I had a Mai Tai while I waited for my food. I’m not sure but the drink seemed awfully small? But the price wasn’t.
The Kung Pao Chicken was the same old thing that you can get at any 100 other Chinese Restaurants. The place is big and very clean. The service was good. I wish I had better things to say. seen one seen them all. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.meah.

Very disappointing experience. First off, I don’t write many one-two star reviews. I really wanted the new restaurant to be better. The décor and layout is much better than previous ownership. I will say that much. I had one Mai tai and put in food order and watched the patriots game. I waited 30 mins for a rice and chicken order. So I ordered another Mai tai. After another Mai tai and no food I started to feel over served. I inquired about my food… The owner comes back and says: ‘sorry I forgot to put in your order’. What??? It was the reason I came in!!! The restaurant was empty and he was delegating tasks to employees and doing paperwork… The other thing; Their Mai tai was served from an milk jug that was in the sink where dishes were being washed. I asked him if he could make me a fresh one.(I was completely ignored). Workers spoke Chinese the whole time(it felt like they were gossiping about customers behind backs) Terrible service. Terrible communications and very asleep customer service. The restaurant is opened 3 months ago, they need more focus. We may see these guys on Bar Rescue soon…

I have been going to this place for over 20 years! It started out as several(5) other Chinese establishments before it settled. with its new name and new management. The restaurant was recently renovated and serves the freshest selection of food you can imagine! Most everything is made to order except if you take part in the buffet. This is also new to the restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, well stocked bar with very comfortable seating and just a great place to hang out. If it were a ten based scale they would get a 9 as no one is perfect. .but they definitely deserve 5+ based on this rating!!! Please give them a try as they strive to accommodate you if you have special requests or needs. Most places i have gone don’t treat you like family. They want to succeed and hope to find many loyal customers. A++

Freshest Chinese food. Did take-out for New Years. We’ll be back many times to come. Dining room is spotless. Very friendly staff.

This location first hosted the Maple Garden 20+ years ago, I think. They were okay. Several change-of-owners later the Dumpling Palace appeared, early in 2015. Great food, great dumplings, wonderful service. But, for some some obscure reason they closed just 6 – 7 months later. Shortly after that, Fen Yang appeared in its place. We’ve tried Fen Yang twice, and were disappointed both times. The General Gau’s chicken had very little sauce and was quite mediocre, with somewhat meager portions. The other dishes we had were excessively salty and probably loaded with MSG. On the second visit, when we had leftovers, they packed both meals into one box, one atop the other. These dishes were pretty different and didn’t really belong together. The service was fair the first time, and awful the second. For example, we were seated at 5:00 p.m. one evening, ordered an appetizer and our entrées. Twenty minutes later our scallion pancake(s) entrée appeared, at about the same time another couple was seated near us. They ordered and received their meals before we ever saw ours. In fact they finished and left a few minutes after we got our dinners. Prices are high for third-rate Chinese restaurant food(even when you use the coupons frequently seen in local flyers and coupon packets). I lived in NYC for several years and have eaten wonderful, authentic and inexpensive Chinese food. In comparison, the food served at Fen Yang is just awful in comparison. Your mileage may vary.

Fen Yang is not just a buffet. They have a lunch time buffet, but there’s a full menu of Chinese food that you can order with the typical items you would expect to see on the menu for both appetizers and main courses. They have a liquor license and full bar with many tropical cocktails available too. Food here is pretty good. It’s not the best in New England area, but it’s one of the best options in Southern New Hampshire. The egg rolls are great, Kung Pao Chicken is pretty good too, but was not as spicy as expected. Service here is attentive and they are pretty quick in the kitchen, too.

Best chinese in Londonderry area! The general gau’s is awesome and the scallion pancakes are very flavorful. Fried rice is light and not greasy, just right. Crab rangoons are also good. Have also tried the sushi and it’s good too. Highly recommend.

I literally downloaded the Unilocal app just leave a review for this place. They are easily the best place for Chinese food in the area. The ingredients they use always taste fresh and their dishes are full of flavor with out a ton of grease(unless you’ve ordered something fried, of course). Whenever my daughter(7yrs old) gets to have her choice on dinner, she wants their dumplings, specifically theirs. I am also a sucker for customer service and this place also totally wins in that department. They’re always smiling and grateful for your business and went so far as to completely renovate the place and broaden the menu offerings, based on customer feedback. A+ in my book.

Best ever Chinese restaurant to come to the Londonderry/Derry area! As an almost four decade resident of Londonderry I have seen many Chinese restaurants come and go. In the early years we had to go to Derry, Hudson, Salem, or further, for our ‘Chinese fix’. The best prior to Fen Yang was probably the Ginger Garden, a prior incarnation in the same to location. It was a solid performer with probably my favorite hot and sour soup ever. After a long run it was replaced by the Dumpling Palace for which I had great hopes dashed by very high prices and a mixed(disappointing) menu. I predicted it wouldn’t last three months. It didn’t This review is based on two experiences with the luncheon buffet and one take-out from the top of the menu. The opening month, August, saw a 30% off promo. The first day got off to a pretty good start though there were a few minor kinks to work out. The final Wednesday went very smoothly. The owner/manager is hands-on and very attentive, circulating about the tables inquiring about the food and drink. The staff are on their toes ready to refill your tea or water glass and remove used plates as needed. The buffet contains appetizers including crab Rangoon, egg rolls, Peking ravioli aka ‘pot stickers’, chicken wings and chicken fingers. The entres include a lo mein selection, a couple or three vegetarian selections, pork with vegetables and chicken with vegetables, General Gao’s chicken, Kung Pao chickent/pork, a tempura selection or two, a white fish selection lightly breaded with Szechuan or mild sweet&sour sauce, salt-and-pepper shrimp, and a clam or muscle selection. The Japanese side of the menu includes a selection of four or five sushi/sashimi rolls which I did not explore as they are not to my taste. Soup, hot and sour or egg drop is also included and there may be a desert on the Japanese table. The hot and and sour soup is refined and elegant with less meat broth flavor than some but with a delicate richness underlying the dish. Lovely. The appetizers are solid even though I prefer a more delicate wrapper on the ‘pot stickers’. The chicken wings are well done as are the egg rolls. The ‘First Rule of Buffets’ is go early as the tide of customers build, but not too early. The turnover is faster as the food is more quickly depleted. I try to hit the 11:45 to 12:15 and am prepared to stay until 1:00 or later. The food is very well prepared and the ingredients very fresh. That is the bad news. The good news is that some of their dishes soar to very great heights. The coating on the General Gao’s was light, crispy, not heavy armor as many restaurants serve it. The fish, delicately stir fried and coated in a light sauce. The lo mein is not oily, as many restaurants serve it. The beef/chicken with vegetables, spicy or not, are excellent representations of these dishes. The ‘spicy’ is not too spicy at all. The shrimp and clams/muscles are succulent, get them fresh and hot when they are the best. Few restaurants offer such fine fare in a buffet. In summary the buffet is a great luncheon experience at $ 8.95 with wide variety of quality dishes. The take-out order experience: Starting with the ‘standard’ I found sesame crispy beef to be perfectly executed — good size pieces of tasty beef, lightly coated in a crispy coating adorned with a tasty sauce typical for this dish and abundantly sprinkled with sesame seeds. The beef, accompanied by broccoli, is full-flavored and has a bit of dryness, as I have observed in the better renditions of this dish due, I believe, as part of the process to guarantee the most crispy coating, much as a duck undergoes drying to achieve the crispy skin. Leaving too much moisture in the beef causes juice seepage which makes the coating soggy. The serving, very generous, the price nicely competitive. Highly recommended. I had always been of two minds about trying soft-shell crab. This was the opportunity to try the Salt and Pepper Soft-Shell Crab. Prepared well, with the same coating as the Salt and Pepper Shrimp, I now know I do not care for it. I find no fault with the prep, just my taste for this version of crab. I selected the ‘House Specialty’, Shrimp Wine Garlic. It is dishes like this that distinguish the great Chinese eatery. A Cantonese style dish with a generous number of larger shrimp in a tasty delicate sauce with Chinese vegetables. Most Cantonese style dishes at other places define the terms blah and flavorless. This rendition soared to unbelievable height. I always wanted to try Peking Duck. I called a day early to order although they said it was unnecessary. It is not inexpensive but it was worth it in my opinion. As an entre it made two meals for each of two of us. Each container: two crispy legs, crispy skin, succulent sliced duck meat with julienned cucumber and scallions. Accompanied by several pancakes and hoisin. All wrapped up, it was sinfully succulent experience. Must do again.

Very disappointed with this place. It should have been a bad sign when we drove in and their parking lot was empty or when we walked in and the only people in there were the employees. Decided to give it a chance anyway and we shouldn’t have. They seemed annoyed that we came in and they had to do their jobs. It took the server awhile before she even came to our table to introduce herself and take our drink order. When she finally did come to our table it took her forever to come back with the drinks. While we waited I noticed that their was what looked like a very adult movie(not porno but close) on TV. Not really appropriate for public let alone families who could come in with young kids. Finally another waitress came out with our order. We ordered curry chicken which didn’t come with rice! It was extra. And the portion was so small. Also we got crab rangoons that were way over cooked and almost inedible. And then I got chicken teriyaki on a stick that was very chewy. Plus their tea wasn’t even that good. Most of our meal was in an empty restaurant but maybe about half way through eating 3 couples came in. The server never came by to check on us and generally didn’t seem to care. When we were done we waited forever for the check and then we got it and paid only to have to wait even longer bc our server disappeared. We got annoyed and gave our check to the other server who helped us. She finally brought it back like 20 mins later and she forgot to give me my card back. Needless to say she didn’t get a tip and we won’t be returning. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Don’t ever go there!

I went to it as the Ginger Garden from b4. The people that sat at the bar were the same, the bartender is the same. The restaurant itself is cleaner and host station has moved. The drinks are still good and strong and company good as well. I tried the sushi and enjoyed it. It is a good little place

Fen Yang Restaurant & Bar opened for business in early August 2015, formerly Dumpling Palace and Ginger Garden. Similar to its predecessors, this casual restaurant and bar serves up mostly Chinese dishes & items(including dumplings) and a few Japanese items such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, salads, gyoza, and shumai. The prices for most dishes here range from $ 8.95-$ 18.95. 25 Lunch Specials/Combos are offered here until 3pm served with choice of rice or noodles, choice of appetizer, and soup for $ 7.95 plus tax. Also they offer a Lunch Buffet for $ 8.95 plus tax, daily until 3pm. I stopped in for the Lunch Buffet recently. The 2 buffet stations(hot & cold bars) in the back area of the dining room offer over 20 items/dishes to choose from. Some of the items on the buffet during my visit included vegetable lo mein, fried rice, white rice, lobster sauce, egg rolls, crab rangoons, veg tempura, chicken fingers, chicken with string beans, chicken & mixed vegetables, mussels in black bean sauce, salt & pepper shrimp, kung pao chicken, General Gau’s chicken, fried pork dumplings, mixed vegetables, beef & mixed vegetables, chicken wings, chicken teriyaki stick, Chinese doughnuts, soup(hot & sour, egg drop), sushi, watermelon, pineapple chunks. I tried most of the items on the buffet. Some items were hot and other items were lukewarm and sitting out a while. Some of the dishes/items that I enjoyed were the mussels in black bean sauce, chicken fingers(fresh out of the deep fryer), egg rolls(cut in halves, so I don’t have to eat the whole thing), fried rice(peas, carrots, onions, pork), crab rangoons, California rolls, hot & sour soup(very hot). The vegetable tempura was greasy, but decent. The chicken teriyaki, fried pork dumplings, and vegetable lo mein(had canned mushroom slices) were lukewarm. The food for the most part was okay. The table service was prompt, staff clearing away used plates often, and acknowledged when new food was on the buffet. I was brought over the check and fortune cookie as I finished off the Chinese doughnut and fruit for dessert. The total check for One Adult Buffet and a Complementary Pot of Hot Tea was $ 9.76 with tax and before tip. Like the previous reviewer noted, I will probably try Fen Yang again, but I won’t be running back here. CREDITCARDMINIMUM: $ 10

Wow! How impressive! We went for lunch today about 1:30pm and the place was very full. The buffet goes until 3pm and was refreshed often. My father and grandmother had the buffet and we’re very impressed by the food. My mother and I are gluten free. When we first spoke to the waiter about it, he had no idea what we were talking about. We spoke with the manager and he knew exactly what we meant. They were able to make us general gao’s chicken because they only use cornstarch in the sauce. They also have gluten free soy sauce as well. When they brought out our food, the manager came back over and asked us not to eat it right away because he wanted to double check that it had been made in a gluten free way. He came back and gave us the all clear but he knew how important that it was that we had it gluten free. Everything was DELICIOUS and hot. The staff was very friendly, definitely authentic(so be patient because English is not the easiest language to learn). Their menu was extensive, the bar area has been expanded and they’re very accommodating for any special requests. Don’t miss out!

What a huge disappointment! Like Darren F. wrote, this is at least the 3rd time this spot has changed names. The one before Dumpling Palace was bad, Dumpling Palace was amazing and now this iteration is mediocre with some of the goodness the DP offered. For some reason Dumpling Palace changed it’s menu and name and remodeled. Some of the staff are the same but there are definitely a few new faces. We loved DP at first, then if felt like the chef changed somewhere along the way because the same dishes we ordered at first no longer tasted the same. The soup dumplings got tiny and tasted sweet, almost like they were store bought and not made on premises. We went back 2 weeks ago after the name changed to Fen Yang. A group of 8 of us ordered 3 kinds of dumplings, scallion pancakes, spicy tuna roll, soup dumplings, chicken and broccoli, shrimp lo mein, szechuan chili pork, beef chow fun, beef and bamboo shoots, and veggie pan fried noodles. One of my favorite dishes was the hotpot eggplant with garlic sauce. The waiter, who was there from DP, told me that they no longer offer that because«traditional Chinese cooking like that took too long.» I was stunned! Traditional, authentic Chinese is why we went there. The soup dumplings were really small and mine didn’t even have soup in it! The dumplings were good but again, the shape has changed – they used to be small but roundish and very juicy. Now, they’re longer and sort of dry. The scallion pancakes were on point. My husband wasn’t so fond of the spicy tuna roll; they weren’t anything extraordinary. Once our main courses were brought out, I was sort of surprised at how much the portions had shrunk. Everything was served on what looked to be smaller than a dinner plate. The Szechual chili pork dish is still done right, the pan fried noodles are what we like also. Chicken and broccoli was good as well. The lo mein and chow fun were bland. The original DP chow fun was aromatic with slivers of charred garlic. The beef and bamboo shoots were ok, but lacked flavor as well, it was sort of dry. All in all, we were quite disappointed in our visit. We might return here and there to try some other menu items but we’re generally not excited like we once were.

Undecided… Went with some friends and sampled a number of dishes. Tough to rate after the first visit because the previous place Dumpling Palace was so good. This new place has some of the same items like of course dumplings but it seems that they didnt just change the name they also are making apps smaller and lost that authentic favor everyone raved about when Dumpling Palace opened. One bright spot beside hanging with friends was the Szechuan chili pork… This dish almost makes up for them taking the Hot Pot Spicy Eggplant off the menu. Honestly, I am sure we will try Fen Yang again but will we run back like we did when this restaurant was Dumpling Palace… Probably not…

This spot rotates restaurants like a person changes underwear. The new Fen Yang replaces the great Dumpling Palace. The new owners certainly spruced it up by gutting some of the tables and repainting the entire inside. Props for that as the former place was pretty bad. The sushi was average, nothing to write home about. We also tried the veggie lo mein and General Gau chicken. They were both only ok. All in all, it’s just another generic Chinese place, but with few good ones in the area, you may enjoy it.
