Gas is expensive anywhere you go, but nowhere is it more expensive than here. Not by a long shot. Oh sure, maybe it’s worse in downtown Chicago, or on Oahu or Iceland or Paris, but I think this Citgo station is trying to pull one over on unsuspecting drivers in Lombard. During the week, gas prices in the area had dropped to somewhere in the 3.16 range. This Citgo was selling it for 3.66. Yep, read that again. A good half-dollar more expensive than anywhere else in the area. And that’s for standard 87-octane gas without a car wash.(That whole car wash bait-and-switch makes me sick, so at least they don’t pull that here.) This morning, my drive on Roosevelt offered multiple gas stations with prices at 3.09. I specifically headed north on Main to see if maybe this station had a sign malfunction for the past several weeks, but nope. Apparently the sign works just fine, as they dropped their prices… to 3.46. Nearly forty cents more? Is this your deal for the working man? Do you simply not want anyone bothering you, J&K? Or are you hoarding gas for the apocalypse? As the only gas station on the corner, and almost a mile from any other station, it’s not surprising to see a bump in the price. But this is a mountain, not a bump. I’ll kick myself if I ever go here again.
