Went today for the first time, great experience. I absolutely love the outside seating next to the fountain. It’s very relaxing. I’ll start of with how great their service was, very friendly and the owner of the restaurant was very generous, made sure we where happy with our food and even offered dessert to try. Everyone was attentive, food tastes fresh with lots of flavor. Left me wanting to come back for more.

I love this place. Great food, that doesn’t leave you feeling weighed down and unhealthy after you’ve left, as typical fast food does. Nice people behind the counter, and a very attractive interior as well. Hummus is probably thinner than you’re used to, but is much more affordably priced than grocery store hummus. I’m getting hungry just writing about this place!

Called ahead to satisfy a stuffed grape leaves craving. I asked the girl on the phone if the grape leaves were made fresh or canned(the canned version of which I’m very familiar with) and she said that they cooked them themselves. Just picked them up, took a bite, and was very disappointed that they taste exactly like the canned version. 1 star for honesty — if I wanted canned grape leaves I am more than capable of purchasing them myself. I have a hard time believing that they cook them from scratch and somehow manage to yield the same exact product. Will not be back here again — plenty of other middle eastern restaurants in the area with principles.

I love all their dips and sides! Throwing a quick get-together at your house couldn’t be easier! Had a Game of Thrones viewing party with hummus, babagonush, yogurt sauce, extra pita(I added fresh cut veggies and fruit)! Great snacking food! I also love their lunches! Too good !

Staff was super friendly here. They could tell that it was my first time there and recommend their lunch special #2. You definitely get your money’s worth. It includes shish kabob, kefta kabob, Shawarma, chicken kabob, falafel with rice pilaf, pita bread and 2 sauces on the side. It was all absolutely amazing. Will def come back. The guy who took my order was all about his business and wanted to spread the word. This is spreading the word.

I have been to the Schaumburg location several times and am happy to report that this location is just as great. Walked in for dinner and was immediately greeted by the staff behind the counter. The menu has a nice variety and the prices are very reasonable. My order was taken right away and food was ready in 10 minutes. It is WORTH the wait — the food is so fresh and tasty. Ever wonder why McDonalds spits out your burger so quicky? I ordered the babaganoush(large portion) which was a very generous portion. I split it with my friend and the two of us could only get through half. The consistency and flavor were on point. I also got the combo platter. The rice was fluffy and moist, the lettuce was crisp, and the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Everything came out nice and warm. The pitas were also very warm & soft, perfect for dipping. This place is delicious and the staff is really attentive. I would recommend this place if you are looking for Mediterranean food of great quality and reasonable pricing. I will absolutely be returning :)

I felt I needed to do this review to balance out all the rave reviews… This place is just OK. The falafel was really good, other than that everything else was average or below average. –hummus tasted good, but was watery –tahini tasted good, but was also watery –grape leaves tasted good, but, they were a little thinly stuffed –tabboule, had an odd, overly sour taste –meats were good, but not great, especially the beef Shawarma was a bit dry –why are they using just regular yellow rice instead of basmati rice? if you’re going to go here I would say stick with the falafel only, but you can do better elsewhere with every other dish. …well maybe not in Glyn Ellen… maybe you have to go to the city… lol

I had never had Mediterranean before I came here, they could tell right away & were very helpful with the menu. I tried the combination plate to start & have now tried many things on their menu & many other Mediterranean places in the area & other areas. I have to say, I always come back here, great food, great portions, nice atmosphere, friendly staff!

The newly remodeled Pita House still stands as one of my favorite Mediterranean«fast food» places in the western burbs. It’s counter-type service, but the cooks, cashiers and managers are friendly and glad to see you. they remember faces and appreciate loyal customers. Their combination platter is great, with schwarma and falafel fresh and served in great portions.

I love their falafel sandwiches, I can’t review anything other than that because that’s what I go there for. Crispy outside, tender and flavorful inside the falafel is perfect, the pita is fresh, the sauce flavorful. The restraurant has a basic fast food décor, clean enough for the 20 minutes you’ll spend there.

Great lunch and dinner specials. I used to come here all the time but they recently changed there chicken shawarma into turkey shawarma and it just isnt the same. Staff is outstanding and restaurant is clean. Meats are well cooked and marinated. Falafel is always fresh. The sauce is not as good as Pita Inn and hence the 4 star review. But overall if your craving falafel I highly recommend Pita House!

On a weekday for dinner I decided to have a shot at this joint. Very comfortably located at Roosevelt road this one was recommended to me by my Foodie colleague for some good pita. I ordered Chicken Shawarma pocket, Hummus with pita bread, falafel combo and baklava. For drinks I had Turkish coffee and iced tea. Well Hummus as usual tasted really good while pita bread served was soft which I liked as it was fresh as well. Shawarma pocket was average in taste with lost flavours on the way to my table. Falafel was really good and crisp, they really stole the show. Baklava was good, buy I have tasted ones better then that. As far as drinks are consider, I would suggest better go for a bottle of water as Iced tea was pathetic and turkish coffee was like a concentrate, maybe people like it this way but that is not what I expected it to be.

So I have an addiction. And it’s one that I have«struggled» with for years. I say«struggled» because I refuse to give it up! But acceptance is the first step on the path of recovery. Here it goes, *deep exhale*. I am addicted to Middle Eastern food. THERE. I’ve said it! Now that I got that off my chest, I can get to the review. I’ve been coming here for YEARS. And as mentioned before, I’m absolutely addicted to Mediterranean food, so I’ve tried my fair share of middle eastern fare, and definitely have have my own mental rank list of which places I prefer, and which ones I pass on. There are three ways to go about eating at Pita House. Dining in, take out and catering. I’ve dined in over a dozen times, did take out maybe a dozen and a half.(I have never catered, but would definitely do it if ever I had a big enough group of people. From my understanding the catering menu has some items that aren’t found on the regular menu as it’s special order items.) Dining in atmosphere: They recently revamped the place over the last year or two(see pictures I uploaded). Looks great! And they always have some instrumental middle eastern music playing in the background at a volume thats not too low or too high. It’s at the perfect volume to add to the ambiance without compromising your experience. For those who have never eaten here before: Never been here before? No problem! The best bang for your buck, and the entrée that will allow your taste buds to cover the most ground is the Super Combination platter. This gives you a sampling of every meat they have(charbroiled chicken breast, sherwrma, kefta kabobs, steak kabobs, falafels). The running price is under $ 10 and it comes with the most delicious yellow rice, pita bread(in case u want to turn it into a sandwich!), garden salad and two sauces– a five alarm fresh hot sauce and a white-tahini sauce that’s INCREDIBLE over the rice, and puts out the five alarm fire from the hot sauce. Other options: For those that don’t want the super combo platter(hey, maybe you’re vegetarian!) They have a plethora of other options to fit any diet type. Falafels, baba gannouj(eggplant), mamma gannouj(zucchini), hummus, fattoush, grape leaves, turkey shawrma, chicken shawrma, chicken salad, tabbouleh, and more! They also have decent desserts; Knafa and baklava that you can order by the piece or order by the tray. Other things to note: 1) They have outdoor seating which is nice during the warmer months 2) Lunch specials are a STEAL. $ 5.95 and $ 6.95 as of posting this review. For $ 5.95 you get a combination of Shish Kabab, Kefta Kabab, Shawarma, and Falafel served with salad, rice pilaff, Pita bread and of course both of their sauces. For $ 6.95 you get the same thing as mentioned above, with the addition of chicken! M-F: 11am-3pm TL;DR: I love this place, get the super combination platter if you’ve never been here before, or if you like to sample a little of everything. They have quite a few options if you’re vegetarian, and their lunch options are a great bang for your buck!

I AMHUGEONMEDITERRANEANFOOD! This was a huge disappointment, the outdoor seating caught my eye. My glass for water was filthy, look like there was mold on bottom. The food quality is poor. And by poor, I could have made it better myself. Sure the price is OK, and the variety the meal came with but… QUALITYOVERQUANTITYPEOPLE! You are much better going to «Pinched» 5 minutes away. Off of highland! If you WANT some good, real, mediterranean food.

I am a big fan of Mediterranean food because of its simplistic, yet very flavorful dishes. From what I have experienced, it generally consists of meat(s), rice, and spices. Although very minimal by description, the flavors can have a lot of power if done correctly. I came to this place with my older sister and brother. We were all very hungry and read good reviews at this place so this was the spot. When we entered, we were the oy ones. It was a family-owned business which I’m a big fan of. We ordered hummus, falafels, and the combination platter. I was extremely content with the falafel. The falafel mix was so good! It was done perfectly. The combo platter was average — good, but I’ve definitely had better. It was a bit bland but still okay. I added a hint of salt and pepper to spice it back up. The hummus tasted a bit watered down as well. It was missing the extra kick. The desserts were sub average I would say. It smelled really bad there as well. It makes me upset to talk negative about the place because I really appreciated the customer service. The people there were very friendly and were very patient with us when we were ordering. The girl kept a smile on her face and was very approachable. I would recommend this place to a friend! Perhaps the other food items are good. Give it a try! Must try the falafels and tamarind juice for sure!

Very decent Mediterranean joint near the workplace. Their combination/entrée portions are well-sized and inexpensive. They just revamped the place and it looks really nice and includes a little waterfall. The customer service is good… they usually have a line during he lunch hours so they just want to be efficient. They have two lunch specials that have a little bit of everything. It comes with pita bread(not the best, very generic), chopped lettuce with tomato(the lettuce usually looks sad), and two sauces: yogurt & a spicy one. The only complaint I have is when you’re ordering soup or a side like rice the portions are extremely tiny. Not sure if this is a cultural thing since everything in ‘Merica is huge but sometimes I’m not feeling the meat and want a lentil soup… it’s not even a cup/size from a diner. Makes me sad because I absolutely love their lentil soup. I ordered a thing of rice and the size goes from tiny, small, to large(!!!). Anyway, if you’re looking for a cheap decent meal, Pita House is a good option.

My best work bud introduced me to Pita House; it’s right down the street from work as well as a good halfway point between our houses. While I love me some Mediterranean food, I have to admit that I never LOVED Pita House. I’d mostly eaten«Plates» before — usually some combination of meats/shawarmas, rice, etc. Meh. Good, but not something that fulfills my craving. My friend suggested we stop here for our early dinner last week, so I went along. Because I eat meat sparingly I knew I wanted a veggie option, so I sprang for the Falafel Sandwich($ 5 or so). While we waited we noticed new décor(minus a half wall and tired old booths/formica tables — now there is brown marble. Shnazzy!). Nice. OK, my sandwich was friggin’ delicious. The pita was nice and pillowy but sturdy enough to hold the contents. They had snipped off an end to stuff it, but it was done so that the contents wouldn’t spill out. And it was fresh — I didn’t feel heavy or remorseful after eating it. So, not only has Pita House gotten more attractive, but I’ve found some newfound love in that falafel sandwich. P. S.: My favorite Unilocal Eliter would give this bathroom review 2 Buttcheeks Down(«Sit»).
