I generally hate the pharmacy here after a few good experiences, a few bad ones(losing my insurance info 3 times), and several awful ones(charging me double, declining the insurance I’ve used a hundred times over the past 9 years…). But, something magical happened on New Year’s Eve. There was a young man at the main checkout counter who was friendly, helpful, and funny. I was so confused, being accustomed to the dull-eyed, lifeless drones I usually encounter there. Thank you, Walgreens cashier, for surprising me in a good way. I hope you had a great New Year’s.

The pharmacy has an iffy track record in my book. Maybe I am just the unlucky one. Why does it have to be this one when it is so close to home? So a while back I picked up a prescription for, let’s say, something I use once a month. Said prescription was immediately administered. People tend to forget this once-a-month prescription until the month is over. Well, once it came time to refill, I realized this prescription was not in my name. Hey, the bag had my info all over it. Double checking the package inside didn’t occur to me. Oh great, someone got mine and I got theirs. It’s okay, same product, wrong names! I go to refill and inform them of the mishap. Suddenly I’m the bad guy for not alerting them sooner. Even worse? Can’t get a refill for 2 more months. I was in the hot-seat for a good couple of days before they rectified the situation but why should I have been to blame for their mistake? Another time I gave them a prescription and they went ahead and filled it while I was in the store. What they didn’t do was inform me that they didn’t have a sufficient quantity to complete the Rx. So they gave me half that day and told me they’d get more tomorrow. Well if they had told me before they started filling it, I would’ve taken it somewhere else. I had to return to Chicago immediately. Suggestion: inform the customer of the supply before incompletely filling the order. Oh well, what can I do? I just take my business to the one on Roosevelt & Summit.
