I had to give a star to write a review. my friends and I really wanted a baked potato and we have a 35 minute lunch break, so we called dickies bbq pit for a pick up order. the woman we spoke to denied us our pick up order which consisted of solely potatoes and then hung up. this happened several times and then we called again off of another line to which she hung up again. terrible service, rude people

Dirty generic BBQ joint. Save your money and go downtown. Not much else to say other than«Don’t wast your time or money eating here».

Casual, fast-food barbecue restaurant chain located in a moderate-sized shopping plaza off N Vasco Rd, near Starbucks, Carl’s Jr, and a few other eateries. They offer a fair amount of indoor seating and parking is available via a large parking lot shared with the neighboring stores. Their meats are tender and flavorful(we especially like their brisket and pulled pork), sides are yummy, and portions are filling. Their prices are a bit high for ‘fast-food’, but reasonable considering the variety and quality of their meats. Service is also usually quick. I especially love the fact that they offer complimentary soft-serve ice cream + ice cream cones by their soda machine! :D

I came here for lunch by myself, and presented an Entertainment coupon(specific to this location) to the person that takes the food orders. The coupon said this«Enjoy one complimentary A LACARTELUNCH or DINNERENTREE when a second A LACARTELUNCH or DINNERENTREE of equal or greater value is purchased — Up to $ 10 Maximum Discount.» There’s no «entrees» on the menu, but they have meat plates and sandwiches. I wouldn’t have been able to eat 2 meat plates by myself, so I asked the person taking the orders if I could use this coupon for two sandwiches. She looked at the coupon for a while, and said that I could use it for 2 sandwiches. I ordered 2 Lil Hoagie sandwiches, which are the smallest sandwiches, and proceeded in the line to check out. The person working the cashier appeared to be the manager or owner, and told me that the coupon is only good for plates, and that I would have to order 2 plates. I told him that the order taker said it was okay for me to use it with 2 sandwiches, and that she had already made the sandwiches. In my mind, I was prepared to not use the coupon and just buy one of the sandwiches at full price, in which I would have felt guilty for having them waste one of the sandwiches. Then the cashier told me that I would either have to order 2 plates, or use the coupon for 2 Westerners(twice the size of a Lil Hoagie sandwich, about twice the price, and I don’t know if I could have finished both), which I was about to agree to, but then 2 seconds later he added that I had to order a drink. I told him that the coupon doesn’t say anything about a drink, and he said«I didn’t design the coupon.» I pointed out again that the order taker already made the sandwiches which they’d have to throw away, and that I’d be okay ordering the 2 Westerners, but I wasn’t going to get a drink, but the cashier then just walked away, and I left the restaurant and went to Carls Jr instead. I actually am grateful that the cashier wasn’t more friendly and accommodating, because if he had politely refused to take the coupon, I would have felt guilty for having them waste one sandwich, let alone both sandwiches. Now, I was able to leave guilt-free. If I were in his situation, I would have allowed the coupon to be used, and in the worst case scenario, politely explain that he’d be willing to do it just this one time because the coupon wording is ambiguous and that the order taker already allowed for it. He should have known that I would have left the restaurant if he tried to renegotiate the terms of the coupon by making me order a drink. I’m confused why he would want to lose out on a transaction and a customer, especially after already having used the food ingredients. Not only did they lose my payment, but they also lost the cost in the sandwiches ingredients, and hopefully didn’t serve them to the next customer.

The food isnt bad for fast food BBQ, but the service… C’mon man. It probably starts with the moron Arab dude that owns it. I might come back in a year or two. Hopefully he and his mongloid employees will be gone by then. Pass.

1 Stars purely on the fact that either the owner/district mgr/manager both sat at a table while one employee answered the phone, made orders, cashiered while their was 6 people in line. Never once did they get up to help or greet people walking in the restaurant. Hat tip to the employee for handling business like a pro. Took 15 minutes for us to order which was ok in light of the situation. Sat down to eat while the managers still sat there. More people came in, no greet. Good looking couple walks in, managers greet them… hmmmm.

This place should be a Classy BBQ lover but it’s not! First it look dirty, c’mon make money and clean, every single day. It’s your money maker, make it shine like your first ride. 2nd don’t hide what you are cooking, be proud or disappear. 3d, don’t give me those plastik silverwares that looks real, show me you respect me and let me use your mother silverwares. Anyway, it’s a quick fix. Clean, smile, cook for love, make money, attract people, be famous! Good luck

This is good food for a chain Barbecue place. Everything here is pretty good, but it lacks the«real deal» taste you would get from like a Shorter’s in Tracy. A bit pricey too.

Maybe this should be Zero stars! Unfortunately, this location has gone downhill since the change of ownership. On three occasions my coworkers and I have had a bad experience at lunch. This will most likely be my last visit. We always call in/web order because we only take a 30 minute break. Each time we’ve had to wait 15 minutes for them to correct mistakes made on our To Go order. Two of us have gotten the baked potatoes and each time there is barely any meat and the toppings are barely noticeable. For the price of the baked potato(over $ 10 with tax) there should be plenty of meat/toppings. I’ve read the other reviews of people complaining about the owner cutting corners, and I have to agree. The previous owners did it right and they had consistency with their employees. None of the employees from that time seem to be working at this location any longer. In the future, I’d much rather spend my $ 10 plus elsewhere.

The place to go for lunch if you want some Texas Style BBQ, I personally go for the Beef and Cheese Baker with all the fixing and a side of jalapeño beans. Now if you are on a budget they have their daily special which good too but I ussually stick with the Beef and Cheese Baker unless they sell out, so get there early for the stuff potato:)

The main menu items are good for the money. Try their Smokehouse Salad — really good. The sides are overpriced for what you get. We got there before the lunch crush. There was a very pleasant and knowledgeable employee taking orders and preparing the meat portion of each order.(Maybe they call him the«cutter»?) Meanwhile there’s a growing line of customers snaking around almost out the door. This guy cutting the meat was like the only one of about 4 or 5 employees that was really hustling to help customers. The others, including who might be the store manager, are just standing around oblivious to the fact that everyone in line is wondering why they aren’t working as hard as the cutter! From the time my order was taken it was another 10 or 15 minutes before the cashier rang me up. My lunch companions were nearly finished before I sat down. Speed things up folks! Iced Tea was nice and strong. It seems a shame to throw out so many of those«big yellow cups». I just hope the manager and other employees would hustle it up a bit. I’m sure they would get more regular lunch customers if they would speed up the process.

We got the family pack which is a choice of 2 meats, 3 sides, 6 rolls and the guy gave us free sodas. We had the beef and chicken and they were perfect. Very delicious. Their bbq sauce is very good as well. To top it off at the end you get free ice cream or make a root beer float if you like. Employees are nice and friendly and they helped us pick the best option since it was our first time. Will come back for more. There are also 2 big flat screen TVs so we watched the game while eating. They also have beer and they cater as well

This location is severely understaffed. I felt sorry for the two poor ladies who were seriously hustling. The one taking the order was trying to do the work of several people. My ribs were barely warmed up and the pulled pork was decent. The best part of the meal was the fried okra. Overall, if you want a lot of mediocre food at reasonable prices, this place may be fine.

Wonderful meal and best BBQ. We went out of our way to go on drive back from LA to Marin. Service amazing and Zach and his team went above and beyond to accommodate. My kids love the atmosphere and we’ll worth it and kids eat free on Sundays to boot. Loved the baked beans and fries fresh and crisp.

Used to go all the time. Walking distance. Kids used to be free every day. Which for a family on the budget made it worth it when ordering $ 10−15/each plates for me and my wife. But service dropped off earlier this year. Coincidentally when new owner took over. You connect the dots. Have been back one time with a local gruv deal which owner was pretty rude about not taking over my phone, that a print out was required Told him I don’t have a printer as its 2014 and I can pull everything up on my phone. He said he’d do me the favor this one time… I miss the old atmosphere and workers who used to be there. They were super friendly. Current ones not necessarily bad, just no personalities.

This place is going to hell/shit. I’ve been attending this location for more than a year and it has been steadily going into the gutter. Seems like they have a hard time keeping employees. No one really is 100% sure of what they are doing… at least when I’m there. Tonight’s visit had the toaster inoperable, so no buns could be toasted, uncovered sauce pots, so hair, body crumbs and bugs could just fall right in, and a broken down beverage display case that was covered up with a curtain. Wtf? Pride has exited store owners vocab.

Wow. What a waste of time and money. Long days drive, find Dickies near my hotel. Drive over with my son. First of all takes well over 10 minutes to get to the snot nosed punk with a smirk on his face cutting the meat. Confirm they can do ribs for the kids plate. He cuts two bones off and slathers them with sauce and fixes my pulled pork sandwich, mondays special. My sandwich was fine. I asked my son about his and he said it was cold? I felt the ribs and they were almost refrigerator cold? Took them up to «angel» and his first words were are the«dry»? I think insinuating they needed more sauce. I told him they were cold and asked him to just nuke them. Nope, he brings we what«appeared» to be two more ribs. I mean these things were like pork jerky. I was able to harvest a few bites, but as you can see in my picture, there just wasnt anything to harvest. I think angel must have seen me take a picture or my disgust so he brought us a roll!!! I showed him the meat and his response was they were about to close and«they dont keep there meat fresh this late». Well, thanks for the warning ahead of time angel. Will i come back? Nope. If angel is the owner of this franchise, there is no hope. If angel is not the owner, the owner should really look into his closing team because they suck. And that snot nosed punk cutting the meat needs to be careful, because he pull that shit with the wrong person he is gonna be in a world of hurt.

My friend really likes this place, and I have to admit I didn’t have the heart to tell her I just wasn’t in to it at all. This restaurant is like the crappy, boot-leg version of Kinders, and considering they are BOTH the same price, the food quality should have been a lot better. The criss-crossed fries tasted like something that had been frozen and microwaved… like those fries they sell at Safeway… and the sandwich was soggy and the meat was really bland, almost as if they had used no sauce at all. Sadly, the wait was not worth the food. I suppose the only redeeming factor was the enormous drink cup that you get. Looks like you could reuse it for more than one occasion, but I just threw mine out after.
