Great find with awesome food, clean atmosphere, and Jennifer was one of the best waitresses we’ve ever encountered. Thanks for a fabulous start to our day!

Ugh, every time I come here they manage to irritate me. I’ve finally gotten so fed up that I told my wife to hit me over the head next time I suggest coming here. The problem is they’re within walking distance of our home, and sometimes you just don’t want to go far. You want close. I’d say I want fast, too. But this place is NEVER fast. One time we ordered takeout and they told us to come in a half hour. We did. And we ended up waiting an additional half hour once we arrived. Do you know how many times you can order a pizza and have it delivered in that amount of time? The service is just sooo slow. Even last night when there were about 5 tables filled in the entire restaurant, our waitress seemed to disappear for lengthy periods. She never came back to check on us until we were finished. Never refilled our drinks until we were done and then, strangely, she only refilled my wife’s drink — not mine. This doesn’t seem to be a singular occurrence as the the wait-staff just doesn’t give a care most of the time. The previous time they absolutely refused a reasonable substitution request for a side item that we offered to pay the difference on. Keep your customers happy? Not here. And as for the food? It’s adequate at best. Most things are passable, if not somewhat bland. Sorry, but if it weren’t the proximity to this place, I would never give them another passing thought. But sadly, all the good diners are farther away. I just hope I don’t fall into that trap and suggest coming here again, because I’m going to have one hell of a lump on my head.

Only giving this place 2 stars because I usually enjoy the food and wait staff; unfortunately won’t be back due to the rude customer service from the reception area. Old man(not sure if the owner?) doesn’t say two words to anyone… I’ve never seen such a miserable looking person in my life. My husband and I came in on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The older individual wasn’t saying anything to people that were paying. Then, he proceeded to sit people that walked in the door after us, even when they said we were there first. We walked out and went to another breakfast establishment in the area where they actually treat their customers respectfully.

I came here with my family upon my great-aunt’s request. Might I say, I was quite impressed! The server, whose name I think was Irena(Irina? Ina?), was definitely the sweetest server I’ve ever had. My great-aunt has a strange sense of humor, and Irena was able to joke with her right back! As far as the food is concerned, I got pancakes. Can’t really mess up pancakes, but the barley soup and French onion were delicious. They also give generous amounts of salad dressing, which is hard to come by. A handful of my group ordered flank steak cooked medium. They were all cooked with no pink in the middle, but were still good nonetheless. Overall, I would definitely come back here over the other Omega in Downers Grove. This one is farther away, but has much better food and service!

Took my son for breakfast this morning to the Omega(traveling for work has its bene’s) before his football game. He had the pigs in blanket and I had the combo with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. Scrambled was perfect with some volume in the ages, bacon was crisp and thick but the gravy was awesome. The biscuits where fresh and light. My was good but the pigs in the blanket was awesome. The pancakes are light fluffy(not dry at all) and had a great sweet malty taste to them. The coffee was strong and not watered down like in NJ. When I come back this will be my breakfast place.

Food was plentiful in portions and tasty enough. They seemed to be understaffed and were out of some fairly basic breakfast items . The place could use a good cleaning. It made me wonder if it was that dirty where you could see, i wondered about where a guest couldn’t see – I hope the kitchen was kept up.

My in laws suggested this place for breakfast. I was worried this would be a greasy, quantity over quality type place. But we were pleasantly surprised! The kids said we should give the review 10 stars! They really enjoyed their chocolate chip pancakes and Mickey Mouse pancakes. The adults all enjoyed omelets, crispy bacon, and pancakes. My wife loves Mexican food and she had the breakfast tacos which she really liked. Very flavorful, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes on the side. Service was friendly but maybe a tiny bit slow, which is understandable because they were very busy on a Sunday morning. My in laws said the menu has been expanded recently with lots of new options. Don’t let the bad reviews sway you — this is a good choice for breakfast.

I just had breakfast at Omega in Lombard. I have eaten their several times for breakfast and lunch. Their food is excellent. What’s not excellent is the owner of the restaurant who has 0 customer service skills and a horrible attitude. When My food came I had fruit on my plate: 1 little piece of watermelon and 1 little slice of cantelope. THIS was to substitute for my hash browns. When I confronted the owner as he walked by me, I said to him that I eat here all the time and the fruit on my plate was tiny. A normal person with any brain would say that this is how much fruit you get But let’s see what I can do. His response to me is that’s what we always give and walks away. Because of the way he handled the situation how he runs a restaurant is beyond me. My major complaint is the way he handled the situation. GRANTED if you get 2 pieces of fruit which you do that’s fine. The 2 pieces that I got was a joke. Because of his great attitude I’ll pass on this place as there are some other excellent restaurants near by.

I really wish I had checked Unilocal prior to going to this restaurant — I would not have gone! I am not going to say this restaurant was bad but I’m going to say it was not really good either, the food was average. The restaurant was clean though. Also, my waitress was very nice and attentive. She also placed my order accurately. I am in Kentucky girl, so the fact that there were no grits on the menu hurt my feelings. I ended up ordering the Alanta pecan pancakes with bananas added. I also ordered sausage and scrambled eggs with American cheese. Let me just say that portion size will not be a problem for you at this restaurant, the portions are huge! Let me first discuss my pancakes. I believe my plate had 4(8 inch diameter) pancakes. They were huge and fluffy but the taste was overly sweet! Add the syrup and they were pretty much inedible unless you like overly sweet pancakes. It was obvious that sugar and plenty of it had been added to the batter. I was unable to even finish one. And the syrup did not taste buttery or mapley — it was sweet and watery. The syrup had no texture or flavor. The sausage and egg plate came with eggs, two large sausage links and hash browns. The sausage links were awesome! I asked for American shredded cheese in my eggs, there was literally a half inch thick layer of melted cheese covering my eggs. It was just too much! The hash browns were nice and crispy but they had no flavor or seasoning. I did like their texture though. This place reminds me a lot of the diners up in New York — large portion but poor food flavor. Again I am from the south so I know breakfast — from now on I will cook it myself while I am up here.

Good coffee… good soup… good lettuce… good tomatoes… Omega!!! I look forward to many more Greek family-style restaurants in the near future, now that Greece is being evacuated thanks to Tsipras and friends.

First, I will register my chief complaint. The menu is diverse and has several dishes that are extremely unique. One of them is the Baked Apple Oatmeal, which comes as a full meal only. I arrived in Chicago at 7 am and dined with them and was very impressed with my breakfast. As promised, The Frugal Socialite brought more people back to the restaurant to experience the food. I wanted to sample the baked apple oatmeal dish, because I would not sure I wanted to order an entire meal. They hit me with what I called the«restaurant excuses». They said it is baked in a square pan and cut to order. For that reason, there is nothing extra they could spare as a sample. Really? Not only have I owned a catering business, worked for corporate and private restaurants as a marketing & Catering Manager, I’m also an international food journalist. Please don’t tell me that in cutting and getting the first slice out, there are no crumbs, there are no pieces that don’t look good enough to serve, and etc.. Sampling something to a customer, who may become repeat business, is not worth comping off one square? the profit margin on a dish comprised of oatmeal, applesauce and fillers is so high that it will impact revenues that much? I think not. Such a turnoff for me.

Ordered a veggie omelette & the amount of food that came out was huge! I could only finish half my plate. The omelette was bland, even after adding salt and pepper. Slightly disappointed but I’d be willing to try a different plate. Hash browns were exceptional, though! Done right. Cute place, I’d give them another try.

Went for Brunch w adult siblings and parents. Dad ordered Large Granny Smith Gourmet Pancake for $ 17 that takes 30min to make and is said to be enough for two. It was enough for all six of us! Full of apples and good flavor. Husband ordered Belgian waffle w Bananas which was good. Rest of us ordered skillets & my sister and I could have shared, they were very filling. Everything was reasonably priced. Pleasant wait staff. Restaurant was nicely decorated for Easter. But infrastructure was dated. Tabletop was peeling and caught my sleeve a few times. Nothing so bad to detract from a good time though. Bathrooms were clean. This is a diner, with unhealthy diner food. Don’t expect anything else. Wouldn’t come here for a salad. It is great for what it is. We would eat here again for sure.

Mission: Late Night Dessert! Unfortunately there aren’t many options at 9:45 pm, but Omega was one of the few. We scoped out the dessert case, but weren’t totally sold, though I was contemplating the tirimisu. We each ordered the ice cream sundae($ 4.95). I got the hot fudge and he got strawberry topping. Ok, the sundaes were ginormous! I was thinking we’d get ours in fountain-type glasses, but that wasn’t the case. I can’t tell you how many scoops they were(at least 3? 4?), but they were generously covered with whipped cream, syrup/topping, drizzle, and a cherry. Yum. The bill(with 2 coffees) was $ 15 before tip. Service was attentive — we were checked on and out coffees were refilled. I left with the sweet tooth satiated. :)

My husband and I wanted to eat a casual Friday night dinner out. We hadn’t been to the Omega in probably over 6 years. Unfortunately, tonight’s dinner was a FAIL for us. I went specifically for the cream of chicken with rice soup. The menu says that they serve this soup every day. Well, it should have said that they serve this soup, everyday except for Friday night. As our server explained it «We never have cream of chicken rice soup on Friday because that is the all you can eat fish day. No chicken on fish day.» Ok… that makes no sense to me because the other soup option was chicken matzha ball soup. But it is what it is, so I chose the matzha ball soup and my husband chose a salad instead. The chicken matzha ball soup was fair. There was exactly one 1″ piece of chicken in the small bowl. My husband’s entrée was the macaroni and cheese. I’ll admit the first time ordering macaroni and cheese at a restaurant can be a bit of an experiment. There are so many different ways the mac and cheese can be prepared; creamy, baked, crunchy topping, no topping, etc. The mac and cheese was an utter failure. We should have sent it back. I have never had macaroni so over cooked. The noodles were basically mush. They were covered in more of a white cheese sauce and then 2 slices of American cheese were laid on top and melted. It did not even look appetizing. We will not be returning.

This is your standard«Greek-style» diner. I’ve actually been to other Omega’s and this one is kind of lacking in comparison. The other locations I’ve been to have had an EXTENSIVE dessert section and really great bread selections in their«freebie» baskets. This one had neither. I think they had jello and rice pudding(as opposed to the other locations that had an eye popping display that made me want to say«forget about dinner, let’s just have pie») and the bread was just a couple of dingy rolls and cracker packs. I had the Omega skillet and added broccoli. It was really delicious, although I kind of grumbled for being charged $ 1 for the addition(Yeah, I’m cheap, so what?) It came with buttermilk pancakes that were pretty mediocre… in fact, they had an odd, almost dryer-sheet flavor to them… which was weird. It was faint and not overpowering, but I didn’t finish them. I did, however, finish the skillet, minus a few bites, it was really filling and delicious. I felt the service was kind of hit or miss. I was a lone diner, and I understand that sometimes waitresses don’t pay as much attention to us, but I noticed a small group of people who had another waitress really got much higher quality service. They got told specials, a smile in the waitress’s voice and attention when they needed accommodations. I asked for some hot sauce, once from the«nice» waitress(from the other group) since mine was MIA, and then again from my own waitress. I felt like by the time I got the hot sauce, I was nearly halfway done. Also, I could have probably«dined and dashed» in the time it took«the guy» to come to the register to finally ring me up. But I showed restraint and paid for my meal. I might give this place another shot at a different time of day, this was around 8:30 at night; or maybe if I had friends joining me. Perhaps I might get a better experience in other circumstances.

I can’t say that I’m a regular at Omega but I have gone there enough to know the low-down if someone was asking me about it. Omega is your run of the mill/neighborhood diner. It’s not going anywhere soon and I think that to be a good thing. If you’re looking for something easy, not pricey, and decent… you go to Omega. The service is average and the food is pretty average. Possibly a little above. Walking into Omega, it looks a little like an old fashioned diner. There’s not always someone there to greet you when you first walk in, which is less than satisfactory, but it’s not like you’re in a suit and tie waiting to be sat at Girl and the Goat or something. The servers are usually very nice and helpful but they can be a little distracted and not helpful sometimes. But– everyone has their bad days so who knows… regardless, my service here has been overall good every time I’ve come here. Not gonna complain on that too much. All in all, Omega is a standard breakfast/lunch/late night spot with a ton of options. If you’re looking for something everyone in your group can go eat at — even the picky eaters — go to Omega.
