Rita’s Italian Ice

Italian Ice? Not sure if it’s made the traditional way, but it sure is good. When it’s 90 degrees in Jersey, which definitely happens from time to time, there’s nothing more refreshing than Rita’s. My favorites are the original lemon and the mango. Haven’t had the frozen custard, but I hear it’s awesome.

Delicious frozen custard, good service… I’m not sure why I thought it was a healthy treat though! I checked when I got home and was sad. But for an occasional treat, very good stuff!

Someday in the future someone is going to stop in their tracks and have a revelation. «Why don’t I blend amazing Italian ice flavors, with custard, and mix it with chocolate or candy treats. Then I shall call it THE BLENDINI!» Wait a minute this combination already exists. Oh that’s right Rita’s Italian Ice store serves up some great summer treat. There is nothing better on a hot summer day than getting out of your car and ordering a nice refreshing treat from Rita’s. Their Italian ice is just superb. But if you want to take it to a whole new level then go for the Blendini and you won’t regret it. The store is a typical Rita’s store (basically a window to place and get your order from) but it is part of a building that has a restaurant next to it. They have a patio with a couple of chairs to sit in and just melt the world away. Rita’s lives up to their motto «Ice-​Custard-​Happiness» and after visiting numerous times I’m certainly Ice-​Cube happy!

If it didn’t have a million calories in the custard and ice (forgot the name). I would have 5 a day. Haven’t had a flavor I didn’t like

And it sure rains a lot in New Jersey. Even during the summer. Besides the typical flavors, there is also Fudge brownie and mint chocolate chip. The taste of mint chocolate chip with the texture of an icee. And a regular cup is under $ 3 dollars.

Like all Rita’s locations, they serve great Italian ices. Or should the mood strike you, try a Gelotti with your choice of Italian ice flavor and your choice of custard. Or they’ve got the latest — Blendini. Italian ice blended with Oreo or Nilla Wafer mix-​ins and your choice of custard flavor. The possibilities are endless!
And like any smart entrepreneur, you want to set up shop in a popular, well traveled location. Unfortunately, because it is on Main Street in Little Falls, you get everyone and their mother driving by. So how many times have I had to slam on my breaks because little Johnny begged his Mom to stop and get him an ice? More times than I’d like to remember. And also given the fact that it is across the street from Quik Chek, you can bet many of the high school kids that originally hung out in the QC parking lot are now migrating over to Rita’s. So on a nice summer day, forget about even attempting to go unless you enjoy standing in line — or rather, enjoy trying to GET into line by pushing your way through all the people that feel the need to hang out in front of the ordering window once they have gotten their sweet treat.
But would that really stop me from going to get an ice when I want one? No way! I just wait until 5 minutes before closing time for a fast & hassle free experience! ;)
