The perfect place on the historic Lockhart Square for a relaxed lunch, it’s always good!

I was in Lockhart eating at some popular local barbecue joints, and stopped in here afterwards for some coffee. The staff is hospitable and were able to tell us a lot about Lockhart. We were convinced to try the buttermilk pie, and it was absolutely worth it, even after a heavy barbecue meal. The pie was smooth and creamy and very flavorful. It came as a big slice served with whipped cream. The staff offered us free coffee refills, even in our to go cups, and some locals eating there gave us pointers about the area. Overall, this is a good stop if you find yourself in Lockhart.

I love this place. It’s on the town square across the street from the historic courthouse. Their pulled pork sandwich rocks. I love the apple pie with a scoop of ice cream too.

Was waiting to meet a friend for BBQ and needed a snack. We went in for a pie and tried their original pulled pork sandwich. The meat was very tender and the sauce was delicious. We also tried their chocolate pecan pie and it was sooo good. The service was amazing. We had my hyper four year old son– the owner was so friendly and patient with us. I highly recommend this restaurant.

So good. I had the plain pulled pork sandwich and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. I didnt use my soup crackees because it would change the taste of a soup perfect as is. Both were super tasty. The service was sincere, fast, and friendly. I sat on the back patio and had the nicest sun, shade, buildings and birdsong about me. Eat here.

Based on the recommendations of the other reviewers here on Unilocal,I stopped in to try the pie at T&C café while visiting family in Lockhart. It was well worth a visit! My husband, children and I chose the buttermilk pie and apple pie a la mode. I had a flavored iced coffee as well and my children shared a lemonade. We were not disappointed with our choices — everything was excellent! Lemonade: not too tart and not too sweet, but just right! The pies were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the iced coffee was the perfect pick-me-up made perfectly to my specifications. :) Thanks T&C for the delicious snacks, I will definitely be back for more!

I’ll continue with the 5 stars! We stopped by for a coffee since it was a freezing cold day. Saw they had hot chocolate there so asked for half half. The really nice lady even asked if we wanted peppermint flavoring to be added, which was a great idea. The coffee was Folgers, which was meh, but man, service really won us over. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for a new pot to brew since a party of 8 just sat. She was very nice, checked with us twice to see if we need anything and made sure we were comfortable. The place has a simple décor, but very home-y feel, so it’s very welcoming. There were about 3 other tables there, all having some pies. We really want to try some but were way too full after the BBQ binge.

Really really really really nice place. I’ve been driving through Texas(from Australia) and it was amazing to find a place that actually served something that included vegetables. The garden sandwich was like meeting an old friend. My body thanked me, and that lemonade… It was the nicest thing I’d put into my body in this country! If I lived in Austin… Heck, if I lived in DALLAS I’s drive here at least weekly for that sandwich and lemonade. Thankyou guys so much

We were in Lockhart taking a walk around the square following a meal of barbeque when we got the urge to have a nice relaxing cup of coffee and some sort of goodie. But, where? Not a coffee shop in sight. Then, we came upon the T&C Café! We were made welcome by the owners of this warm, homey environment. The restaurant has original wood floors, pressed tin ceiling high above, and is decorated with the work of local artists and has comfortable enough chairs and tables and uncrowded seating. We chose a table for two in an alcove with a window facing the courthouse. Enough on the décor, hospitality and comfort. What about the food? We ordered the pecan pie, warmed, with vanilla ice cream. Thomas, one of the proprietors served us personally. Best pecan pie we ever ate and we have eaten a lot of them. So good, we bought a slice to go for our neighbor back home. We look forward to making this place a regular stop when we drive Highway 183 through Lockhart. We hope the weather is warm enough next time to try out the patio seating area. We plan to slowly eat our way through the menu.

Came to Lockhart for BBQ, but long long lines and hunger sent us on a walkabout. We found T&C and it’s an absolute gem. Reasonably priced delicious sandwiches, soups, and desserts. We had pulled pork and turkey sandwiches. For dessert, apple pie with Blue Bell ice cream.

Great little place near the way too long barbecue lines. Really fast service and good food too! The cook makes his pulled pork sandwiches the long way, which means it’s super flavorful & yummy. Highly recommend the apple pie a la mode. Enough space with a good view while you eat.

Stopped by while the spouse was at a meeting and tried some lemonade and the buttermilk pie and HOLYGOODGOD they’re good. Try this place out… because it is the shiznit. Also, the owners are nice and can take a joke which is always good for people like me who make a lot of jokes.

My husband tried this place out earlier in the day and was raving about the Buttermilk Pie and Lemonade, so he took me by when we met up. I was not disappointed. The buttermilk pie was sooooo Freaking Awesome! And the hand squeezed lemonade has definitely made my top five list. It was served in a large mason jar, making it a much better deal than at most other places, considering the fact most establishments don’t do free refills on lemonade. We also got to sit and talk with the owners. They are super friendly and really eager to make their customers happy. We will definitely be back!
