I used to go there all the time. I work for non profits where I get calls for donations and I always recommend them. It’s small with out all the fanfare and without the PR budget that bigger thrift stores have. I went by there recently and it’s closed. I felt so bad. I wonder if they moved somewhere else. Action Thrift Store on Woodruff and Alondra I think was a really great thrift store. It closed too. :(

It’s a few blocks from my house, so I schlep a sack of castoffs over here every month or two. Yes — the point of donation is to free up closet/shelf/floor space, but I can’t leave empty-handed. Ever. Great prices on books, $ 0.25 for paperbacks and a little more for hardcover. Cheap on everything else, too. Even the XXL plaid pants with a questionable brown stain over the crotch — not that you’d want ‘em. Personally I’d rather stain my clothes myself. This tiny shop is a haven for the wacky and weird. A while back, I bought a $ 0.10 tube of Avon Silicone Glove hand lotion from the ‘60s. Smelled just like grandma(yours, mine, and everyone else’s). I had to use it, just once. It gave me eczema. Very unsightly, all red and crusty between the fingers. I’m going to donate the lotion next time I visit. This is your warning. Don’t buy it. Minus a star because they’re never open when they ought to be.(Saturday afternoons? Huh?)
