Love this place! It’s so cute and cozy! The food is always great and everyone is very upbeat and friendly :) I also love the honey pot shaped coffee mugs. Ended up buying one after my first visit.

I’ve been eating at honey jam Café in Downers Grove for about six months, and each time I walk in to be greeted by my name. I’ve met the manager a few times I believe her name is Suzanne, she’s always coming over to see if everything is OK at my table. I didn’t have this one instance once, I have gotten a Cobb salad, and the chicken they used was a very tasty, so I notified my server Kristina and without hesitation she brought me a chicken breast on a plate and had asked me to try this. I was so delighted with that but I did reach out to the manager and let her know what she had done. So I definitely recommend going to honey jam

It took over 45 minutes to get our food. Then when my breakfast burrito finally arrived, the server told me all the guacamole was bad and it had to come without. What I later discovered was that the side of fruit was also bad as well. My daughters corned beef hash was in large clumps of corned beef — not missed as a hash. The food was horrible and service just as bad. I will not be back.

3.5 stars. I’ve been here many, many times since there’s not too many brunch places in the burbs so it’s unfortunate that service and food are both inconsistent. Sometimes you get a super friendly waiter, sometimes you’re stuck with a sourpuss who’s unhappy to be working. Food is okay, not bad but not really good either. Can’t put my finger on it but something about the food here just isn’t on point. I definitely prefer the food at blueberry hill to the food here-it’s much tastier. Ambience is really nice though. There’s a fireplace and it feels kind of like you’re at a cozy cottage.

Had a working breakfast yesterday, it was quite packed even the parking lot was full on a weekday @ 7am. I asked the hostess if i could get some coffee and she said there are coffee pots on the table and we can help ourselves(minus points). Everyone ordered their wide selection of breakfast options, i had the oldfashioned oatmeal. The portion sizes are huge but not the best. Another negative there is no butter on the tables, toast is prebuttered.

I remember really liking Honey Jam about 3 years ago, so I decided to meet up with a friend here one Saturday morning for Breakfast. I honestly don’t remember why I liked this place. Don’t get me wrong: the ambiance of the restaurant itself is cozy. It feels like you’re in a really large cottage dining with a large family with the way the place is designed inside and their decoration choice. When it comes to the food itself, I just wasn’t impressed at all. My friend got the potatoe pancakes which ended up looking exactly like hash brown patties served with sour cream and applesauce. I felt so bad because she was super excited to have potatoe pancakes since she hadn’t had them in a long time. I just couldn’t believe the small portion compared to the price. I was embarrassed that I even suggested the place when I saw her plate. I got an omelette which was just bland and mediocre at best. There was just nothing exciting about this experience at all. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but I don’t think I’d ever give them a second try. Especially since we dropped a pretty penny for food that just wasn’t very good at all. I’ve been to way better breakfast places — I would recommend going somewhere else if you’re craving a good breakfast.

Wonderful place to grab some lunch. I had a Mexican style omelet which was cooked to perfection. The pancakes are to die for. The fresh orange juice was on point. Staff is always friendly and there is ample seating and parking but typically there is a wait. I highly suggest stopping by this location for some Sunday brunch! Very family friendly which is a huge plus!

There are not enough competing brunch spots in that area to go to so Honey Jam Café will have to do. For how cute it is inside, the service could be better and same goes with the food. I would say it is more inconsistent than anything. I’ve been here about 4 or 5 times, and each time I leave feeling underwhelmed with what I ate. Especially my most recent experience. Our waitress was kind and friendly but forgot about us a lot, and that isn’t the first time this has happened here. The sweet foods are way better than their savory dishes. I made the mistake of ordering a skillet the last time; it was NOT good at all. The potatoes were overcooked, dry and bland, and the toppings were not mixed well in the skillet. All the spinach was shoved to one side, like a mini salad on the left of the skillet. There was hardly any cheese and the tomatoes were not fresh and did not compliment the skillet like you would expect. I was severely disappointed with the dish. I dowsed it with hot sauce and ketchup to try to get more flavor and salvage the skillet. The crepes my friend ordered were actually very tasty and I would definitely order those again. I’ve also ordered french toast and the cinnamon roll french toast in the past and thoroughly enjoyed those dishes in the past. I haven’t tried their lunch items and maybe I will. It’s a good spot to meet with people, the décor is nice, and the ambiance is chill.

While visiting Chicago we stumbled across this cute little café… and so glad we did! The service was awesome. Not realizing that they close at 230pm, we arrived at 210pm. They welcomed us as if we were the first to arrive for the day. Fast service, good food. Can’t beat it!

Been excited to try this place an offshoot of Portillo’s. 3 locations so far. Country version of Walker Bros. I like it! Warm, friendly inside. Initial service was very slow, nobody at the door to greet me. After that the service was excellent. Coffee was delicious. Eggs benedict and hashbrowns with hollandaise on the side. The eggs were huge and cooked perfectly, the hashbrowns were brownd just the way i liked them.

All the things I like in a breakfast restaurant. First they leave a pot of coffee which saves me from having swivel head thinking«where the heck is she with more coffee?» A large water glass. See above. Extra napkins(without having to ask for them). AND the French toast combo was more than generous. Great tasting cinnamony French toast. Solid sausage patties. Great eggs. And good hash browns. The side of fruit was a little heavy on the under ripe melon but whatever. Very prompt and pleasant service.

I had no idea that Honey Jam was owned by Portillo’s but it makes sense since they are located literally across the street from a Portillo’s. Service was great; our waitress was efficient, friendly, and very helpful! My friend wanted to order the chicken and waffles but our waitress warned him beforehand not to order it and I thank her for that! Food was so-so, not the best breakfast food I’ve had but it did the job. I ordered the Philly skillet(of course I got a skillet) and my friend got the Meat and Two Eggs. Our food came out almost immediately after ordering which makes me a bit skeptical of how fresh it is. My skillet was alright but was definitely lacking flavor, it was mostly made up of onions and peppers and little bits of thinly sliced beef. I think he was satisfied with his dish since you really can’t screw up scrambled eggs and sausages. Honey Jam is a step up from IHOP but can’t compare to my favorite Egg Harbor Café.

A perfect place for breakfast and brunch, almost crowded on weekends. I have been to many breakfast joints but never ever tasted some good waffles and French toast that i had here. I have ordered Monkey waffle(with peanut butter, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup topped with banana and whipped cream) and Red Velvet French Toast with cream cheese, strawberry and chocolate sauce. Trust me both were far beyond my expectations. It was a heavenly experience. Oh !! how can I forget the Sanfrancisco Chicken melt, the chicken was tender and juicy. Loved it !!! I must say this place don’t deserve less than 5 but the service was not good.

Went for a weekday breakfast, so there was no wait. It’s a big place with plenty of seating. We were welcomed by a very pleasant server who was attentive without being intrusive. She was honest about the coffee being on the light side so we ordered an americano coffee instead of the filter coffee. It was a lot better. My sister and I ordered the two egg breakfast which was pretty standard. Hash browns were cold though which was disappointing. My mother ordered the Challah bread French toast which were very good. Overall it was a wasn’t a bad experience since we had a nice place to sit and chat and weren’t made to feel we had to rush out after our meal. Pricing was fine and food came quickly. Sometimes it’s more about the overall experience than the food!

Absolutely love this place! I’ve been here quite a few times and it still remains my all time comfort brunch place. Their skillets and waffles are delicious! Warm and cozy ambiance :)

So…6 months ago, this place would have gotten a 5 star review. They get the 2 stars because of their courteous staff and service. You will always be treated in the best way one can be treated at a resturant! Love them for that. Also, USED to live their menu too… hence, its no longer a 5 star rating. They recently changed it… a buddy of mine and I starred blankely at the menu for about 15 minutes and couldnt figure out what is what. Its still a good menu, but for the people that knew their old stuff which is no longer there is a challenge. Ill really have to be convinced to go back. Still love u guys though.

Wasn’t my favorite… a huge fan of Portillos and was happy to hear they had a breakfast spot. Went out of my way to come here and well… it wasn’t very good. We eat at a different breakfast spot at least 6x/month and as you all know I either review a spot when I’m exceptionally pleased or disappointed. Son ordered off the children’s menu and had a better plate than mine. I’m shocked there’s more than one location. I ordered the country fried steak and hash browns with eggs… just… not great. The eggs were requested fried /over-hard and they came out slimey, «plasticy» and undercooked(the yolk especially). The chai tea latte was the best thing I had the opportunity to taste… as little as it was for the price. Not a good experience, but it looks as if I’m not alone on how it went. The quantity in high ratings are here, but if you look at the reviews of those who are disappointed you will see how it all ties together. There’s nothing here for a true Foodie, buy if you enjoy saying you ate at the place owned by Portillos… do you.

The weekend line for breakfast would probably be what you’d expect. You can easily expect to wait 30 minutes to an hour. Lots of families and lots of kids. Not a bad thing, but be prepared. Service is okay. Considering their typically swamped, it’s not a surprise that they’re running around like crazy, but again, be prepared to wait on simple things like refills on water and other beverages. The food is on par with IHOP or Denny’s. You get better options, but the quality of the food is practically the same. The only bonus is you get bigger portions, but you’re also paying for them, so that definitely evens out. Solid time out, good with families. I have yet to try the lunch menu, but I’d imagine that it falls in line around the same quantity and quality.

I’m a huge fan of weekend brunching. And I like to splurge and spoil myself a little bit when it comes to brunch. Cozy and homey, I like the ambiance of this place. My recommendation is that you arrive there before 10am. After that, you’re really stuck waiting for a good 45 mins to an hour. I’m going to gush about their waffles and french toast. My favorite waffle has to be their Belgium Sundae waffle. They serve a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with chocolate sauce. Mmmmm. And the their strawberry cream cheese french toast is like magic. So good. I also really like their corned beef hash. Overall, quality food, reasonable price. Go get your breakfast on!

My first visit. We were seated quickly, but not asked to order for about 15 – 20 mins. The waitress messed up our orders. Some of the food wasn’t hot/fresh. Someone I was with said this was her experience on a previous visit also. The waitress also disappeared for long periods of time and just wasn’t on point. I had a philly steak skillet which was DELICIOUS, but she added cheese when I don’t eat cheese and asked her not 2 add it. She offered to remake it but it took 30mins to get the 1st orders. I also had the specialty apple & cinnamon pancakes. DIDN’T LIKETHEM!!! Prices weren’t too bad. $ 50 for 4 people. It was just an ok spot.
