Great place for live music in the LBC. I go to punk shows here on the regular. Accurate up to date beer list posted on TV screens, and he gets rare craft beers in there! Fair prices for drinks and entrance. Everybody I’ve met that works there is polite and friendly, and this includes the bouncers! Keep up the good work Alex, Happy 16th anniversary!

didn’t care for the cover fee…$ 5. But it was worth it once the night burned on and the drinks got more and more. Even took a picture with a stranger in a photo booth… Wish I would have keep the picture. They got it. It was priceless… Hope to do it again.

Had one of my most memorable Halloween Nights. It was my first time at Alex’s Bar and the entertainment was Fart Barf and Jello Biafra. The place was electric and I had an outstanding time. Returned again and it was Karaōke Night. Pretty cool although I wish they would learn the New Singer/Old singer rotation. Instead of calling someone up for their 4th song it is good practice to rotate a new singer who has not sang in between the repeats. Just a suggestion. KJ was pleasant and the vibe was fun.

Parking is hard here. DONOT park in the autozone parking lot. «Consider your car gone» is what they said if you park there. You can park on the street on the opposite side, or you can find parking on the street. This is a good lounge to go to if you are in your late 20s or early 30s. People here are friendly. No creepers here. It’s not a clubbing atmosphere. It’s more of a bar to hang out. Casual attire. Overall pretty good place to hangout.

This place is rad! The atmosphere is cool. The music is great too. I recommend getting there early so you can get either a table or a spot at the bar because it gets crowded after 8:30/9pm. There’s plenty of parking too.

Color this girl lucky as all get out. I land in my new home and find the best bar in the world. If you could take the best of every bar in the world and roll it into one it would be Alex’s. Color me in love for life.

Had a great time, actually went for a friends restaurant pop-up [LB Cup Smile Ramen Bar] Mika served me the best ramen I ever had since falling in love with Okinawa Ramen. If words could describe the broth, light and seasoned well most importantly the broth did not overwhelm the dish. The noodles were tasty, and my OMFG moments were the pork belly fat & the egg, it was cooked soft boiled and done to perfection. Cannot wait until they have their next pop-up. While hanging out in Alex’s bar they had a great band, place was packed my 5 pints of beer were the 805 outstanding beer never made me feel full!

Was introduced to this place by a good friend– I can’t believe it took me so long to finally find it. I guess I’m not getting out like I used to. More on that later. So we caught this place on a Monday night, and it was fairly slow, I think it was trivia night, and the place was about 20% capacity. So my friend recommends one of their special cocktails. Named to commemorate a famous Indian Jones movie, this one is called«The Black Sleep of Kalimar» pronounced«Cali-Mah». Its a bourbon based concoction, with lemon oil flamed into it. Yeah, don’t usually go the flaming drinks, but this was special and delicious. High praise! No the bartender did not try to rip my beating heart out of my chest after serving it. But he looked like he might. Also, this place is famous for being the Fangtasia Bar in the series True Blood. Also known to be a great Punk rock music venue on weekends.

The RUNDOWN~~ Good venue for Rock and Roll to classic rock as well. The bands range from Hip-hop, Dj’s to old goodies from the Johnny Cash era and so on. Has a greaser/hip appeal for some nights and a rock n roll vibe other nights just depends on what event is playing that night. PEOPLE The people are cool, friendly I’ve been to a few different themed nights and there is always some cool people to talk with, not a place to meet, or ask a girl out from, typically, and hey it might happen but I wouldn’t count on it. I know my reviews are going to be bias on the whole«who you meet» but base it on a young man who is polite, kind and tries to show some charm and that is where I am getting my information for you guys and girls out there. The guys are cool you can talk to any number of bearded men here, haha, and clean shaven men as well. AMBIANCE The place is dark, with a rock theme to it, and the bathrooms are ok, not overly bad or dirty but enough to keep you happy to use it for a dump I think. The acoustics aren’t that bad but it can get loud, which can be good for some. The place is large enough for a few hundred people or so, but on the popular nights expect to pay around $ 10 – 15 to get in and it is crowded from foot — to — foot! Not my kind of nights. I drove the owners or some people to Alex’s bar once as an UBER or LYFT driver they were cool people, and I can see why this place is happening. ALEX’S BAR can only be entered from the back of the parking lot, which there is parking there usually but you can park on the street as well. Alex’s Bar… Maybe I can do a Martin’s Lounge?

Dive bars are my jam. I’ve been living in Lakewood/Long beach my whole life and just recently visited this place with a good friend. She raved about their Tuesday night beer prices. Definitely a top karaōke pick now. Awesome vibe. Just sheer fun! Hoping to make a return soon.

Reasons I love Alex’s Bar: 1) Established in 2000 in a part of town that no one would go(Anaheim St.), but succeeded in luring a wide range of folks! 2) Dedicated parking lot! 3) Eclectic décor — velvet paintings, crystal chandeliers, red walls, and a photo booth! 4) Bartenders are friendly and fast! 5) Music varies from ska to punk, rock, reggae, soul, and salsa! You can find DJs, bands, karaōke, and trivia nights. Way to mix it up! 6) Women’s restroom has painted art on the walls and fun mirrors 7) Mixed, fun crowd 8) Fair to cheap cover One reason not-so-much 1) Mirrors over the sink are hung too high! I can only see the top of my head while washing my hands :-(But can’t blame them for being a shorty.

I rolled up to this bar about forty five minutes before we were set to see Mac Sabbath and a few other bands play. At the start the bar was moderately crowded but once the show got to like, half an hour in the place was packed! Plenty of beers on tap and the bar tenders are quick and efficient. Not a lot of air conditioning so the place was pretty hot. The crowd was a modge podge of non-violent twenty-somethings and old men in leather pants. This is a great place to people watch! Or even just watch a movie. They were playing ‘American Psycho’ on the television behind the bar. There was also no where to sit. Perhaps I’ll come back on a different night to see how the bar can change between show nights and regular nights.

Great atmosphere and awesome music. This bar is very unique, every night… Is a different night at Alex’s bar! Different music, different scene. Good Foot night, usually on Fridays, is what caught my attention. Almost has a «club» feel to it. Good times. The bartenders are nice and attentive, they have more beers on tap that you can count… seriously and make a darn good whiskey sour! No food and there’s usually about 5 – 10 cover fee. Overall if your in the area, check out this bar out, I’ve had plenty of good times here.

I am absolutely in love with this bar. It’s spacious and the décor is right up my alley. I was definitely sold on the fact that True Blood filmed there(Fangtasia). I nerded out. The art in the girls bathroom is perfection. I would love to have one of the portraits as a tattoo. The drinks are a little pricey but they are delicious. They make a mean LA Water. Wednesdays are great as they have karaōke that starts at 10 pm. They have a wide selection of music. Everyone is chill there.

Few times in my life have I ever met bartenders as sweet as the team that I met tonight. Approachable and so very attentive. The décor was everything that I could have asked for: dark with a bit of macabre. Luchadores crying tears of manliness while there are Spanish portraits. I am so glad a bar like this exists. The most important part? The drinks were ridiculously delicious.

I really like this bar. I’ve come here for the skinhead reggae as well as karaōke night and a bunch of other nights too. The drinks are always well made, the beers are priced well(not super cheap, but reasonably!), and the crowd is actually decent. As another reviewer said, there are no hipsters here, which is awesome. The ladies bathrooms are also pretty well maintained, which is a lot better than at most bars where after 10 pm, they are trashed. On the downside, because this place is a great bar, it can get really crowded, but the place is pretty big overall, so there’s a lot of room to move around. Also, parking around here sucks. You have to park on the street, and if you come on a weekend, this might mean you have to park a couple of blocks away. Regardless, this is one of the better bars in Long Beach.

Like a punkrock Mexican Haunted Mansion, the only downside is how crowded it can get. As genuine and eclectic as Long Beach locals, the alter ego of True Blood’s Fangstasia is best experienced as a music venue, for karaōke, or for Dave’s delightfully nerdy, surprisingly tough, and fun trivia nights.(No, Dave, I do not know Alf’s middle name.)

If I owned a bar, it would be a lot like Alex’s: — Cool, dim interior with velvet Elvis portraits. — Great beer on tap. — Great bartenders who take their time to make their cocktails right. — Eclectic entertainment, e.g., pub quiz, live bands, karaōke, karaōke with live bands, good DJ’s. — Located in a walkable, urban neighborhood. Good DJ’s? I mean great DJ’s. Just last night Alex’s hosted The Secret Affair, a Northern Soul Dance Club. I’m getting all misty just thinking about it. Some more notes: — This place is definitely not just another hipster bar. I love that they have a great selection of beer on tap, and that it’s reasonably priced for today’s economy. Also, they still sell Oly if you go that way. — Outside food is welcome. They also serve free pizza on trivia night! Yes, you read that right. Line up early to get your slice. We’re all in this together. — Parking is pretty easy for trivia night(Mondays). I’m sure it’s trickier on weekends(haven’t been in a while). — Eclectic, non-douchey crowd. Thanks, Steph H., for introducing us to Alex’s. It’s definitely in my Bar Hall of Fame. What, don’t you have one? Bring back the Billy Dee sign!

Fellas night out and my friend highly recommended it. Convinced to the hype we checked it out and had a jolly time! I am glad they had a pool table because though I was vibing the music and company I wasn’t in the mood to go crazy and dance but I enjoyed the setup. Seating in the back if I just want to introvert out. Drinks were pretty good and ranged from cheap to semi-expensive. The live music was pleasing as well. Ambiance: * Parking | Street parking or plaza parking. * Seating | Seats can house about 30 people. No need for seats cause most of the time you are jamming to the live music. * Feels | As we entered, my eyes were caught to the far corner as there was a huge crowd screaming and dancing. The performers were charismatic and talented. Afraid of the semi-craziness happening we chilled at the back as we played a game of pool. They have a tv but they were playing silent movies. Customer Service: * Servers were cool and helpful. Overall: * 4.5 Stars. The entrance fee was about right and the vibes were good. A quality dive bar that provides all the fundamentals. I don’t usually go to dive bars but I do dig this place. Advice: * Straight up bar. No food, just jerky. =/ * $ 75 cents per game. the balls are duplicates. * $ 5 dollar entrance fee. * Photobooth provided if you want to capture the memories. * Not triangle for the pool table and there is duplicate ball.
