Lockhart Bistro is absolutely FABULOUS. It has brought much needed high end food and ambiance to Lockhart. My husband and I have been here at least two or three times a month since they opened October 2015 and have never been disappointed. The food is fantastic, service is wonderful, bar is great, and there are absolutely no negatives. Parind Vora is a master in the kitchen. Love, love, love Lockhart Bistro. We hope they’re here to stay.

Shrimp and sausage with grits! Perhaps the best meal I’ve ever had! I’m truly impressed. My wife had the redfish and shrimp and she was just as happy. Really cool experience, thanks!

Lockhart has a restaurant. A little bit upper end for this area, but we need the variety. Descent food, strong specialty drinks and real cloth napkins. I hope the culture will last in Caldwell county.

Why do people rave about a restaurant in a review yet give it 4 stars? Maybe I’ll never understand. Lockhart Bistro = 5STARS!

This place is on its way to being a potential regular stop for me. Overall, the cocktails and food are good. Some things are REALLY good, but there’s some flops, too. I feel like any solid restaurant that wants a lot of repeat business takes the time to filter out the weak spots in the menu, and I hope that happens soon. I’d love to see more ways to get side salads/veggies in there as sides so that I can make this a regular alternative to making myself dinner. Burger is very quality, the red snapper and shrimp was really tasty. Hope the service can step it up a tad, sometimes there’s several people standing around and no one checking in on tables that often. However, everyone that works there seems very sweet, and maybe just not super experienced in the food industry since they seem young. Overall, I would love to see Lockhart Bistro flourish!

We’ve eaten here about 5 times and have decided it’s our favorite restaurant in Austin – even though it’s in Lockhart. Appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee and the service are all top notch.

I have eaten at the Lockhart Bistro several times and decided to take a dear elderly couple there tonight. I had called earlier and asked that we sit at a quieter table since one of them has a hearing problem. I was surprised that the manager took us to a private room with the table already set up for us. The service was impeccable. My water glass never got below half full before she was back to refill it. We all enjoyed our food very much. My friends split the blackened salmon and had wonderful feedback and I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp and redfish scampi, which the waitress had recommended. The key lime pie and chocolate mousse were also delicious. I want this nice upscale restaurant to stay in Lockhart, so please try it out. You will be very pleased that you did. In fact, I would drive from San Marcos, Kyle or Buda to eat here before any restaurant in those two town or even in Austin because you won’t have to drive in their crazy traffic.

I was seriously impressed with this place. You normally wouldn’t expect to find this kind of quality in a small town. Great drink selection and the entrees our table got were all delicious. We had the burger, the chicken pot pie, the redfish, and the sea bass. The price is about what you would expect for the quality but it really wasn’t that high.

Everyone that lives here knows Lockhart has NOTHING but bar-b-que and fast food and we got burned out of that yeeeears ago! As my boyfriend and I were headed to South Austin for dinner, yet again, I pulled up this Unilocal app while driving through Lockhart and low and behold — Lockhart Bistro showed up! We decided to take a chance and try them out before making the journey to Austin. What a pleasant surprise! Better yet — this place is only about 12 minutes from my house!!! ** ヘ(^_^ヘ)(ノ^_^)ノ Whoop whoop ~ with a happy dance! ** The décor, atmosphere and background music is really nice and cool! Since this place is new, everything was very neat & clean. The hostess that sat us and the young waiter & waitress that waited on us were very attentive and friendly as well. Now the food: wonderful! We started with two appetizers since we couldn’t decide on just one. We ordered the chipotle glazed shrimp with a cilantro ranch dipping sauce and the fried oysters with roasted corn salsa & cocktail sauce. Shrimp was perfect — not overly cooked and wonderful smoked chipotle flavor!(Don’t be afraid of «chipotle»…these are not spicy at all.). The fried oysters were really good too! We ordered two different meals so that we could try each other’s while trying more dishes from this place. We ordered the cajun blackened Atlantic salmon Caesar salad and the redfish & shrimp scampi with lemon-caper butter sauce over wild rice pilaf & green beans. Both dishes were very tasty overall. The salmon was really good, but the Cesar salad was a little plain-Jane for this price point… I guess I expected a little more uumph! The redfish and shrimp dish was full of flavor and cooked perfect but had too many capers. I’m not a big fan of capers because they are so salty and«briney» but a few are okay. I think less capers would’ve been better for me. Wild rice pilaf was savory and the fresh green beans were perfect. Delicious. Don’t forget the wonderful sweet tea! Yes, I will return and try some more dishes for your Unilocaling-reviewing pleasure! I will even try a cocktail… or two… or three next time. They have a very extensive wine, cocktails and beer menu that I think I must try… Lockhart DESPERATELY needed a place like this! (Almost forgot to mention: I think some of the prices are a little higher than what local Lockhart people are used to paying… but this is an upscale & convenient restaurant and I think it’s worth it. Our bill came out to @$ 54 for two adults.)

My family and I stopped by Lockhart Bistro on Tuesday on our way home from the ranch. We were not in the mood for BBQ and drove around and saw this place. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality food, drinks and service we received. We had deviled eggs and fried oysters as appetizers and both were delicious. The main course meals were outstanding, particularly the Salmon and red fish dishes. I can’t remember our waiter’s name, but he was terrific, helpful and courteous. Great job. I will for sure make this. Regular stop when driving through Lockhart!

This is the most«fashion forward» restaurant in Lockhart. The bar drinks make a trip to Austin or San Antonio unnecessary. However, there were small bones in the fish filet; the plate and everything in it were swimming in the butter sauce; when something is sautéed it should not be fried on one side. I loved the beer selection and the Guinness drought was awesome, the temperature had been kept steady. The crime brûlée was an abomination. We need restaurants like this in the area but if one orders a dish that should be sautéed having fish fried on one side and the whole plate swimming in the butter sauce is awful. Perhaps the othr menu items are different. Fresh, in-house, prepared fish is great, except for the little bones. And crime brûlée? Come on;, that’s a classic; it’s not a cold pudding with a quickly added crust. In fact, it’s not a pudding. I will be returning but for the bar items and appetizers. This will surely be a successful local gathering place. I will try other main dishes. The presentation was delightful but the interpretation of classic dishes seemed to be inconsistent and dated.

Absolutely Love this place! My parents go here at least once a week and I go with them every time I am in town! They have good a wine selection, the food is to die for! The owner and head chef are always coming out to say hi to everyone, which is so nice. The Lamb is wonderful, must try the brusel sprouts and grits. Even if you are not a grits fan these are amazing. Anything you order on their menu you will like! Highly recommend this place and will be back in soon!

Last night was my first visit to Lockhart Bistro and I must say I was impressed. I had watched the construction of the restaurant and was looking forward to fine dining coming to Lockhart. I had actually seen Restaurant Jezebel on the Best New Restaurant show on Bravo. I bookmarked it on Unilocal when I saw the show, but never made it out there. I eating dinner with a client who owns a local business and she knew the Chef, Parind Vora. He came to our table and introduced himself and made recommendations. We tried the deviled eggs with Sriracha mayo. I love deviled eggs and Sriracha so this was a match made in heaven. I ordered the Redfish and Shrimp Scampi for my entrée. I was not disappointed. The sauce was light and flavorful. The redfish was perfectly seasoned. The portions were just right. Two of the ladies I was with ordered the ‘Yuge’ Lamb shank with grits. I love grits and so I def want to try that dish next time. The Beef Squared filet mignon & beef short ribs also looked delicious. All of the food was beautifully plated. I wanted to take pictures of all of them!

Came in for a couple of bday drinks for a friend on the night of the Dickens Xmas parade downtown on the way to a show at the Gaslight Baker. I honestly was not expecting much, but was so pleasantly surprised at the cosmopolitan feel of this little bistro on the square in Lockhart! Though the drinks were imitative of a lot of the cocktail options you would find at most bars in Austin, they made them strong enough and they made them well. They even make their own lemoncello! The bar manager and bartender were absolute delights and looked like they were genuinely enjoying themselves. Which made sitting at the bar that much more fun! But, I have to say, this place took my breath away when I made a long sought after spirits discovery. My friend wanted a shot of Bulliet(which I declined since I can get that anywhere) and figured they must have something a bit more substantial, I perused their visible whiskey offerings and literally squealed when I saw they had Jefferson’s Ocean Aged Bourbon! I had been trying to mark this one off my Bourbon Bucketlist for awhile and would never in a million years guessed that I would find it in Lockhart?! This stuff is definitely worth the $ 18 pour…6−8yr old small batch bourbon barrels sent on a 6mos trek around the world on an oceanic research vessel that docks at 31 ports and crosses the equator four times. Most people would say this was a gimmick until they actual taste it. Oh my Flying Spaghetti Monster, if this bourbon were a man, I’d marry it! That being said, any place that is this quietly classy and confident, I will definitely be coming back to in order to try their food menu(which after checking out seems to match the ambiance of the space). Stay classy, Lockhart Bistro, stay classy!

Hands down the best meal I’ve had outside of Austin in the 4 years that I’ve lived here. So good! We started with the chipotle grilled shrimp. Six large shrimp arrive at our table on individual skewers. The chipotle glaze had just a touch of heat that really brought out the sweetness of the perfectly cooked shrimp and when dipped in the cool Cilantro ranch it made for a wonderfully balanced bite that I could eat over and over again. Hubby and I both agreed we could just get 4 orders of these, make a meal of it, and go home happy! Hubby ordered the lamb shank for his entrée and half way through announced that we’re coming back on Saturday(today is Wednesday) so that he can have another one. The meat shredded away from the bone with the lightest pressure from the fork and was sitting on top of the most creamy and smooth grits I have ever tasted. The whole pile was smothered in and herbed garlic cream sauce that I literally could have licked off of the plate. I had the beef squared cooked medium. Let’s start with the filet. Cooked to utter perfection. I order medium steaks everywhere I go and they’re often over coked but not here. The most delicious red center surrounded by a nice brown ring and almost crispy crust all piping hot. Mmmm. Next was the huge piece of beef short rib. This meat is best described as the most flavorful pot roast on steroids you’ve ever tasted. It shredded apart with a touch of the fork and was so rich that it melted in my mouth. The bed of horseradish mashed potatoes was heavenly with the perfect amount of horseradish to complement the meat but not over power the dish. I plan to order the sea bass on our next visit but it’s going to be hard not to just order another plate of this beefy goodness. We ended with the crème brûlée which was a nice way to end the meal but I won’t have nearly as much trouble picking a new desert to try next time as I will with the appetizer and entrée. Our server was friendly and attentive, maybe overly attentive, and the atmosphere was great! I highly recommend it!
