The fried chicken is so damn good. It does have a nice kick to it though… but I like it. The service is hit or miss but this definitely another good option if you are looking for something different from KFC. You will have to pay up a little more for the chicken compared to other places — So keep that in mind. I love their chicken!

We have been to both locations in Little Rock. The food was equal in quality. The difference was the better parking and service here. We will continue to come here in the future. We like it.

We arrived around 12:30. The place was mostly empty. Maybe 6 other customers siting at various tables. We were greeted by a young lady towards the kitchen area. She yelled if we were dinning in we could sit anywhere. So we did. Since this was our first visit we took some extra time checking out the menu. I ordered a 2 piece white plate. My wife and daughter shared 2 pieces of dark and a medium fry. My son went for chicken strips with Mac n cheese. Wife and I got water and the kids sprite. $ 2.50 for drinks is ridiculous but seems to be the going rate. The chicken came out within 10 min. It looked really good on the plate. My sides of cole slaw and beans looked nice as well. The food did not taste as it appeared. The chicken was way way over spicy. If your going to make chicken this spicy hot there should be an option of no seasoning. I can’t believe this is how the chicken is supposed to be. Since I’ve never been to another location I have nothing to compare it to. I just know that I’ve eaten plenty of hot spicy food in my day and this chicken was the kind of spicy that isn’t good eats. Sides we ok. My slaw was definitely from a pre-made container. It was ok. The beans were decent as well. The fries were hot and fresh and good as well. The mac n cheese looked homemade and my son seemed to like it. His chicken strips had an off flavor to me but he said they were«alright» All and all I will say that we won’t be back. The service was good and the sides ok but the main attraction was supposed to be the chicken. Due to the heavy spice It was not enjoyable to eat.

I’m a bit torn about my review. The chicken is fabulous. The sides are fabulous. The Michael Jackson music in the back ground is fabulous. Take out is fast and fresh. The brunch is a bit… Less than fabulous. There are 3 food items on the brunch menu and they don’t have regular coffee creamer. My suggestion is stick to the lunch/dinner menu and you can not go wrong!!!

I tired this place in Memphis and was excited when I saw there were two in little rock. I wish that I would have tired the other location. I will give it that my waiter was only three days new. The restaurant was fairly empty. Maybe four other tables were occupied, and it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The people that came behind us had their before us. So I went ahead and paid for my food because we had about an hour before we needed to get to another appointment. We put in to go boxes and ate in the car. The chicken was amazing as I remember. I tried the fried pickles and I loved them!!! Mac and cheese were cheesy. Just like i like them. The only thing I would change would be the service.

Somehow this place is considered«world famous.» Personally I make better fried chicken in my kitchen. You’ll find several things that bother you when coming to this location. First is the service. Your food always takes an extraordinary amount of time and you’ll feel like your often forgotten about. Secondly, the chicken meal combos are exactly the opposite of what your wanting. You want 2 legs & a thigh? They have 2 thighs & a leg meal. Ive never been a fan of this place but today our overall service and experience has been extremely sub par; which has become the norm here. Mind you I’m writing this review before we’ve even gotten our food. I won’t be coming back here if I can help it.

Having grown up eating at the original Gus’s in Mason, TN, I’m hard pressed to say that the franchised is as good. There was something about the plywood floors in the old shotgun house, drinking beer from quart bottles and sweating like a stuck pig because the AC barely worked. The recipe is the same, but the ambience doesn’t touch what the original restaurant brought to the table.(Pun intended). I recommend the food here. It’s worth the experience to say«I’ve eaten at Gus’s». But if you’re a foodie, get in the car, drive to Memphis. Get on summer ave and head out of town for about 30 miles. When you get to Mason, TN, it’s on the right. BYOB.

The chicken is excellent. Has a nice kick to it that was very yummy. I heard they have catfish on Monday/Tuesday and I will be going back to try it. The mac & cheese tasted like it was boxed and not real. As did the mashed potatoes & gravy. We won’t be ordering those again. I did enjoy the slaw, however. Next time I will try the fried pickles! The service was wonderful.

Excellent fried green tomatoes. Crispy outside, green and fresh tasting inside. Also has a nice atmoaphere with plenty of screens to keep up with the game

If you are in the area definitely come eat here. The chicken is delicious. By far the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had!!! The chicken is fresh, the ranch dressing is good. I will be back!

The worst service I have ever had anywhere. There were only two customers in the whole restaurant and I sat there for over 10 min without even getting my drink order taken. This was after I waited for someone to even greet me. Save your time and money and go to Slim Chickens. It’s only 1 mile down the road and has a drive through.

Gus’ fried chicken… my daughters flew in from New York & stopped at Gus’ fried chicken on their way to the an event in 2014. They talked about the food, but they had a great time with their servers. I read some of the reviews & was a little cautious to go to Gus’ Famous Fried Chicken because of the comments on their service. My husband & I found the comments to be very wrong. From the instant we sat down, we were greeted by a delightful young lady. I truly believe she was born smiling… Every server that came by our table was courteous & extremely polite. We flew in from Sacramento California to attend a golf fundraiser in Mississippi… Because of our daughters experience with this restaurant we had to try it and glad we did. The waitress just told us she was glad we stopped by to eat with her. We were very happy & content when we left.

The food is the same quality as the one in the River Market. The difference is that the service on Bowman road is excellent. We went with family and they enjoyed it as well.

If you are easily overwhelmed by too many«weird» menu choices, don’t mind being over weight with high cholesterol, inflammation and like eating unhealthy food that you don’t want your doctor to know about then Gus has a plate for you. My wife and I tried this place with our 16 year old son and we all vowed to never go back. My son is a chicken tenders expert and he found Gus doesn’t do chicken right. If you must eat greasy fried salty food that keeps us at number 49(thanks Mississippi) then go to a real chicken place like Popeye’s. You come out with more money and you have at least a couple of healthy choices.

I stop in and get a «to go» chicken about once every month or so. I LOVE the chicken, but the sides are«just okay.» Good selection of beers.

Great service & absolutely phenomenal chicken. Their BBQ baked beans are some of the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this delight of a dining experience.

I’m going to give three stars for the service which was excellent and the décor which was nice. The food well that’s a different matter. The Good: The chicken(hopefully). Couldn’t say why it’s «famous» though. Dusted with flour and spices and fried to a reddish golden brown that was delicious. The greens. The prices. Two with appetizer and tip around 30 bucks. The Bad: Fried pickles were from a bag(they were spears though for those that are a fan). Mac and Cheese was way overcooked and cold which left the sprinkling of cheese sprinkled on top stringy and oily. The Ugly: The tenders were a complete mess. Covered in a oddly colored batter that was to dense and under cooked leaving it chewy(not in a good way) and gummy.

We love Gus’s fried chicken but the bowman location has a lot to be desired. The waitress we had would check on every table but ours often having us raise our hands to get service. The wait staff also seemed more interested in talking with each other than running up ticket prices, and tips. The chicken tenders were overcooked and tough. The wings had all the meat cooked off. The Mac and cheese was not even warm enough to melt the shredded cheese on top. If this location is to survive they need to step up the service and cook the food betted. The GM for this location was nowhere to be found both times we have eaten here. Last time we will spend our money here.

I’m torn writing this review… there were things I loved about Gus’s and things I wasn’t pleased with… so we will go with a three star rating for my first visit, but I will definitely give them another shot. Located in the now deceased Buffalo Grill location it’s close to home and tastefully decorated, with enough changes that I don’t feel like I’m in the old BG. First, the ugly. I hate it when a restaurant hostess seats our family of five at a four top(pulling up a fifth chair). It’s not fun to eat on top of each other. I forgive it when a restaurant is busy, but when I eat at two in the afternoon and they’ve got not one, but TWO, open six tops right beside us, well, that makes me testy. Then as we sit practically in each others laps, we twiddle our thumbs and wait a good ten minutes for our waiter. At least he was apologetic, but I never warmed up to him(later he forgot one of our sides, and then couldn’t find a pen for us to sign our bill) My other HUGE beef(haha) with Gus’s was that I wasn’t overly impressed with their signature item – the hot and spicy chicken. Now it was good, but I’m from the deep South, and to me, it just wasn’t spicy. I think if you are going to call your restaurant the home of spicy chicken, it should have some KICK! But on to the good. I liked the sides – the beans did have a nice kick, the fries were seasoned well, and the cole slaw was just how I like it – creamy and sweet. I was in southern fried heaven with the fried pickles(spears, which beat slices hands down!) They had a variety of other menu items I wanted to try – including the fried green tomatoes and all the desserts(chess pie!) so thats worth another trip for sure. And I was impressed that our family of five ate a filling meal for $ 35. That’s rare these days. Overall, decent first visit with room to wow me next time!
