Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

Another wonderful late lunch at Cheddars! Hostess was friendly and welcoming and our preferred server, Ms. Cartrie, is always tops! She is friendly, warm and welcoming, very efficient and the best server you can ever hope to have! She truly wants you to enjoy good food and to have a great experience.
I always have the lunch portion grilled salmon over rice pilaf and two baked potatoes. Today, my husband had a cup of baked potato soup and a cheeseburger. The food was delicious, as usual. We are always happy to enjoy a meal at Cheddars, thanks to Cartrie’s excellent service and the wonderful food. Our bill before tip was under $ 20.

Service was very good. I had the New Orleans pasta bowl, and it was very good.
My wife had a shrimp dish which also good. This is a popular place in Little Rock.

Waited two hours for lunch and it never came. It took 15 minutes for a wait staff to greet our table, then after ordering it was 30 minutes and the food didn’t arrive. We inquired and they said it was on the way. We sat and waited, were told time and time again that our lunch was on the way. Food never arrived. Restaurant was not busy. Asked to please speak to the manager on duty. Was promised he was coming to talk to our party of six. He never came. We left after 2 hours, 8 minutes. While we sat and waited, a staff member came to tell us that there is a «drug problem» with employees here. That was bizarre.

Being someone that has worked in restaurants their whole life I really dont like giving bad reviews but I just cant give this Cheddars anything but that. I have been to this location quite a few times now and theres always a long wait for a table whether it be for the bar area or in the dining room section. I don’t understand why it’s so busy when the prices aren’t cheap and everyone complains about the service guess it’s just because of the location and I’m guilty of this, I still return knowing that the service and food is never going to be anything special. I always end up ordering a steak which is either completely raw and I don’t mean rare I mean raw to the point where you would get very sick from eating it or well done. I always order medium rare. I know what medium rare looks like and ive yet to recieve it. The drinks are a hit or mess but you can guarantee that you’re going to be waiting a good 20 minutes before you get your drink. I always order my second when the server buts my first down on the table because of how long they take. My appetizers always come out after the meals.
I could go on and on but I think you get the point.

Worst service ever! Drinks… 20 minutes… Food 1 hour… Anything in between ask at last 3 times for it.
Birthday? Don’t go here they don’t do a thing for it! No desert no singing no nothing just a your check!
All in all food was good… service awful!

we had waited for several minutes but the waitress who gave us the menu earlier never came back to check us out if we we’re ready to order or even a drink.-:((((we walked out, too bad you lose our good tip!

I’m always traveling around the nation for my employer and every city I stay in I always look for a Cheddar’s to satisfy my hunger. I love everything about Cheddar’s. The employee’s always seem happy and the food comes out quickly. The food is typically fresh and delicious. My favorite menu item are those soft flakey honey buttered crescent rolls. This Cheddar’s however was extremely disappointing. Here’s why:
1. We waited 45 minutes to be seated even though there were many empty tables.
2. Our table was filthy and sticky when we were finally seated.
3. It took 20 minutes before we could order our drinks (we both had sweet tea).
4. It took an additional 20 minutes to get our tea, which was room temperature and had hardly any ice. We were parched so we drank them quickly. *waited another 20 min for a refill**
5. It was 30 min by the time we’d sat down to the time we ordered. I ordered a steak with steamed broccoli and a Caesar salad. My business partner ordered the same thing and an extra order of those delicious crescent rolls.
6. One hour after ordering, staring at our empty glasses we decided we just up and leave but then the food arrived and our glasses were refilled. (This was not a
busy night)
7. The steak was way over cooked, the broccoli was bland and in seasoned and the honey butter looked like it was squeezed out of a ketchup bottle.
8. Our waitress was extremely rude and dismissive the entire time.
There are many other reasons why this Cheddar’s receiving one star but I think I’ve said enough. This has not change my opinion about the franchise and I will still continue to eat Cheddars every chance I get. But I will never ever return to this establishment.

I had the half club sandwich with a bowl of potato soup and a house salad. Food was excellent with the exception of the salad. It was room temperature and that is not good in my book. However it did come with a warm crescent roll with honey butter so that made up for the salad some. The sandwich was fine but the potato soup was excellent.
Service was okay. My soup and sandwich came but no salad. I was about 5 minutes into my lunch when the salad arrived. It was about 1:30, not crowded at all and my server seemed a little overwhelmed.
I’d give this visit a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 and I will visit this Cheddar’s again

I’m not sure why this place had such bad reviews. Cheddar’s never fails to amaze. The food is great and very, very affordable for the large portions you get. Same with the drinks. Just always a safe bet.

5 disappointing visits since I moved here a few months ago. Service is terrible every single time. 20 minutes to get a beer, 45 minutes still no food. I’m ready to walk out

No customer service from the bar staff! Both the bar girls were too busy carrying on a conversation to do their job! No money spent at this establishment.

If I could give Cheddar’s zero stars, I would. The general manager, Norris Samuelson, was completely rude and awful. He doesn’t know how to treat customers and shouldn’t be working in a service industry. Very unprofessional. I hope Corporate gets involved, many customers have complained.

Moved to LR a year ago and only recently tried Cheddars. Since that date, I’ve been here three additional times. I enjoy the menu variety and the meal choices. Quality of meals was surprisingly very good! Nice portions. Service was fine. My wife really enjoys the Grilled Whitefish, and again, she needed a To-​Go box as the portions were generous. I enjoy the chicken and shrimp, with a nice choice of sides. I’ve also tried the varied chicken salads, always good! We treat ourselves to the warm croissants for appetizers… yum!
Lastly, Cheddars was open on Christmas Eve and was a great place to take our son who flew into town from college. Thank you to the Cheddar employees for serving on Christmas Eve, we appreciate you!

I like to take the croutons from my salad and mash them up and put it in their sweet tee. They ain’t got them cheesy biscuits like the lobster but the honey biscuits will rock your nuts off. I intentionally knocked my salad in the floor so I could check out the waters ass but he left it there the entire meal so only 3 stars cuz of the lack of cleanliness. Long island tea will get you swervin on the drive home so don’t get more than 6 or 7 of them.

To be honest I like the food at cheddars. I’ve yet to have anything bad. They have a great variety for everyone and huge portions for a decent price. Drinks are also cheap compared to anywhere else you go.
My last trip here Matthew (Matt) waited on us. He was awesome and outgoing!

Do not repeat do not go here. Service was terrible waited for cold food, couldn’t even eat the cold food because I didn’t have a fork with my knife. I Talked to the manager basically he was like it’s Friday and what I can do for you is limited! Even the people behind my table had a terrible experience!
This place is a waste of time if you come at night.!!

I’ve been to several cheddar restaurants and LOVE their food and atmosphere. Service is good/​poor anywhere, anytime. You can have sucky waiters at your fave place. It just happens.
But today, was an excellent day! Our waiter, Jonathan, was awesome!!! Anyone who had a bad experience clearly did not have him. He was professional, friendly, and accurate. Our food came out on time, hot, & exactly as ordered. Plus delicious! I got the steak with baked potato & mac & cheese. Mom got the baja chicken. For dessert we got the chocolate chip bread pudding (TO DIE FOR!!!) and the cheese fries appetizer. All of it was delicious and we didnt have to wait to be seated.
I will absolutely come here again! The prices are good and the food is comforting.

Okay, so contrary to the many negative post, I love this place. I can get an amazing, and healthy, meal here for am amazing price. The place looks expensive but it really isn’t at all. This is the second time I’ve been and I got the salmon with ginger rice and the spinach dip. Perfectly sized portion for me and even had leftovers. My dad and husband went as well and the waitress brought a small salsa for anyone who didn’t want spinach dip. My dad got the Cajun pasta, I’ve had it before, and loved it. Again, great price and you get so much that he had leftovers. My husband got their bbq burger and thought it was great.
I see a lot of people complain about the wait staff but I’ve never had a problem. This place is always busy so unless you go around 2 – 4 (their down time) you have to understand the wait staff is extremely busy with more than just one or two tables. Our waitress was friendly but not overly so where it’s uncomfortable. She answered questions and made sure we were taken care of. One plus for me and my family is she wasn’t constantly hovering over us. We take the time to talk and relax while we eat and liked that she gave us time for that. We also never had to look for her for anything which meant she was doing her job of taking care of us.
I keep in mind that everyone expects different things with customer service, which is why I clarified why we enjoyed the service, but people can give the wait staff a bit of a hard time with little understanding. Is it the best service we have ever received or best meals, no. But it is a place we enjoy where we get good meals at a good price and know we will be treated well. If you want 5 star service and food, go to a five star restaurant. This place has plenty of satisfied, repeat customers.

Cheddars does not face straight on to University and the sign is not visible from University, so if your are not familiar with the restaurant, you might drive by without realizing it is there. They have a Fair amount of parking. Entrance faces University Mall. Friendly, upbeat Waiters are at the door to greet you, we were seated immediately. Our server introduced himself (Donald) and took our drink order. That is when the welcome mat stopped. I requested water with lemon. I received plain water. My sister order water and was given my water with lemon so it was easy to just switch. When I unrolled my silverware to place my napkin in my lap, I noticed dried food still on my fork so I requested clean silverware. I received clean silverware but not in a very gracious manner. He did come back and check on us after we received our order. One positive here, the napkins are large and very thick. For and appetizer we ordered onion rings, they arrived hot and in a timely manner. For our main meal, my sister ordered the vegetable plate. You get to select 4 items from the veggie menu plus a soup and bread. She requested the loaded baked potato soup and a croissant. The soup was hot and had nice big chunks of potatoes, the croissant was brushed with honey butter. I ordered the chicken fried steak, serving sizes are huge and you don’t leave hungry. I agree with the other reviewers, the food is good but the service could be improved. I would come back for the food, I just wouldn’t go out of my way to get there if there is another choice with better service.

This place was the worst! I complained until I was so mad I left! The rudest servers! The food ok but not wort their service and staff!!! I will never go back there and I suggest you not give it a try!!! I will be reporting this pathetic excuse for a restaurant! OMG! Does not deserve 1 star !!!

This place was ok. I got a chicken salad, and it was clearly ‘assembled in plate’ a long time before i ordered. Probably could have gotten the same thing at the grocery store.
The facility itself was relatively nice — clean and slick.
Our waitress has a lot of pizazz — serious personality — which I had mixed feelings about. She continuously reminded us about how to spell her name — kind of odd!

The Cheddars in the DFW area are Awesome. This place was horrible and the side orders were cold.

I guess I had to give them a one star… order a side salad with my meal and I received a surprise in my salad a paper with a red dot where it comes from a container where they store the food in the cooler… waiters eating at the stations and texting on their phones… this is the most horrible place to eat. All they wanted was to take off my bill was the 2.49 for the salad. I chewed the paper…

Service is the worst, I forgot until I sat down why we haven’t been here in about 5 months. I would recommend you save the time and go elsewhere. The food is not anything you can’t get at a different place.

The people giving great reviews MUST work here bc I’ve been at least 10 times and cringe when someone suggests we go the due to proximity.

First time here and the last. After waiting at our table for 15 minutes a couple of wait staff stood at our table, backs turned, and argued about whose table it was.
The service had many opportunities for improvement. I ordered the Asian salad and my husband chose the lemon pepper white fish. We started with the ultimate nachos.
The nachos arrived and were ok and within 5 minutes our main course. The salad was swimming in dressing. The salad so limp and not a dry morsel on the plate. Hubby said the fish was ok though.
Mediocre food. Poor service. There are too many alternatives to risk another meal here.
