Im in California right now wishing I could have a pork sandwich from Sims. My last visit to Arkansas was in 2005 and i ate at Sims several times on my visit as well as a previous visit back in 1997. It was the best bbq sandwich I’ve ever had. They dont have bbq out here quite like Sims. They should have online orders for their sauce. I would definitely order it!

This Bar-B Que place was okay. Their sauce is more on the tangy side. I ordered a pulled chicken but they only served chopped chicken to my disappointment but it was still fine. I wish they had rolls instead of just plain white sliced bread though.

Service was outstanding. I read a few reviews stating service was rude. On my visit the waitress was funny, friendly and helpful. I got a combo plate with ribs and link with potato salad and greens with cornbread. The sauce was a little thin and more vinegary than I am used to but it was still good. I can’t say that the meats were the best I have had but they were still mighty good. The sides were good and fresh. They have bottled beers in various sizes which is a bonus. Don’t go for the décor. Go for the food and service.

Does anyone remember that song in the 90’s Manwhich commercial, which goes something like this, «I don’t need me no bologna, I don’t want no ham and cheese, I want something hot and hearty, I want a Manwhich, please!» Well, my the new tune should go, «I don’t need no unsmoked meat, I don’t want no unsauced meat, I want something juicy and tender, I want a Simswhich please!» Sims did exactly that when it delivered our food. Let me paint you a better picture of what I ate. Recipe as follows: take two pieces of white bread, leave these pieces of bread face down and open before putting on a generous portion of smoked/chopped pulled pork and brisket on top of each piece of white bread, and finally drench both sides of the bread and meat combination with BBQ sauce. Though the actual«eating» of the Simswhich was messier than walking down an aisle at Wal-Mart, unlike Wal Mart, I did not mind the obstacles. On the downside of things, the two choices of sauces(regular or spicy) were tasty, but not spectacular. Fairly comparable to other well respected BBQ restaurants. Additionally, the sides were boring(Zzz…)! Let’s just say, Sim’s long ball is solid, it’s gonna get you 300 or more yards and good placement on the greens. Nonetheless, their short game underperforms. Putting themselves in difficult putting scenarios. Maybe time for a new putter? Sincerely, still toward the top of the leaderboard!

When I first moved to Little Rock I was excited that there was a barbecue place 2 blocks from my house. So I went there for ribs. There is a prominent sign declaring them the best barbecue in Little Rock. This wasn’t the case. They weren’t terrible but they weren’t the best in town. Nowhere close. So I didn’t go back for several years. Recently, I was hungry and trying to find something for dinner on a Saturday night so I decided to give them another try. The menu is pretty typical barbecue fare. Ribs, chopped pork, sliced beef, sausage, etc. I ordered a chopped pork sandwich. With tax, the sandwich was over $ 8. That seems a bit steep considering it doesn’t come with sides. Just a sandwich. I would expect an overpriced sandwich a mile away at the Rivermarket but this is on the corner of Roosevelt and Broadway. It’s a pretty run down low-rent district. The restaurant décor reflects the neighborhood: not well-decorated, dated, not very clean. The sandwich arrived looking really disappointing. It was a pile of chopped pork swimming in a very sweet sauce, sandwiched between two disgustingly soggy pieces of cheap thin white bread. If the pork was on a proper bun(and I don’t mean a cheap soggy white hamburger bun but something with a little body to it) it would be ok, but just ok. But instead, what was put in front of me was awful. There is no way to eat this as a sandwich because the bread if mush before it gets to you. Good bread sopping up sauce tastes yummy. Soggy white bread… not so much. I scraped off most of the mush that once was bread and ate about half the meat with a fork. It was edible but I have had much better barbecue in Little Rock. I have had better barbecue in that neighborhood. It’s safe to say that I will not return to Sim’s. There is no way that I will pay $ 8 for a pile of mushy white bread and too sweet barbecue ever again. It’s a shame because there are 2 decent bakeries close by where Sims could buy local buns to make their sandwiches a thousand times better.

Empire State Building to NYC, hot dog to Chicago, grape to wine, Sims to BBQ. After living years in NYC«the BBQ desert of America», Sims has quenched my thirst of smoked barbecued meats. Succulent pork and beef washed down with ice cold beer. The homemade secrete sauce has been a southern tradition in this park of Arkansas since 1937. The smoked fat will melt in your mouth and bring tears to your eyes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to feed their BBQ’ed hearts desire. The hospitality here alone, deserves five stars. Great staff paired with excellent food earns many repeat customers for nearly a century. When asking several locals about good BBQ in the area, they all raved about this place as if Sim was their favorite Uncle. I haven’t looked yet, but I’m sure this place has been visited by Culinary TV personalities documenting one of Americas one and true edible pastimes, BBQ.

Good food. Nice people. It appeared clean. I look forward to going back! I had the chicken dinner and I ate every bite. The neighboring tables had ribs. They looked very good. I think I’ll try them next time.

We love Simm’s. Their BBQ is always on point. We’ve eaten on location several times but also ordered food to go many times. What we eat: Smoked Sausage Ribs Pulled pork Collard greens So good. If you like southern BBQ, then Simm’s is the place to get it.

My favorite BBQ in Little Rock. The best ribs in the city! Definitely 5 stars. Their sauce is unique and is the perfect compliment to their ribs. In addition to the ribs, their chopped pork and smoked chicken are solid 4 star additions. In addition to the meat, one of the things they have that the others don’t is they have some of the best sides in town. Their potato salad is incredible as are their beans. Both homemade, not from Ben E. Keith. They also have Great service, Great sweet potato pie and a juke box that is one of the best in town! Highly recommend Sims to any BBQ lover.

Nom nom nom! What a delicious taste of the Arkansas BBQ scene! Don’t let the unassuming and unattractive exterior fool you — inside we were greeted by large smiles and a welcome! We opted to sit down for dinner, but by the looks of it — there are a TON of people who get take out from Sim’s too! My fiancé and I each got the dinner specials — meat plus 2 sides dishes. He got the ribs + beans + cole slaw and I went for the pulled pork + greens + potato salad(that way, we got to try all 4 sides). Oh, and did I mention it also comes with corn bread or white bread… all for $ 9.90 each? Score! The meat was flavorful and moist. The sauce(which is made in-house and available for purchase!) had just the tiniest amount of kick to it which was perfect. It seemed more tomato based(which was nice bc I was anticipating vinegar-based which isn’t my favorite). The beans were SO delish — my favorite side! I also love the creamy cole slaw too. We were sat and fed very quickly — all with a huge smile and some genuine southern comfort from the lady at the front desk(who was also very patient with us Northerners! :) Best part, too? You can get a beer — in sizes up to 22oz all for less than $ 4-$ 5. I’d say it’s quite the hidden gem and worth the detour!

Definitely one of the best BBQ I’ve had. Clean little hole in the wall with great service, doesn’t get any better.

We had three in our party and all tried different dishes. We were told the ribs were excellent. Of the three dishes, each was mediocre at best. The sliced beef didn’t have a smoke ring which is usually full of flavor. It was thinly sliced… with the grain. Very odd! Almost paper thin. The sausage was bland. I tried one piece and quickly forgot about it. I didn’t try the pork, but was told it wasn’t anything special. Everyone was very nice. Place was clean and service was good. Just didn’t like the bbq. We travel across the SE quite a bit and always try bbq joints. We have our favorites, but always enjoy trying something new. Disappointing!

Sim’s IS Little Rock BBQ! When I moved to Little Rock I was told Whole Hog Café was the place to go — award winning meat and sauces, but someone also told me about Sim’s! Sim’s is a little whole in the wall joint — three different locations throughout the city, however I prefer going to the one on Broadway because it’s closest to where I live. Yes there are bars on the windows, décor isn’t anything to look at, but as I always say — the crappier the look, they must care about the food… ANDTHEYDO! I’ve gotten both the ribs and chicken here(both at a reasonable price might I add). For me, BBQ isn’t BBQ without BBQ sauce and Sim’s does it right. It’s a vinegar based sauce with some sort of brown sugar and spice mixture, all I know is that I could drink it. The ribs are fall off the bone — granted there’s a lot of rib-tips mixed in with your order of ribs that shouldn’t deter you from eating Sim’s gift to the earth. The chicken is actually extremely delicious too — fall off the bone, same sauce, same delicious. You’ll want to use that white bread they give you to sop up the sauce(if there’s any left). As for the sides I generally stick to the beans and slaw. Beans are some of the best baked beans I’ve ever had. Sweet sauce, somewhat similar to the BBQ sauce but different. Their slaw is also very good. I’ve also had their greens which are good if you like greens, nothing fancy but nice greens. Their potato salad on the other hand left something to be desired. Waitstaff can be short during busy times, but they’re as sweet as can be when they come to take care of you. The only truly horrible thing that ever happened to me at Sim’s was when my friend and I went there and there were no more ribs left(apparently they only order so much). The only reason it was so bad though is because I love their ribs soo much! They suggested we go to another one of the locations — we did — it was still great. Visiting Little Rock? Go to Sim’s! Live in Little Rock? Why haven’t you been to Sim’s yet?

Have these folks lost their minds??? Four and Five stars for something I can get from the everyday backyard??? Chopped pork so fine that you can suck it through a straw, then add the vinegar based sauce just to be able to get the dry meat down. Now the ribs, the bones drop out to leave you with dry meat and more cartilage than a shark has in it’s body. Now let’s go to the store bought sweet potato pie… no on second thought lets not…

I stopped through here for lunch with my boyfriend during a road trip. The building does not look like much, bars on the windows and doors and all. However, inside it was pretty clean and organized. The staff could tell we hadn’t been there and they are very friendly and helpful. We were able to sit down to eat and it was quiet and relaxing. I had a beef plate with greens, beans and cornbread. The beans were amazing and the beef was well seasoned. My boyfriend had ribs and was in heaven, they were very tender and needed no additional sauce/seasoning. Sims was a nice find in Arkansas.

Being from NC, I have certain expectations when it comes to BBQ, and this place didn’t let me down. It feels a little sketchy when you first walk in and see signs about removing ski masks and bandannas, but our visit was incident free. We spilt an order of the ribs(enough for 2 people, and it comes with white bread, which you will want to use to soak up the delicious sauce) and got sides of BBQ beans and collars greens. The small sides aren’t really enough to share, but they do offer larger options. The sauce on the ribs was perfect, vinegar based, which makes me happy, but not too runny. Next time I’m in Little Rock I will be sure to include a stop at Sims.

I’m all about this place. This is a great place to bring NYC friends to give them a heaping spoonful of southern culture. It’s a place where you can eat with your old country parents or grandparents. It’s a place where you and your man can sit down and eat a hearty meal and talk about getting shit done at the Home Depot this weekend. There is always ample parking, but it’s within walking distance of a lot of neighborhoodies, so that’s nice for them/us. You walk in through doors with extra protection on them, but I’ve felt safe on my visits. My first visit was to check out the place in person and get take-out. The waitress was helpful in estimating how much take-out food I needed exactly. She even fixed me a lemonade to go. The bar-b que is delicious. Sides are delicious. Portions are large. Take-out portions were ample and eat-in plate was a lot of food. I really enjoy the atmosphere. It’s casual and tables are spread out enough that you can carry on a productive conversation. Usually I have the ribs, but the chopped pork is excellent too. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of their juicy meats. Prices are excellent!

Always looking for good bbq. This place was great! Ordered the full slab and three sides and was shocked at the large portion sizes. Ribs were smoked perfectly and included the rib tips. Sauce had a good balance between sweet and tangy, and thin consistency allowed for just the right amount to stick to the meat. Even though the counter person was also the waitress, the service was prompt and polite. Not the fanciest place in town, but very clean. Suggested by a guard at the Clinton Presidential Library who said the the prez was a regular.

So you have 24 hrs to live? Well guess what, Sims BBQ should make your itinerary. If we had to pay for our food on the honor/merit system I would easily pay quadruple the price. I’ve lived all over the states and overseas. Eaten in many many bbq joints. This place is just amaze-balls.

OUTOFRIBS! I was a weekend visitor to Little Rock and read about Sim’s. This was the closest location to where I was staying. Not sure what we wanted to order apparently pissed off the server who told us she would not continue to walk all the way over to the table if we weren’t ready(maybe she was joking, but still inappropriate). We later found out she had been working all day, because another server was fired that morning. We ordered one of their advertised specials displayed on the table, a rib plate with two sides. We waited a while, then another young lady approaches the table and says… «we outta ribs, sorry»… WHAT? It was only 8pm! Why didn’t our server tell us that, or why didn’t she come back? So I grabbed my sweet tea and walked out the door! We went to the location at 7601 Geyer Springs Road, and enjoyed the food there… so Sim’s BBQ is good, but this location gets a #fail.
