I had Crain install a new furnace, an air conditioner(the house never had an ac unit), and a hot water heater. From start to finish, it has been 5 star service. Jim was kind in dealing with the estimate process. The installers were hard working and wanted to do a great job. They were on the job for the entire day. Completely disappointed with the service. Called on Tuesday to have my furnace checked. The office told me I would receive a confirmation email noting the time of the appointment. After a couple hours, I still had not received it, so I called back and was given the appointment time and told that the confirmation would be resent. I never received it, but they did finally show up. They inspected the furnace and indicated that the blower motor needed to be replaced. The guy in training asked several times if the part was on the truck and the more senior technician indicated that it was not and that it needed to be ordered and they left. The next day I called back to the office to find out the ETA on the part and service call and the office had no idea of the result of my service call from the previous day. Once they communicated internally, they called back and wanted to schedule me for the next day. I practically had to beg to be put on the schedule for the same day and they did not agree until I told them that the furnace smelled like it was burning when turned on. The owner finally agreed to allow the service call to be scheduled. Once again I was told that I would get a confirmation of the appointment via email and again, it never arrived. Now for the obvious, of course I checked my spam folders — no email from Crain was ever received, so I was always unsure if the service call would actually take place. On day two of this, I decided to call another HVAC company and have them come out to inspect. They arrived within one hour of my call, inspected, went immediately to get the part and installed on the same day. The two man Crain team arrived during the other company’s installation, I told them I had not received their confirmation AGAIN and another company was completing the installation. My furnace was short cycling and the blower stopped working. I called at 10:45 and someone was out by noon. The technician was able to fix the problem. He was very knowledgeable and explained the problem and what he did to fix it. The technician was very nice and honest.

My furnace stopped working on Thursday evening. I called a local company I have used in Royal Oak, MI and received a call back withing 20 minutes. The guy was nice but went on and on about how I would save so much money if I would purchase an ongoing service plan. I finally told him I would think about it and call back in the morning. I called another company in Royal Oak and didn’t receive a call back. Twice. I took this as a sign to do some reading online before having someone out. That’s how I found Crain Heating. I called first thing Friday morning and had 2 guys here in a couple hours. Jason the manager and Derek in training. They were very polite, professional and explained everything about my furnace. They really took their time checking to be sure that everything was working safely and price was very reasonable. I feel very comfortable recommending this company and will use them again. In addition to doing a great job and everything that I listed above, they were also great with my dogs!
