I’d struck out at two other stores looking for my specific part # Rustoleum paint. I came here provided the number I had and they were able to locate it in minutes and have it ordered for me. They put in the extra effort and time to make sure a customers needs were met. Great experience, I’ll have to come up with more projects so I can make my way here again.

I have been shopping at Anderson Paint & Hardware for almost 27 years. Greg and his staff have always been helpful and have often found parts for me to use to fix my wheelchair. They have often matched the price at Walmart and other stores to make things fit into my budget. I consider them to be friends as well as business persons. I go there first when I have a need for a hardware item.

I’ve dealt with Anderson Paint & Hardware for over 16 years now. They offer friendly, personal service for your hardware needs. Especially good for apartments upkeep. The owner, Gregg, is a good guy, always with a story or two to tell!

I went to get light bulbs. I was trying to support local Business. I need light bulb for recess lights. the section looked sketchy. a lot of the lights had brown stains on them but I bought two light bulbs, when I got home one didn’t work. I walked back to the store with the receipt and they said we don’t carry this brand, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that someone switched the bulb in the store but the way they treated me like I was trying to rob their store I will never buy anything from then again.

Anderson Hardware is a great neighborhood hardware store. They carry products that most households need for repair. They will take the time and effort to special orders also. This family owned business is also a great community partner and leader. Helping so many Long Beach organization’s with projects and events. I wish there were 10 stars to rate them. They’re surly worth it!

I love owner-operated businesses! Anderson himself is always around, and he’s super friendly and helpful. I totally don’t agree that stuff is way overpriced — stuff we’ve bought, at least, has always been pretty similarly priced to buying it anywhere else, and sold with the extra fuzzy feelings you get from supporting a local business. I just can’t give it 5 stars because what I do agree with on that one star review is, it is pretty small, and thus, expectedly, they don’t always have everything you want. They have all the major stuff, and *some* of the more obscure stuff, but by no means all of it. Also that, as mentioned, their hours aren’t always the most convenient(but that sort of makes sense, being that this is an owner-operated business, and Anderson probably doesn’t want to hang around his shop all night or all weekend any more than I would.) Extra bonus points: unlike a lot of businesses in downtown LB, Anderson actually has a parking lot, and it’s never full, so if you’re buying big things, you can drive there and know that you can park right outside to pick the stuff up.(We live around the corner, so that usually doesn’t matter, but it is moderately unusual for the area.)

A tiny store with very limited stock. I was a good customer for years until they screwed up my order, and the owner cheated me out of $ 85 worth of paint that I purchased. They did a horrible paint color match and he wouldn’t return my money! Anderson is way Overpriced compared to other hardware stores! Sometimes double. Call around if you don’t believe it. Verify Anderson’s high prices or you will be a sucker. Sales people here are barely knowledgeable, and returns are difficult, so you mustn’t make a buying mistake. I made the mistake of patronizing this greedy, unfriendly merchant. No wonder there are hardly any customers inside, and it is closed a lot. Most family businesses treat customers like gold, but definitely not here. Hopefully they get bought out or something. They don’t deserve to be in business. Fortunately, there is another Hardware store a few blocks away with courteous service at fair prices. Oh MY!!! Looks like Gregg Anderson actually wrote a Unilocal Review for HISOWN store on 8 – 13. HAHA. HA!!! He uses the Unilocal pseudonym«A. Anderson,» but that doesn’t fool anyone. It is easily traceable. Nice!!! He posted impeccably staged photos of his store. I never saw the store look like that. Wow!!! He gave HIMSELF a 5 star rating too! How honest is that, to post a Unilocal rating on yourself? Unilocal readers expect unbiased reviews. HMM??? I wonder if Unilocal can be trusted here or if it got gamed by the other good reviews too? Need I say more here about Anderson Paint and Hardware?

I believe in great customer service and I think this is a great family owned business that realizes how important it is to have helpful customer service. The entire staff is friendly and helpful in finding whatever you are looking for or answering any questions you might have. It’s really hard to find that kind of service at those huge hardware places which make me feel so uneducated and uncomfortable. There should be more businesses like this one around.

This place is just around the corner from my condo, and has become an almost-weekly stop for me as we remodel the place. The staff is very friendly, and very accommodating. If they don’t have what you need, they will send you in the right direction. The only down side is that they aren’t open on Sundays. Other than that, it’s a great stop for your hardware needs. Plus, if you live anywhere downtown, you know how far of a trek it is to get to Home Depot. This is much closer, much more convenient, and much friendlier service.

OK so you might want to go to a large box kinda hardware joint like OSH or Home Depot. Maybe even Lowes. That’s cool. But when you just want to get something simple, get in… get out without having to run the gauntlet of gorgeous appliances, home décor or a lot of plants, this is one of the last hold-puts of the family hardware business. OG like that. The place is small and welcoming… kinda like the hardware store on an Andy Griffith set. They carry the basics; nails, screws, simple gadgets, paint and simple hardware. There are usually two workers in the store, not a gang of folks putting their fingers in their ears, saying«la la la la» when you a question about your project. You can get expert advice on what you need and if you are about to engage in a round of spring cleaning and painting, they can mix the paint to match it exactly the color of a potato chip. You don’t have to check yourself out or risk being hit by an errant forklift barreling down the aisle. Besides, have you checked out how high the merchandise is stacked above you in Home Depot? If you are in a Home Depot and you even remotely feel a quake… RUN! If not, you’re squashed like a bug.
