Thank you so much for our beautiful wedding cake, it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed it! The buttercream was amazing as was the rest of the cake lol.

Hot pretzel rolls are insanely good and for $ 20 you can get three small cakes(cannoli, strawberry shortcake, chocolate, etc.). Plus they do breakfast.

Had placed a very last minute, same day, cake smash order for my sons birthday photos and they were able to customize the cake even better than the picture provided without hesitation. Cake was waiting for me when I arrived! Have had years of great cake experiences from my wedding cake to my children’s birthday cakes. The design has been spot on and have always tasted amazing! A year after our wedding when we did the traditional wedding cake defrost… the cake tasted like the day we were married. Don’t hesitate to order your wedding cake, or any other cake… you will love it!

A German bakery that says you have to special order apple strudel? It used to be such a pleasure to go to this bakery, now it feels like they’d rather you didn’t.

Great bakery! I have ordered many specialty cakes from here for birthdays, baby showers etc. So when it came to ordering my wedding cake it was a no brainier. My husband and I sat down with Anne. She was very informative and had great ideas on how to mend my husbands ideas and mine into one. I brought in pictures and took a little from each to make it my own. It came out gorgeous and delicious. We received so many compliments on it. I also wanted to surprise my husband with a special grooms cake. I will add pictures asap. This was the coolest cake I ever saw. I won’t go anywhere else! Thank you Anne and everyone at Black Forest for all the beautiful and delicious cakes. A few of my favorites besides speciality cakes are their cheesecakes and their Black Forest cake!

Best bakery ever. My mom used to order from them when I was in elementary school for all my bday parties in jan. Back then we had a lot of snow days and cancelled cupcake orders. Black forest always accommodated the changes and made sure we enjoyed fresh chocolate cupcakes which are still my favorite today. I have been going back the last few months and they have expanded and grown. They still have the most delicious chocolate and accommodated a late bday cake order for my dad in December. Thank you black forest. You are the best for over 40 years

I came in for a sandwich & was wooed astray by the German Chocolate Cake Square. Moist cake, not over sweet. The coconut pecan,(at least I think it was pecans) topping was the perfect icing for such a flavorful piece of decadence. BTW I’m not a big chocolate fan or sweet fan for that matter. But every now & then I need a REAL bakery goody & Black Forest fits the bill locally.

Every time I go to The Village Lantern next door for dinner, I always wind up stopping by here for linzertorte. Fine little German/Austrian bakery in Lindenhurst. The friendly staff is always eager to help us pick out deserts. Prices are super cheap and the selections of cakes and pastries are great.

Apple strudel and Black Forest cake are amazing! Haven’t tried many other offerings but very happy with our family staples. Like the restaurant next door, no Amex.

The staff is really nice but the pastries were sub par. They looked amazing but really had little flavor. Can’t say I will go back. Unfortunately Costco has better baked goods. I guess I am used to a great German bakery in the Catskills.

They did MANYWEDDINGCAKES for weddings I attended. They never cease to disappoint. I’m even going back as far as 2005. obviously things can get improve with time but never disappointed. Always consistent at every wedding /event had a cake made for. I would definitely order a cake through them especially since I’m out of state if I was planning something in state on the island I would have no problem even doing it via phone and pictures over internet. We probably need to make a trip down to just check on flavors and tasting one time.

Black Forest Bakery was a recommendation from Jay at The Lake House restaurant. We’re thrilled we met with Black Forest. We looked through 6 binders of photographs, finally selecting a hybrid of styles with white fondant, yellow cake with banana crème filling on one layer and key lime filling on another layer. The cake was amazing. It was beautiful and everyone enjoyed it. We ate the cake for a week after our wedding and it still tasted great. I recommend Black Forest to everyone! I added photos for reference.

I am kind of disappointed in this bakery. It’s hit or miss when you buy something. The pretzel bread is always great but a few times I bought some pastries & some were stale. They definitely were sitting too long. Also the cupcakes were really dry. No flavor to them. It’s a real shame. I did buy a chocolate bunny which was really good that my nephew loved. My advice is don’t buy something if it’s the last one or there aren’t that many left cause chances are it’s old. They don’t like to throw things that out I guess. It’s a real shame cause i do like some stuff but always afraid I will get something old so I am careful what I buy.

Do yourself a favor and get breakfast here one morning and order whatever egg sandwich you prefer on a croissant. I dream about this breakfast sandwich. No, seriously.

Egg sandwich served on a toasted doughnut… enough said. But I’ll continue on to say this is probably the best bakery I’ve ever been to on Long Island. Not only does everything look amazing, it tastes amazing. No trickery in this Black Forest.

I fell in love with this bakery when I walked in the door. I was so beyond happy to find a German bakery. They just don’t exist on Long Island anymore. The ladies were great, especially at 630am on a Saturday. Had to pick up a German Chocolate Cake for my Oktoberfest I was cooking. It was absolutely delicious! This place just has such warmth and charm, those things I love in little old bakeries. I also hear the make a great breakfast.

This is a bakery but also the best breakfast spot! I was on my way to the bagel shop but I noticed the sign in the window for egg sandwiches on pretzel rolls. You must try this! Insanely delicious and at a great price. Get there soon so you can enjoy the outside seating on their patio!

Ordered a cake for my wife’s graduation… Long story short, it came out horrible. . My 4 year old sister can make a better cake. Anyways I was told the manager was going to call me the following day but of course no one called. I didn’t bother to follow up.. Oh and the cake tasted nasty. Stay away

I am writing this not about wedding cakes but about the snacks and baked goods they serve. This is good stuff! For some reason Long Island has the most amazing baked goods … I have never had coffee cake and black and white cookies as good as the ones on Long Island. While I don’t necessarily think this is a very traditional German bakery(having been to the ones in Germany) … it is a good baker with a somewhat smaller selection than I’d like. It’s not one of those places like Mike’s Pastry in Boston where you go in and there are so many goodies to order your head spins. Most of what is offered here seems to be bread, rolls, cream puffs(amazing), pretzels(the pretzel sticks are awesome and what you will get next door at their German restaurant) … but the stand out is the GIANT pretzel. Imagine a pretzel as big as the steering wheel on a car … for $ 5. I love getting this because it really is an attention getter. It tastes a little more hard than it does chewy … almost like a pretzel cracker. I do prefer soft pretzels better … but these are the types of pretzels you see people eating at Oktoberfest in Germany. The goods seem fresh baked here. The inside is pretty drab and looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 1950s. I’d prefer to see a little more character. However, the quality of everything makes it worth the somewhat blah atmosphere. Go for the cookies/breads/pretzels/snacks. They own the restaurant next door which is quite good.

Black Forest is an traditional German bakery. The founder actually came from the Black forest of Germany. After decades of building fans in a few town area. they opened another bakery in Port Jefferson. This bakery totally has charm.. they redid the store yet again. this making way for a soon to come restaurant next door… On Thanksgiving… we happened to need a birthday cake… and it was either leaving Nassau going there or to Reinwalds(Huntington)… they both are awesome for near perfect birthday cakes. These ladies… cringed when I told them I need a cake in a few hours on Thanksgiving they have lines out the door. but accomodated me … on a few small easy condtions. 9″ min… Thats easy. hey make it bigger still. !! lol. pay over the phone. of course. and pick up at 1pm — deal… thank you ladies you are quite wonderful It was ridculously low priced for what it was. and they made all the changes I asked for… perfectly. two flavored cake. two various fillings. whipped cream not buttercream. pastel flowers etc. lol .all so fresh it was just made to order. They had Thanksgiving chocolate roosters, decorated in fall colors, also saw cool pretzel rolls! mmmm they have an actual black forest cake… which is chocolate with cherry filling. thats good too. Pasteries? Good. but the Italian filled zeppoles use a bavarian like cream lol! I prefer to swing back to italian bakeries for those… ahahah Never go one place for everything… This place presents everything well and has been helpful when asked. The cake decorator is a young woman named Christine who is quite talented, see photo. * Update more praise for another picture perfect birthday cake.
