My girlfriend and I love this place. I try a different special everytime we go and have not been disappointed. The staff is great the food is great the price to portions are just right. All around great family diner. I would like to see biscuits and gravy on menu, but they do have crunchy french toast.

I’ve been on this total European food kick lately. I’m not sure why, been craving sauerkraut and cabbage and no I’m not pregnant! I had heard that Steve’s has some pretty righteous Polish food. Particularly the soups: Dill and cabbage. I could live off soup, and shamefully never had dill soup before. Well let me tell you. Holy smokes It’s so good. I read other reviews before going and trust me it’s no joke. Amazingly delightfully scrumptious. Anywho, I ordered the combination polish plate: kielbasa(very good), pierogies, a sauerkraut, potato and a cheese; super good all of them. It also came with a really good monkey dish side of sauerkraut and a choice of stuffed cabbage or city chicken. I went with the stuffed cabbage, as well as the dill soup. You can add a cup for .79 cents. A cup is a bowl(fyi) After the soup and a nice slice of rye; I was pretty full. When my meal came. I tried a few bites and whoa, I need a to go box. I also got a pint of that amaze balls dill soup to go home. The service was decent and efficient. The ambiance not bad for a diner. Would I go back absolutely! My meal was delightfully delicious and I had enough leftovers for dinner and lunch the next day. Prices very reasonable. If your in the area, definitely worth a shot!

This is surprisingly a great place to find delightful and home made polish food! Pickle soup, pierogis and more. Family diner atmosphere and good service.

This is my go to place for when Im craving something Polish! Especially when I dont have time to go to Hamtramck. I have always gotten fast friendly service no matter what time I have gone. I havent really ventured out because I stick with the same thing usually. I get the Polish plate which contains a stuffed cabbage or City chicken, 3 pierogis, kraut and Kielbasa. A bread basket also comes with the meal with fresh rye and white breads. Also a cup of soup or Salad. I always get the dill pickle soup its yummy! And the plus side is the cup is actually the size of a bowl. I believe the combo plate is around $ 9 or less the price of a whopper combo super sized! I have had the fried pork chops and they are crispy and large size. They come with mashed potatoes and corn. They also have a variety of desserts. I hear that the banana cream pie is great but their always out when I go. So give it a shot, i keep returning and Im never disappointed.

Food is very plain tasting. The ceiling was leaking. Family restaurant is in the name and the restrooms don’t even have changing tables. Would never eat here again. Very disappointing experience both times I have eaten here.

Great traditional Polish fare. Fresh stuff, well made. Clean and well maintained place. Staff friendly and professional. Eaten here several times and also had some take out. Not the food you should be eating everyday, but more like the food you want to eat everyday. My favorites … Try the combo plates.

Only went here once. Was extremely disappointed! Got the Polish plate. I found it to be flavorless. Didn’t seem fresh, tasted frozen. The dill pickle soup was the worst I’ve ever had. I will drive out of my way to go get better Polish food. Unlikely to ever go here again.

Absolutely great dining experience. I can’t believe it’s taken me forever to eat here. I figured it was a GFS type diner NOT!!! I think many polish grandmas are in that kitchen cooking their hearts out! Lol Bread that came with meal was soft, fresh, doughy– yummy I ordered the bake pork chops OMG!!! Delicious!!! So tender, thin, tasty pork chop cooked in a light tomato based sauce, lots of onions(thin slices), 2 huuuuuge pork chops. One went right to a takeout box. The mashed potatoes were REAL and mmm yum! The veggie wasn’t my choice so the waitress offered me another option. I went with coleslaw! The coleslaw was sweet tart and sooo creamy yum! I didn’t care for the side of saurkraut — it was too tart. I like it on the sweet/tart side. I ordered a bowl of dill pickle soup. Again, homemade yumminess. Just a hint of pickle tartness. Now I that point I should have stopped eating as they were going to have to roll me out of there– I enjoyed a slice of lemon cake. Perfect. Moist and lemony . So I’m going to go into a food coma– later

My absolute favorite item is their chicken dumpling soup! They have excellent Polish food. Everything tastes fresh and is presented well. The staff is prompt and friendly. It is a very cozy environment and makes you feel right at home. A must try for anyone who hasn’t been there before.

I love this place. Great prices… great food… quick service… and best of all? Authentic Pierogi’s. Damn tasty ones too. Enough to probably give you a heart attack if you finish off a full order, however the best thing about them is that they are truly homemade, and are very… very tasty. Luckily for me, this place is right down the road from many of my travels. However, if you come on Sunday, around ‘church-getting-out’ time… be cautious… you might be waiting out the door for any type of a seat.

I cannot comment on the Polish food. I am not polish and didn’t grow up on it. Mostly, I just order within my comfort zone… breakfast and soup. This place is clean, easy to park and well lit. Service is fast and friendly. Breakfast is always great. They give you way more than any human should eat but that’s common for the diner type places. Pancakes are top notch here! I’ve gotten soup to go numerous times. It’s fantastic. They give you enough for 3 along with bread. I’ve always been amazed at the selection. They have probably 5 soups daily. Soup is definitely house made and fresh. Clam chowder isn’t as thick as I like, but still fantastic. The service is really what makes this place shine. The servers are friendly, efficient and know the menu. I’ve always been treated very well and like family at Steves. Never do you get the feeling like you aren’t welcome.

What an awesome little gem! Came here on a Thursday for lunch and was really pleasantly surprised! I ordered the meatloaf which was a special, and a cup of soup. The soup was bowl-sized and only .79 with the meal! OMG! Plus, I ordered the chicken dumpling soup and it was fantastic! SUCHTENDER dumplings and really flavorful broth! The meatloaf was really savory and delicious — not tomato-based. Came with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband got the city chicken which was fork-tender and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. HIGHLY recommend!

I grew up eating(homemade) Polish food; so this place is naturally a tough sell for me. My Mom got the Polish combo(the kielbasa was luke-warm at best), perogi’s were ok. The City chicken is drown in gravy. None of the meal entrees come with a salad, and if you order one it’s looks slapped together for $ 1.60. The waitstaff consists of 20-something’s that are more concerned with gossiping about customer, checking their Facebook on their phones, or handing out with their friends who come up to visit. Yeah. the waitstaff needs to be overhauled– badly. On my «How-Much-Better-Than-Ram’s Horn-Scale», I’d give it 3 out of 5 points better than ‘the Horn! Pretty much inline with Big-Boy.(the waitstaff is really what brings it down) It’s worth your time if you’re REALLY hungry!

The Polish Platter is spot on. Went with stuffed cabbage over city chicken and fresh over smoked kielbasa. Added on the cabbage soup. The bowl is HUGE, so unless you have a big appetite, the cup is more than enough. The best Polish food outside of Polonias in Hamtramck.

Excellent place with plenty of parking to start. Walk in the door and are seated right away for a Friday night. The have choice of table or booth seating so if need one or the other you can decide. Looking at the menu have many specials and decided to go with the perch and that came with two sides. Also got the drink special which they also serve beer and wine though it is a limited selection. Before deciding the Server was great in describing what and how food is prepared and you must get the soup which was added for a mere .79 cents. Food came out hot and was awesome. Fish was cooked perfectly and breaded lightly which was nice to taste fish and not all breading. During dinner the atmosphere was quite so can enjoy dinner without distractions. Overall great experience.

There’s no better value for the money than this place! Excellent polish food… and a lot of it for the money. The soups are fresh, hot and delicious. The dill pickle soup is very flavorful with lots of potato cubes If you can’t get to Hamtramck, don’t worry about it. Come here.

Steve’s is a great place for breakfast. The omelettes are large and loaded with filling. I especially love the kielbasa and cheese omelette. If you are going low carb, sliced tomatoes can be substituted for the hash browns that are served on the side. The polish plate is yummy! I always ask for fried onions to be served with the pierogies, it makes a good addition. The sauerkraut has good flavor, could use some onions as well. Great soups as well! I haven’t had the cream of mushroom soup there in awhile(don’t see it offered that often), but it’s got really great flavor. Definitely try it if it is available when you are there.

not bad or polish food outside hamtramck. i was really surprised when what i thought was a regular old dinner had a sign for paczki outside. i was even more surprsed when i sat down and a full polish menu was placed in front of me. the food was pretty good. the sausage, not as good as polonia nor was the dill pickle soup. the perogies weren’t as good as stan’s grocery. the stuffed cabbage couldn’t compare to krakus. all that aside. it wasn’t a bad meal and livonia isn’t that close to hamtramck. plus side. the paczkis were delish. apparrently they get them from a bakery in hamtramck. never had to go down this year. love, juston

The perogi & fresh kielbasa dish was very good. Don’t waste your appetite on the potato perogi — concentrate on the cheese and kraut – the best. My wife had the stuffed cabbage and said they were excellent. My sister-in law got the fried chicken and I took a taste – a little dry. If you really want polish food, go to Hamtramck. Still worth the visit!
