Stay away from this place they are crooks. I went in to buy 2 cheap bottles of wine and a cheap bottle of brandy for a Sangria. I never shop in these small liquor stores, but being I recently had surgery and it was next to shop rite I decided to get my shopping out of the way. I left there and I had a hunch to check my reciiept. I was charged for a bottle of vodka and two extra bottles of wine. This fat older guy behind the counter is stealing from customers! When I confronted him he stated he made a mistake on the bottle of vodka. I gave him the benefit of the doubt on that one. But than he hit me on the bottom of the ticket 2 more times for the wine! The bottom line is this is the oldest scam in the retail world and what this fat guy didn’t realize is that I am a former law enforcement officer. What they do is they hit you up for more charges, in this case booze, hoping you don’t check your receipt, and than they pocket the cash from the register or take the FREE booze!!! If they get caught, like fat boy did, they play it off like he made a mistake and than credit back your account!!! Make sure you check your receipts and stay away from this place who are over charging customers anyway they can in order to stay open!

This place is definitely worth the stop. Should I be worried that they recognize me when I come in? Is that signs of a problem? LOL. Well, the place is conveniently located in the Shop Rite plaza, and I’m a New Yorker so I’m used to being able to buy beer and sometimes wine in the grocery stores… so this is a close second. The two men who seem to always be there are nice, informative, and even help carry your items to your vehicle. They have a great selection of inexpensive wines and have many specials. I find their prices comparable to the«big» stores in the area. This is my go-to and I’m not gonna change it!

I hit this liquor when I need to pick up one or two items or am food shopping. The prices are pretty good and maybe just $ 1 – 3 more than Bottle King if that. When I don’t want to deal with going all the way down S. Livingston Avenue, it gets the job done. They have a good selection and carry wines I enjoy that some other big box liquor stores don’t stock. Most recently, I found the entire SkinnyGirl cocktail collection in stock! Staff has always been friendly, but no one is going out of their way to help you. A draw back is finding a parking spot in the crazy ShopRite parking lot and they don’t sell ice. What liquor store doesn’t sell ice!!!

Wine Depot of Livingston is the 3rd iteration of a liquor store in this location. I suspect it will last as long or less than the other iterations. The place is kind of hard to move through given the way they laid it out and while it appears to be well stocked they just never seem to have what I want and I settle for something else. But their crowning achievement was last evening when I went in and bought an item for $ 9.99 and handed the fellow behind the counter my debit card. He said«people in this city use credit cards for the smallest things.» I asked him where he was from. He said«Jersey City, where’d you’d get a beating for using a credit card for something this small.» I suggested he go back to Jersey City. Needless to say I will not be back. I figure they’ll be gone by Christmas if they behave that way toward customers.
