Disgrace for Mexican market, rude staff. Produce is spoiled at times and meat is old.

When I lived in Santa Ana, there were countless Mexican markets: Northgate Markets, El Metate and more. I’ve lived here in Wrong Beach for about 6 months now and drive by Amigo 5 Market everyday… I was recently convinced that I should start buying groceries, cooking, eating at my house, etc… My friend recently took me to Trader Joes where I bought some frozen meats and non-perishables like pastas, canned goods and more. I was committed to cooking a meal at my house but had no set date, so I had figured when the time was right, I’d head to a local market and pick up some fresh produce to go with my meal. Saturday was the day, so I headed out to the Amigo 5 Market… Walking in, you walk through these translucent vinyl curtains… it reminded me of going to Plowboys so many years ago. Oooh, flashback time ~~ this is going to be good… fresh produce & quality meats at great prices, so close to the house. Sadly, the Amigo 5 is no Plowboys… * Tiny neighborhood market * Produce selection was very limited and wasn’t as fresh as I had hoped(prices weren’t fantastic either). * Beer area is dominated by macrobrews(i.e.: Coors, Miller, Bud), I was hoping for some latin american stuff, at least a Famosa or a Cusqueña or something… * The meat counter was pretty sad. There was some good looking meat in it, but the entire store was abandoned… no customers and no butcher in sight. In fact, not many employees, so I don’t know what kinda turnover they have here :( Not good, not bad… Amigo 5 Market is just there…
