Mable’s Barbecue & Smoked Meats

I visited Mable’s again today. I had a chance to try the Brunswick stew. Now you can argue over the stew, but at the end of the day it was good. Yes, somebody is a lazy chef who doesn’t like to chop or use a food processor because there should be no chunks of celery in the stew. But like I said, it was a tasty bowl of stew so… maybe they just like celery. And that corn bread was delightful. Slightly sweet, but not too much so, with bits of cooked corn in it. Tasty indeed.
I had an opportunity to actually taste the spicy sauce as they did not pre-​dress my ribs in the mild sauce. I stand by my earlier statement that they should call these sweet or vinegar. I loved the vinegar (a.k.a. spicy) sauce, but there is nothing spicy about it. It had a sweet and sour tone to it, it just isn’t spicy. So don’t call it spicy. And if you’re going to give people some sauce in cups, at least fill them up half way? I recommend that if you are ordering to go, you get as many cups of the sauce you can because they are only about ¼ full.
Short, I may make that stew a regular dinner habit as it was just that good. Here’s to second chances. And to Mable’s BBQ and Smoked Meats.

We ordered 2×4 rib platters (each comes with 2 small sides & 2 slices of Texas toast for $ 12.99)
Next time we will order the family platter $ 34.99 and have enough leftovers for 2 more meals! (Very worth the price)
Sides are a little smaller than I hoped for but they are so good it’s forgivable!
The broccoli cheese casserole is an absolute must try in my opinion, I don’t think I’ll ever eat here without having that casserole!
Mac & cheese, baked beans & potato salad were all definitely above average!
& the lemonade was perfect :)

We have had the BBQ beef sandwich platter and chIcken platters, twice. Great tasting food and friendly service are found here.
There have more than the usual vegetable choices here, such as black eyed peas, rice pilaf, broccoli and cheese casserole, yams, pinto beans and rice, spinach and rice casserole, Mac and cheese, and best cole slaw that I have had anywhere. Some sides come with a piece of corn bread.
This is a small place with seating for about 12 folks. Mable’s has been busy every time that I have visited here. So be prepared to get take out.
