I also don’t understand the poor reviews. I live close to this restaurant and eat here frequently. I’ve never had bad service and I’ve never had bad food. In fact, the food is on par with the best sushi restaurants in Denver. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant! The waiters and chef were top notch. Just a little upset they didn’t offer the seafood sauce like most other hibachi places. Still 4 stars no doubt.

I’ve eaten here several times because my parents like it here but I don’t really like the food. Whenever I order something like chicken or steak teriyaki, it is way overcooked. I hate overcooked meat and mostly end up giving bits and pieces of it to my dog afterwards from my to-go box. The service is ok-ish. The last time I went to Hanabi I ordered a bento box to-go. I asked for it to be put into two separate smaller to-go boxes but the manager(maybe owner even) ignored my request because they had already put it together in one box. I don’t think this was an unreasonable request, especially when made to the owner. I would like to say I’m never going here again but when my parents invite me out for lunch I’m really not at liberty to suggest we go somewhere else. Maybe I need to try other items on the menu until I find something I can actually enjoy.

I love this place. Harry is the regular sushi chef. He does not eat sushi but he is pretty creative. Makes some really good stuff.

Dined here on a recent Saturday and there were some good things and some bad things about Hanabi. The service was AWFUL. It seemed they had one waitress covering the entire section of tables and as the dinner crowed came in the service got slower and slower. I ordered the sashimi entrée which was awful and it was supposed to come with a dinner salad, which I never saw. Nothing is worse the gritty raw fish. However, the spider roll was absolutely delicious and highly recommend I also ordered the Unagi, which was an afterthought and was placed after my original order. It took about 30 minutes to get to the table which seemed ridiculous… however, it was pretty tasty but t the wait was a bit absurd. I probably won’t be going back to Hanabi, and if I do it will be for the Hibachi. I will leave my sashimi eating to other places.

Actually like the openness of the restaurant. Each time I’ve been there was late(so no wait) and we only had sushi, not the hibachi. Friendly staff and chefs, clean and I personally like that they upgraded their lighting to LED lights to save energy, bonus. Sushi is tasty and reasonably priced. Ichiban roll is awesome, get one every time. 4.5 Stars, almost 5.

We decided to take the boys to Hanabi for Christmas Eve dinner, thinking the boys would enjoy(and remember) a hibachi experience. We were right, and overall we had a good family experience. The wait staff was friendly and service was efficient. Our chef was entertaining and cooked the items well. The boys really enjoyed watching him and thought the joking around was hilarious. They liked the food — well, except all those darn veggies(which I thought were delicious). They offer reasonable kid meals and have the Japanese soda drink with the marble(of course I can’t remember its name). So it was a real winner with my nearly 9 and 6 year olds. Hubby and I thought it was okay, if a bit expensive(to be fair we spent more on appetizers and drinks — for the kids — than we usually do). I ordered the seafood extravanganza — which included calamari steak, scallops and shrimp. The calamari was the weakest link. Hubby ordered steak and salmon, and that was all good. I think the sauces were a bit more flavorful at Gasho(which has now been replaced by the ReMax building in the Tech Center — wonder what happened to that old farmhouse?). Still, I would go back to Hanabi(probably for lunch), and I will know that I will get exactly what I expect — a fun time, entertainment for the family and a relaxed meal(most likely with Teriyaki sauce). As always, I loved the fried rice!

Food was very good. Service so so. They forgot to turn on the hibachi grill so the chef was flustered. He and the waiter seemed new. But good. I’d give it another shot!

The food here was your average teppanyaki fare and our chef was entertaining. What wasn’t entertaining was the slow, almost non-existent service from the two servers assigned to our table. They forgot my salad and it took them nearly twenty minutes to bring one out. At one point, the teppan chef had to step in(while trying to cook our food) and flag someone to refill our drinks. Don’t even get me started on how long it took to get our check. The worst part about this ordeal? Besides our half-filled table and another one across from us, this place was a ghost town. There was really no reason for the slow and crappy service.

Habachi at it’s best. I’ve seen the most talented habachi chef i’ve ever seen here. Really a great food. I’ve been here numerous times a enjoyed it everytime. Seriously though, I think the chef was a ninja.

Tuesday night and we arrived early at Hanabi, in advance of the fall snowstorm. We were welcomed and seated within 10 minutes, although the full bar made waiting a few minutes a pleasure. We ordered a sushi appetizer, spicy tuna, which was fresh and delicious. Service provided by Flip was excellent; his wine recommendation was the perfect complement to my food. Couldn’t pass up the blackened mahi and shrimp combo special for dinner. It was fabulously prepared by Juan, our cook. So was the steak and chicken combo with a choice of sauces. Flip brought us a couple sashimi choices to sample with dinner. We especially enjoyed the yellowfin tuna served with a slice of jalapeño. If you have concerns about service, go early on a weekday evening. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal or more prompt and courteous service.

I’m really surprised by the recent negative reviews of Hanabi; this is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants ever. I’ve had the hibachi dishes(although I’ve never eaten at the hibachi itself) and the sushi. If you sit at a regular table, they are happy to give you entrees from the hibachi grill. I have tried chicken, steak, and salmon on different occasions and enjoyed them all. If you go this route, definitely pick the ginger sauce for one of your dipping sauces– it’s excellent with everything. You can’t go wrong with the sushi either. On our last visit, the fiancé and I sat at the sushi bar and watched them work. Being a novice, i stuck with rolls and had the spicy tuna and spider rolls. The spicy tuna was excellent and some of the best I’ve had. The spider roll was delicious– you really can’t go wrong with tempura crab– but huge and very filling. I’d recommend it to share, not to attempt to eat by yourself. The sushi connoisseur in the relationship ordered several types of nigiri and loved them all, especially the white tuna. Because I am a lucky girl he let me try a piece, and it was great; I might be ready to advance to grown up sushi. We also tried the salads; I had the house and he had the seaweed(from the sushi menu) and both were great. Don’t let the suburban WalMart/CostCo parking lot location fool you. This is five star worthy.

This place used to be better, not so anymore, last night would probably be the last time I visit. First of all, the service is very slow, I think we’ve asked help from 3 people that walked by in addition to our waiter throughout the meal. He would forget a serving spoon, the dessert menu, our fried rice(which he mistakenly brought out soba noodle realized that wasn’t what we ordered, promised he would bring out the fried rice, and took 30 min to do so!) The hibachi is definitely overpriced, the taste doesn’t even compare to my home stir-fry. The sushi rolls are just so so. It’s just weird to eat warm sushi. I know some of the rolls we ordered are fried and cooked, but they could’ve at least chilled them before serving! We had two appetizers: the dynamite which tastes watered-down. The lettuce wrap is TERRIBLE! The diced meat had good color and when you first pop some in your mouth, it has a nice flavor but as you chew, it becomes tasteless! I think they forget to marinade the meat! One of the reasons I wanted to return here was to have their Raspberry Mango Cheesecake again, but that’s gone from the menu, in its place is just Mango Cheesecake with Raspberry sauce — NOTTHESAMETHING! The Green Tea Crème Brulee, according to the lady that might’ve been the owner, is unique. I admit I’ve never had Green Tea flavored Crème Brulee before, but theirs has an absolutely forgettable texture, which resembles failed egg custard. Thank God the Green Tea ice cream was on the house, it has a disgustingly green color that reminds us of food dye. The flavor wasn’t very pure either, tasted chemically treated, scary! The only considerably good thing I had all night was the side salad(came with the Hibachi dinner), slightly sweet, very fresh ginger dressing, and the way the cucumbers are sliced was pretty interesting, definitely made it more refreshing!

I got a rainbow roll and have never got one with just shrimp and salmon?! Hibachi was ok but the salmon was a bit overcooked. I don’t plan on returning. Maybe I’m just not a hibachi fan but I was hoping for at least halfway decent sushi.

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the Denver area. I love the food, drinks and the pleasant and soothing atmosphere. The sushi and hibachi grills are great. The hibachi grill is a cool, fun place to go with a date or group of friends to laugh and frolic. Yes, I like to frolic from time to time. I am also known to prance and revel… The unique drinks are great. They do many types of cold and hot sake. They also do great mixed drinks. Worth repeating… awesome mixed drinks. It is odd that the location is way over in Littleton in the far corner of the walmart parking lot. Do not let this fool you however… Excellent sushi place for sure. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is due to location.

Let’s be honest here: my husband and I went to Hanabi with some friends because we didn’t feel like driving all the way to east Denver or Broomfield to eat at Benihana. With that said, Hanabi was(to me, at least) surprisingly good. Hanabi offers hibachi grill service, like Benihana, in addition to sushi and other Japanese entrees. Everyone in my party ordered a hibachi dish for their entrée, and some ordered sushi for an appetizer. The sushi was very fresh, according to those who ate it. The miso soup was pretty good, although the ginger dressing on the salad was pretty mayonnaise-y, which I didn’t enjoy. The hibachi dinners were good, and our female chef was very entertaining. I had the shrimp and chicken with garlic butter and of course, a side of chicken fried rice. No complaints about the food – everything was well-seasoned and the serving sizes were just right. I think Hanabi is a good place for small and medium-sized groups. We had a lot of fun there and the food was a good value for the money. Since it’s a 5 minute drive from my house, I am sure we will go back.

Good food, worst service I have had in a year. Had to wait literally 30 minutes to get water at the table. Three separate request for an orange juice for my child. It was a real touch of class that table was not clean and sticky. Not to mention the 30 minutes I had to wait for the check. We arrived at 6 and left at 9:30. Go to another Japanese Steakhouse. The one in Aurora, by Joes Crab Shack is the Bomb.

This place has a nice setting. There are sit down tables and habachi setup. We chose the sit down tables and ordered sushi. The sushi was of average quality. Here are the 2 biggest reason for the ding in the ratings. The first that it was more expensive than average for average grade fish. The 2nd is that the sushi was cut completely wrong(it was cut along the grain) which made eating sushi more chewy. This is a cardinal sin because sushi chefs are supposed to be dedicated to learn how to cut fish. We didn’t try the habachi setup but it look like fun.

Good miso soup. The basic dinner salad is very tasty arrangement including mandarin oranges and red peppers. Much better than the normal salads you get at Japanese restaurants. The Hanabi roll was very good, basically shrimp tempura roll with asparagus draped with seared filet mignon. They were out of uni, but the yellowtail was good. A scoop of green tea ice cream for a very reasonable $ 1.50 topped off a fine meal.
