I called it Horrible Harry’s. The owners treated their employees like slaves. The«home made» everything was bought at Smart and Final. Yay! They are GONE!

This place is closed for walk in dining, they only do catering so you have to call them. We just had them do a party for us and all the food was amazing, all the BBQ, beans, the amazing corn bread oh so good. So if you are looking for BBQ this is the place to order for your next party!!!

My husband and I dined here about two months ago, and it was worth four+ stars. Tonight, however, not so much. The owner was not present, and it was obvious. The service was AWFUL. We had to ask for things several times, and it was NOT busy. Our waiter, though nice, was not attentive. Another server had to ask us if we needed something because our waiter was gone for long stretches, and our dirty plates were stacking up on our table. The cornbread was not warm and the honey butter was rock hard. The food was just not the same tonight. I do not know if we will give it a third chance because we left quite disappointed. Honestly, it is unfortunate because I so want to always support small, local businesses and the people here are friendly.

The food here is prob the best BBQ I have found in all of Southern California! It’s a cute little hole in the wall place. Decorated in a very kitch southern grandma style. The staff was very friendly and really attentive for a Friday night! My boyfriend and I tried their BBQ buffet and were not disappointed. $ 20/person including drinks is amazing for BBQ. Their BBQ sauce was an amazing savory sweet. I couldn’t get enough. All the food was so tender, you didn’t even need a knife. They also had really great Mac n cheese as well as super moist corn bread with homemade honey butter. I will definitely come back and am actually super looking forward to trying their breakfast!

I liked the tri tip sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. The trip tip had a nice smoke on it and was tender. The pulled pork had more flavor and also had coleslaw on it. They have a lot of lunch and early bird specials here so I used one to get the second sandwich at 50% off. That made it an excellent deal. I also like the cornbread with the honey butter. Nice chunks of corn in it. The biscuit was light and fluffy and the sausage gravy was also good. I did not like the fried chicken special. The pieces were very small and a little dry. The corn on the cob was overcooked and the coleslaw had way too much mayo in it. The bbq sauce was good. Breakfast looked good here. Very traditional. They have a buffet with fresh cooked eggs to order. Service was excellent. Décor is kind of corny but cute.

I had not been to Harry’s since it first opened at least 5 – 6 years ago and wow has it changed inside. It went from barely being able to tell they served food inside to one of the best ambiances for a small restaurant I have seen. They really make you feel as if you are in your grandmas house eating some home cooking. The wife of the owner was our waitress and she was a pleasure to speak with. She was very friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations. Harry’s has peanuts in the shell at every table which were great to munch on. I had the hot link with garlic steak fries and corn bread with honey butter. Everything I ordered tasted great and that honey butter was too good ha. My friend and I shared the peach cobbler with ice cream since the owners wife said it was awesome and it was good. I cannot wait for the catering order I made for Labor Day weekend from Harry’s!

The standout aspect of this restaurant was THESERVICE, which was welcoming, proactive, accommodating and spot on from beginning to end. I had the Breakfast Buffet, which is $ 11.99 for«All You Can Eat» that ends at 1pm(for those who get a late jump start to their days and lag). The buffet was highlighted by fresh cooked to order items such as: Eggs(served the way you want ‘em) Waffles(fresh made n’ fluffy, not just sitting around) Fried Chicken Corn Fritter/Hushpuppy They ask you what you want and bring it out to you fresh cooked. Then, they have the self service buffet in the standard«keep ‘em warm/hot» steam trays featuring: Bacon — this was thick and somewhat crispy, and excellent, and I’d rank their bacon very highly compared to their breakfast serving peers — — and even more so also because it is all you can eat, whereas when you go to a restaurant and order an entrée with bacon you only get 2 – 3 slices. Ham — cut in nice triangle pieces, a bit dry(maybe because I came at 12:30 near the end of the buffet, so it could have been sitting there a while in the steam tray) but still good. Sausage — they looked plump and juicy, but due to the phallic nature of sausages by appearance, I often times refrain from eating ‘em. Sausage Link Medallion Slices — these are coin/disc shaped and seasoned with other stuff, so I tried ‘em and they were good. Hash Brown Potatoes — I opted for the other potato dish, but it appeared crisp. Home Country Styled Potatoes with — peppers and onions — I tend to like these since they’re not fried or crispy but rather fluffy and more substantial tasting than other potato counterparts. Pancakes — I’m a waffle guy, so didn’t try these, too many carbs for me to have both. Biscuits and Gravy — I didn’t try this ‘tho, I’m not a B&G guy. Grits — I didn’t try ‘em nor kiss ‘em(1970’s TV «Alice» reference RE: Flo) Banana Muffin — I tried this it was nice and moist Blueberry Muffin — Too full to try this, must come back to indulge :) Frosted Cinnamon Roll — This was good, a bit sweet but it’s supposed to be. They also provide a beverage included with the meal, be it coffee or orange juice — — and the OJ has FREEREFILLS too! I’ve not(yet) tried their BBQ food by their namesake, but due to the EXCELLENTSERVICE and initial first impression, this place warrants a revisit to try their other menu items. Oh… and they also have Fresh Peanuts in the Shell on the tables too! Parking is easy, there’s street parking as well as an adjacent parking lot. It’s a bit ways out of the way in the Torrance area, and city of Lomita, so in one breath, if it’s not your local neighborhood, it’s a bit a ways to travel to with nothing much else in the area… but for that very reason, it’s probably not too crowded, so there’s not a lot of waiting and crowds(when I was there it was near empty)

I’ll say a solid 7⁄10. Big portions and friendly staff. The BBQ was tender and tasty and if you are a sauce-a-phile like me, you would have found your mecca. I didn’t need to add any extra BBQ sauce to the ribs. Very rustic small place with a good atmosphere.

This place is totally underrated. The BBQ here is excellent. I’m a brisket guy(which they don’t serve), but their Tri-tip is so good I didn’t even mind! The meat was smoked perfectly, nice thick slices with a great smokey flavor. I’ve never had Oklahoma style BBQ sauce, but now that I’ve had it I can’t wait to have more! It’s got flavor without being too sweet or vinegary. It’s got a just right blend and has a slight kick to it. You got to try it, I simply can’t do it justice. The Mac & Cheese is flavorful, lots of cheese and the pasta is cooked right, slightly aldente. Lots of cheese makes this a nice side dish. Nw for the cornbread… WOW! Cornbread is the way I tell how good a BBQ place is and not only did Harry’s not disappoint, but theirs is truly one of the best cornbread’s I’ve ever had! It was light, fluffy, moist with good flavor. Many times cornbread leaves that dry bitter after taste in your mouth, but not Harry’s. Great corn taste in a moist slice of heaven. I hate when you go to spread the honey butter on and it falls apart, you’ve experienced that, right? Well not here, I can’t believe cornbread that is this moist and doesn’t fall apart! You’re probably telling yourself this all sounds great so far and you’re already convinced to go, but let me add one more incentive… they have great deals which make it very inexpensive to enjoy great BBQ! They have a ‘buy one sandwich, get another sandwich 50% off’. And a ‘buy one dinner, get another free with purchase of 2 beverages’. And on Friday & Saturdays, a BBQ buffet for only $ 16.99. That already the price of a normal BBQ plate, maybe. For that price here you not only can sample all the different cuts of BBQ meat and a wealth of side dishes, but you can go back again and again! I can’t wait until I’m out that way again and get my BBQ fix satisfied!

So I had heard about this place from my family but hadnt been yet. I had food from there that was brought to me, the beef ribs — which are amazing, but I was looking forward to sitting down and eating there. We ended up going there for mother’s day. I had the fried chicken with molases baked beans and mac & cheese. First the chicken. It looked a little dry but as soon as i bit into it it squirted my hand with juices. It was flavorfull and tender and yes VERYMOIST. Absolutely delicious. The Molases Baked Beans were perfectly cooked and sweet. I loved them. Last but definitely not least, the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve had before and I’ve had some good mac and cheese. It is a very small restaurant. I think I counted 25 chairs. I will definitely be going back for many more visits.

After my dining experience, I allowed time to pass to clear myself of emotions and bacteria. On the positive side, the service was very attentive. On the walls are numerous clippings raving the greatness of another of their locations. Unfortunately, that’s the end of positive. My server suggested I try the bbq buffet, which I did. To make it short, everything was cold. Advised the server, allowed plenty of time for them to correct the problem, second try was worse. I don’t mean not hot, I mean out of the fridge cold. Same drill, third try same thing. I surrendered to incompetence. Shortly after getting home, I now have a bad case of the squirts. As anyone in food service should know, 40 — 140 is the temp to keep food out of to curb bacteria growth. Writing this, I feel for the servers being at the mercy of a kitchen staff who either don’t know or don’t care to do their job correctly.

Most recently, I have been here for breakfast. I was a little skeptical at first to eat breakfast in a BBQ joint, but let me tell you, they know what they are doing here. I had eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, waffles, fried chicken, corn fritters, and grits. It was all on their brunch buffet and reasonably priced. The owner, John, greeted us and was very friendly. I have it on excellent authority from a friend of mine, who happens to be connoisseur of all things Southern, that the ribs and potato salad are out of this world! I can’t wait to come back for dinner and try them.

I’ve been to Harry’s BBQ quite a few times for lunch, but have seen they have an all-you-can-eat buffet on the weekends. I knew I had to check it out when I saw the price was only $ 16.95 per person. My husband and I each greatly enjoyed the food including tri-tip, beef ribs, chicken(BBQ and fried), mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, rice, beans, coleslaw, hot links, and desserts. When you arrive, you can let them know you’d like fried chicken as well as mac and cheese, and they cook it up while you choose the other items you’d like to have from the buffet. After filling yourself with dinner items, you also have the choice of desserts that are available at the buffet. There were some small servings of pecan pie and a smores dessert which were amazing. Our waitress asked us which dessert we wanted(choice of apple or peach cobbler or bread pudding). I had the peach cobbler and my husband had the bread pudding. We both left completely stuffed and truly enjoyed all of the items we tasted. My next visit will be their breakfast buffet. Everything sounds so good! If you love BBQ, head over to Harry’s before they come to their senses and realize they are giving dinner away at such an inexpensive price. Where else can you get all you can eat tri-tip or ribs for less than $ 20?

Went here to get some take out today. It was pretty good BBQ. It’s a little expensive for me for BBQ, but all the food tasted good. I had a bbq chicken sandwich, beer battered onion rings and sweet slaw. The chicken sandwich was good, lots of meat, lots of BBQ, on a sweet bun. Simple but good. The slaw was really good and the rings were good, not greasy at all. Over all a good place to go for dine in or take out BBQ. Prices are average to high for a BBQ place, $ 10 – 15 per person. The dine in side seems to be nice and small kind of seating, but looked pretty cool. I wil lgo here again for BBQ. The menu is basic BBQ stuff, lots to choose from, the breakfast looked good, i must try it some day.

First off, I have to confess that when I initially walked into Harry’s, heard the Kenny Chesney playing and saw the Blonde staff, my immeidate instinct was to turn around & run.(No judging… just keepin’ it real, folks!) But when I was greeted with such big smiles and warmth — not to mention the cozy«Grandma’s Kitchen» atmosphere, how could I allow narrow-mindedness and preconceived notions to win out? Besides, I had a hankerin’ for some Baby Backs that just wouldn’t quit! As it turned out, I got WAY more than I was craving and then some! The Waitress asked if I wanted to do the Buffet since it was going to be up for another 15 minutes or so. «Buffet…at a BBQ Joint?» I thought. So just out of pure curiosity I went to have a look, expecting to no doubt dismiss it upon viewing its dried up remains. Once again, my assumption was way off! On the contrary, everything — and I do mean — EVERYTHING looked yummy! The Mac & Cheese was calling out to me with its cheesy moistness, the plethora of Meats(Links, Ribs, Pulled Pork, Sliced Beef etc.) drenched in BBQ sauce begged to be sampled, and even the Fried Chicken(which I wasn’t even THINKING about) was tempting me with its Black Pepper-Speckled battered breast meat. It was at this point I looked at my Waitress and said, «Yes, please!» and for only $ 16.99, I felt like I was ripping THEM off! So, in a nutshell, if you haven’t been and you love BBQ, or Fried Chicken for that matter(which was STUPID-GOOD btw), Go! And, who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky and stumble across the best buffet this side of Tulsa!

How on earth does this place have only 3 stars? We had an early dinner there last night(although, I did not see ANY early bird specials on a Sunday evening), and everything was delicious. Because we were there before 5PM, there was no trouble for our table of 4 to be seated immediately in a cute little restaurant with oodles of kitchy Americana décor. There were peanuts on the table for shelling and enjoyment. We tasted quite a few things that Harry’s had to offer, and everything was good. Cornbread/Rolls — definitely the most disappointing dish of the evening. The cornbread was inconsistent — some pieces were dry — and it was really sweet. The rolls were standard white bread. Zzzzzzz. Fried Okra — a basket of ½″ long pieces of okra which were breaded and deep fried. AWESOME!!! Not woody or slimey, these were perfect little morsels of deep fried okra heaven. Served with blue cheese, I thought that they were really best dipped in the BBQ sauce. St. Louis/Baby Back Ribs — we had half a rack of each at our table. Because all of the meats are slow smoked to ensure ultimate tenderness and flavor, it is difficult to really discern between these two meats. I would say that the baby backs were incrementally more tender and the St. Louis had a bit more meat, but they were both delicious. You can definitely see the smokey flavor that turns these delicious ribs the perfect shade of pink. Pulled Pork — some of the best that I have ever had. About a cup and half of meat which was tender with no gristle and the perfect amount of fat, which meant for so much flavor. I absolutely loved the meat here. Baked Beans — a bit on the sweet side(they are molasses baked beans), so I added BBQ sauce to bring some spicy to the party. The beans had excellent texture — no grit and super tender. Creamy Slaw — this is another dish that I would have skipped. It was rather one dimensional, and was pretty gloopy from all of the mayo. Vinegary Slaw — AWESOME! Great tangy dressing tossed with your classic, but slightly thicker cut, cabbage/carrot mixture. Loved this. Sweet Potato Fries — also awesome. Nice and crispy and served piping hot. Mac and Cheese — considering that I am not really a fan, this was pretty good. The shell pasta was tossed in tons of über creamy cheese sauce. While the color was somewhat fluorescent, it was definitely freshly prepared. Our sweet server made sure that our drinks were always filled. She tried to entice us with dessert, but we were packed FULL of meat. I would love to find out that this place has an early bird special(our total was about $ 70 for 3 entrees, an app and an extra side of slaw) — more info please. Regardless, I am willing to pay for great BBQ — I have been to great joints all over the country, and Harry’s is among the best in So Cal(it and Johnny Reb’s get my vote).
