed, but everyone here is always friendly and helpful, trying their best to please their customers. Prices are really cheap, but remember they only take cash payment or BeachClub card(for CSULB students). I will definitely be back.

«This is so good, you can eat it off a bumper.» –Emeril Lagasse My buddy KH wanted to take me here before one of our walks. I asked her, «What’s good here?» She replied, «Everything. I still haven’t tried anything on the menu I haven’t liked, and I’ve never ordered the same thing twice.» Everything we had was definitely yummy! Everything is a great value with large portions in the $ 5 — $ 8 dollar range. This is the daily special for Tuesday. Creamy, and with a hint of heat, the Bacon Mac & Cheese will hit the spot: For $ 5.99 I can’t believe how much food they give you! For that price two fillings are included. I picked pepperoni and mushrooms: Stromboli up close: Both dishes were warm and flavorful. I forgot to post picture of the chocolate cookies we got. They are really unique in they seem to be lumps of fudge coated with cookie dough and baked to gooey perfection. Don’t forget to grab a cookie on your way out! I’d certainly come back! Deli News is Cash-Only, so come with cash in hand. And if you’re not prepared, like me, you can make a purchase at Trader Joe’s next door and get a little bit of cash back with your debit card.
