Ripp off! Lying manager. Why did the manager try to ripp me off one lousy hour of check out time. He told me that check out was at 10 am. Yet everywhere on the damn internet and inside the rooms mind you says 11 am. What’s the deal with the ripp offs? I will be filing a ripp off report and. BBB fill g for false advertising g and price gouging Check put was told to be 10 am yet the menu in the room says 11 am. Lying manager unprofessional and advertises falsely and will price gouge u $ 20 extra dollars. False advertising. Some weird man lied to me about the rate. Will lie to I s well. Do not come here. Will try to charge u $ 70 for a room listed at $ 46. Stay away from this rat hole and weird price gouging individuals. Do not use. The internet Google price says $ 47. When you show the manager the advertised price he will lie to you with no explanation and not honor the advertised price which is false advertising.

Beautifully located on W Pacific Coast Highway, right outside of a bus stop and conveniently located across the street from a liquor store, this motel offers everything a pimp or a drug dealer could possibly need. When I first looked for a place to stay, I was really all about pricing. I was going to a friend’s wedding, and I didn’t want to sped a lot of money on a motel since I didn’t plan on hanging out in it. Well let me tell you my friends, I got exactly what I bargained for! Upon arrival, I was greeted by the owner through what appeared to be a bullet proof window in a check in «lobby» about the size of a hallway closet. I was traveling with my 11 year old daughter who kept asking me, «Mom, why do we have to stay here?» I insisted it was because I was a cheap ass and we would do something fun that weekend in addition to the wedding with all the money I was saving. The owner greeted me through the window the way a stranger who wasn’t expecting you at their door would, almost like, «Who the hell are you and why are you here?» He asked for my ID and credit card, which I passed through a slot under the window, kind of the like ones I’ve seen at the Sheriff’s department when I’ve renewed my business license. While waiting for what seemed like an eternity, I decided to read some of the interesting literature posted on the walls. One that really struck me was this list of rules maybe about 10 points long. I thought it strange to read that there was to be no cooking, no loud, boisterous behavior of any kind(isn’t that just a given?!) and no musical instruments. It also said no open alcoholic containers in «common areas.» I was unclear on where the common areas were, since the motel basically consisted of the parking lot, with about 5 rooms on one side, and 5 on the other, and exactly enough skinny little parking spaces for each room. Even more confusing was that I stayed in room 109, as if there were over 100 rooms there. Perhaps the most troubling rule was the«no narcotics or prostitution» at any time rule. This kind of made me ask myself the same question my child was asking earlier. My train of thought was quickly derailed when the owner came out and basically yelled at me that my card wasn’t working, then demanded that I go across the street to the liquor store to pay for the room in cash. He behaved as if I had purposefully tried to get out of paying for what he clearly felt was a 5 star motel in the hood, and I was not about to walk my child into a liquor store in Long Beach, California. She had been through enough in our brief time there. I decided to drive across town to the bank while the owner kept my ID. When I came back, he gave me back my ID, and told me three times that I couldn’t have anyone else in the room. Uh, ya guy, no shit. I was embarrassed enough that I was even dumb enough to give my credit card info over the internet to a place like this, why would I show the world how stupid I was by actually staying here? The first night there I understood the no prostitution rule. It’s not that I minded being awoken at 4am to a woman yelling mid coitus. I mean, it finally explained why the bed sounded and felt like a 500 pound man had been jumping up and down on it over and over. I’m sure she was getting paid for her services, and I can’t hate on a working woman, it’s rough our there and unemployment rates are super high right now, but I guess some people just don’t pay attention to rules now do they? Thankfully, my kid and I slept on our bath towels, just in case the sheets were as sanitary as the floor. Before we went to bed, we could not figure out why our feet kept sticking to the floor as we walked. I’m not sure what was on it, but that late night foot wash was as refreshing as it was necessary. Even walking outside in my town, on dirt and leaves didn’t leave my feet as black. We decided to wear our flip flops every time we walked into the room, which was an excellent choice. In the end, I decided to stop being such a cheap ass when I travel and really pony up the extra $ 20 per night for the 3 star motel. The fact that this one even earned 2 stars on Trip Adviser is beyond me. I only gave it 1 because of the price, but you really do get what you pay for and at least the WiFi was free. It’s not my intention to bring the business down, but any self respecting patron should know what they are getting themselves into, and opt to stay in a hotel where the owners take pride in their business and not just see it as a means to an end. One final note: The name of the motel is misleading. It is categorized as a «motel», so that should have been a huge clue, but the name is Beacon. The word is intended to conjure up attraction to their location and help navigators find it. But why would anyone in their right mind look for this location and intentionally stay here knowing what i now know? Heed my warning people; this place ain’t no Beacon after a long journey.
