Cool little brewery shop! A bit off the beaten path, but the guys there were very helpful and knowledgable. The wife and I make our own beer and wine throughout the year, and this is one of several places we’ve gone to to pick up supplies and check out pointers/recipes. On this particular trip, we were looking for carboy stoppers and Argon in a spray can(to keep air off the Muscadine wine we’re making). They didn’t have the Argon, but they pointed us to where we could find it, and did help us find the perfect stoppers! Smallish shop, but well-stock for all home-brewing, home winemaking, and even some hydroponics stuff for keeping all those plants alive through the winter ;)

This new business is a welcome surprise. I discovered it after shopping at the nearby Kroger. Unfortunately, it was late at night, so we had to make a second trip. I went back on a Saturday morning when I had time to browse and«take inventory.» The store is divided into two sides. To your left is cheese, pickling, brewing, and wine making. To your right is hydroponics and aquaculture. For cheese makers, you’ll find forms, kits, cheese cloth and other common supplies on the first aisle on your left. Just past the cheese supplies are the pickling supplies. The Water Buffalo specializes in a unique mini pickling system using glass jars with rubber seals. Brewers will find beer yeast in the coolers at the end of the aisle as well as a long bench with dozens of bulk grains. Beer supplies fill the middle aisles which then give over to wine making towards the back left. I didn’t note anything missing and saw a few new items. Wine makers won’t be disappointed. Red Star wine yeast is stocked and I found a few varieties I’m not familiar with and anxious to try. A large number of wine concentrate is carried with most being fruit wine. We noted a Riesling Ice Wine concentrate on one low shelf. For the indoor gardener you’ll find everything from grow lights and both to small hydroponics systems. The water Buffalo plans to offer classes on cheese, pickles, brewing, wine making, and hydroponics. Make sure to leave your email or SMS number for future notices. Personally, I like the convenience of this store over their competitor on the other side of the river. I plan to be a regular for supplies. n
